An event like no o ther

An event like no other on the Sunshine Coast

Ask anyone living in or operating a business in the Coolum Eco Industrial Estate if they know Frank and Joan Carroll.

You’ll get answers like “Nicest people I’ve met”, “Bloody legends”, “They did some legal work for me and didn’t charge a cent”.

With neighbours like this, is it anyone wonder businesses and residents love being part of the Coolum Eco Industrial Estate?

However, being great neighbours is not what Frank and Joan are best known for.

It’s their contribution to the monthly Sunshine Coast Cars & Coffee morning that attracts hundreds of car enthusiasts and the general public alike to Coolum on the first Saturday of every month.

It’s a spectacle like no other on the Sunshine Coast.

Not only can the public experience some of the rarest classic vehicles owned by Frank and Joan, but people from all over the region make the trip to Coolum to show off their own pride and joys.

February’s event was the largest one yet. At 8am, there were no less than 170 cars parked on Lysaght Street,

all there to participate in one of Australia’s best public car displays.

In Frank and Joan’s showroom, you’ll find 34 rare and impressive vehicles, immaculately presented and on display to the public. From Rolls Royces that transported Queen Elizabeth II, to fully restored military vehicles and even a fire truck that all the kids love.

Frank and Joan were generous enough to give me almost an hour of their time during the busiest Cars and Coffee event they’d ever had. And there was no shortage of others vying for their attention.

I asked Frank why they do it. The answer was simple; for the love of cars and charity.

With so many amazing machines, you’d think it would be impossible to pick their favourite.

But I was wrong.

The answer came with no hesitation. It’s their 2007 Pearl Rolls Royce. A vehicle so magnificent, you would assume it would rarely be driven.

Wrong again.

In fact, Frank and Joan recently made the journey all the way to Adelaide and back in this stunning lounge room on wheels.

If you want to experience the Pearl Rolls Royce and the rest of this incredible collection for yourself, head to:

Sunshine Coast Cars and Coffee Lysaght Street, Coolum 7am to 10am.

The first Saturday of every month.

All proceeds from the cost of entry ($10) go to charity.

The spectacle doesn’t end in the showroom.

Outside you’ll find dozens of fellow enthusiasts’ vehicles parked in the street and adjacent parking lots, windows down for everyone to poke their head in and admire.

You’ll see beautifully restored classic vehicles, a gang of Porches, hot-rod vehicles, Australian and American muscle cars as well as the odd supercar or two. Some are even for sale.

Even if you’re not a devoted car enthusiast, it’s well worth the visit.

Bring the family along and enjoy a morning of amazement and appreciation for the meticulous effort put into transforming and restoring these vehicles to beyond their former glory.

And don’t forget to say hi to Frank and Joan.

Can’t make it on the Saturday? Frank and Joan also do mid-week tours by appointment. It’s something you have to see at least once.

Visit www.carrollstransportdepot.com.au for a full list of vehicles on display or to arrange a private tour.

All Rolls Royce engines on display are presented on behalf of the Sir Henry Royce Foundation. You can learn more about this incredible organisation by visiting www.henryroycefoundation.com

We’d love to see you at the next Sunshine Coast Cars and Coffee.
