From the Pulpit- Children’s day Service
There Is A Child Here After these things, Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased…........then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?”……….one of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish (NKJV), John 6:1-9
This passage tells us about a child (vs. 9), though we did not know much about this child, but he was a child who was in the right place at the right time. Whatever his name was does not really matter but all we know is that he had the loaves and the fishes on which Jesus depended on to feed the multitudes. Let us talk more about this child. Who is he? What was he doing in the midst of the multitudes at that time? We could say this child was not all alone and it is possible he was with his parents and the five loaves and two fishes were his family lunch. Perhaps it could be that this child was walking around selling food to the people on that hill, but whatever the speculations about this child are, the message is clear, he fulfilled his destiny. What are the things we can pick out from this passage? Firstly, they were searching for provisions and this child was brought forwarded because he has what Jesus needed just at the time. Secondly, this passage tells us that this child was a willing child and not a selfish child, because he willingly gave out what he had (his five loaves and two fishes) when it was required by Jesus. Another thing we can pick out from this passage is that whatever gets to the hand of Jesus shall multiply. Ordinarily five loaves and two fishes wouldn’t have been enough to feed the multitudes of people, but in the hands of Jesus the five loaves and two fishes were enough because through it Jesus performed a miracle, he multiplied the numbers of the loaves and fishes and the multitudes fed such that there was even left overs. There are lessons to learn here for everyone. To all the young people, do not under estimate what you have because that little thing you have may just be the blessings to another child`s life. And to the adults and parents do not under estimate your child because God can turn that little thing, that little dream or vision your child has into a mighty one. Ordinarily the contents of this child`s basket was so little and insufficient to the human eyes but Jesus was able to use them to feed the a large numbers of people.

A Chosen Generation But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (NKJV). 1 Peter 2:9
We are people chosen for a purpose. God choose us especially to do His work, to proclaim his word; therefore, we should not take for granted our positions as children of God. Deuteronomy 14:2 tells us, you for you are a holy people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. In essence, what God is saying to us here is that He has ordained us to do special things for Him, to go forth and bring fruits unto Him, to go forth and proclaim the good news to all generations. Meaning on daily or weekly basis you should sit back and review your mind and asked yourself this question? What have I produced or achieved for the Lord? If we looked through the bible, we can see certain people that God has chosen over time, that are part of His chosen generation and these were people like Abraham, Noah, Moses, Joseph etc. These people lived their lives in honour and fear of God. And for you and I to be named in the manner as these people, is a great honour and the one we should not take for granted. As you can see God has put His trust in us to share His word and to provide for Him fruits. Therefore as a chosen child of God, we are task to share God`s gift to all ends of the earth, because His Word is not only for us but for the entire world. Lord, You have chosen us to be your own special people and produce fruits for You, we ask that You Oh Lord give us strength and grace to do that which You have entrust in us, in Jesus name we pray.

The Chosen Generation But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy (NKJV). 1 Peter 2:9-10
Who exactly are the chosen generation? And what is God`s purpose for the chosen? Before we answers these questions let us examine three characters in the bible who were chosen in their generation. One of them was Joseph. Joseph was a young man who held on to his dreams and had the fear of God in his life. Ever since he was a young boy, he had given dreams and visions that enabled him moved far high above the rest of his brothers. His trust in God kept him going even while he was in the prison and God did not fail him nor abandon him. Soon after, he rose to become a second man in command to Pharaoh. He fulfilled his purpose as God`s chosen and shortly after he was promoted a Prime Minister in a foreign land. This is the awesome power of our God. Daniel was another young man who fulfilled God`s destiny in his generation. His enemies could not find him faulty except for the things concerning the work of God. He was busy for the Lord and in constant fellowship with God, known for his gift of wisdom and excellence. Another character who worked with God was King David. The scripture tells us in Act 13:36 that David served his own generation by the will of God. He lived to please the Lord as the chosen one. He had a remarkable relationship with the Lord and that reflected a lot in his songs, praises, worship and instructions. He always communicated with God and seek God`s counsel for everything he did. One striking thing about David was how far God has brought him. He started from being a humble shepherd boy looking after his father sheeps to becoming one of the greatest Kings Israel has ever known. That is what God can do for you as His chosen one. The characters we have mentioned above all show special traits and qualities as part of the chosen generation which God has called us into. These great men of God were special and their hearts were pure. They lived their lives to praise and please the Lord. They communicated and fellowship with God always, presenting God wherever they were and they made it known to others that they were children of the Lord. Whenever they had sinned, they always reconcile back to God. Therefore, let us study these people and learn lessons from their lives that we may act as they did, and let God be proud of us as his chosen ones. As we work with God in fear and in holiness, we pray we will fulfil our purpose on earth and bring Him glory as His chosen generation in Jesus name.
