The key take-aways for me was the projected population growth from 300,000 to over 600,000 and the role the Sunshine Coast is expected to play in Australia’s next Olympic bid for 2032. With an estimated $20 billion in public and private infrastructure investment either completed or in the pipeline, it is little wonder that we have ranked in the top 10 “Best Buys” report recently released by HotSpotting’s Terry Ryder.

The Central Sunshine Coast market has been the dominant force in the region for 2019, accounting for 69% of all enquiry with 432 businesses engaging with us. The significance of this becomes more evident with the fact that the region only accounts for 50% for the total number of available properties on the Sunshine Coast. The industrial market remains a strong driver for this demand, but retail requirements have been considerably stronger here than in any other precinct across our Northern Corridor Group. In spite of this demand, there are still plenty of options available, with 522 active listings in the region. This confirms our agent feedback that businesses are being extremely selective when securing a new property. Function continues to trump budget for industrial requirements, who can save more through operational efficiencies than by skimping on asking rent for an inferior layout. Investor appetite for this region has strengthened further due to positive media exposure and the traditional focus on tenant security is decreasing due to the promise of longer term capital growth.
