The Foundation To Experience God`s Miracle On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him “They have no wine.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” (vs. 1-5) John 2:1-12 By Rev. David (Sunday, 21 June 2015) When the power of God is flowing, when the power of God is healing, when the power of God is performing miracles don’t just be a spectator, be a participant. When Jesus is passing by, don’t just stand there and watch rather stretch forth your hands and reach onto Him. The woman with the issue of blood for twelve years heard about Jesus and she came in desperation and said if I can just touch the helm of His garment I will be healed (Mark 5:27-28) and behold she was healed. So often in church, people tend to worry about what others would say and thereby miss their touch from God, their miracle, their deliverance, their healing and their breakthrough etc. Brothers and sisters do not worry about what people would say because it is what God knows and say that is important. In Mathew 12:11 Jesus healed a man with a shriveled hands in the synagogue, He said to the man stretch out your hand, Jesus didn’t say which one to stretch out so the man could have stretched out a different hand but he stretched out the sick hand and guess what? He got his healing. There are three foundational things you require, to experience a miracle. God works in many very different ways and Jesus healed in many different ways. In the practice of the ministry of healing and miraculous, there are no set formulae but there are truths. I will share with you three principles that God ordained and these are the foundation of our entering into the miraculous experience of God`s miracle. Whatever that miracle maybe, these are three principle truths; they are the foundational to experience a miracle. God is a God of miracles. He is great and He does miracles that are great, nothing is impossible for Him. A miracle by definition is when the supernatural comes into the natural and God does something that only He can do. The first thing you need to realize if you want to experience God`s miracle is that you`ve got to make sure you invite Jesus to the party (just like the wedding at Cana of Galilee). You`ve got to make Jesus the focus. The miracle at the wedding at Cana of Galilee is the first miracle Jesus did. Moreover, whenever something is mentioned for the first time in the scripture, it has added significance and relevance to our understanding of that which then comes after it. For instance the first time love is mentioned in the bible is in Genesis 22:2 where God said to Abraham “Take your only son Isaac, whom you love and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on the one of the mountain of which I will I shall tell you.” So the first time we come across the word “love” is about a father whose only son is about to be sacrificed. And that now
give us an insight to the love of God that is to be display by giving us His only Son as a sacrificial lamb for this world. Also, the first time the word “miracle” is mentioned in the ministry of Jesus as we come into a new kingdom, new dispensation is in John 2, at the wedding in Cana of Galilee where Jesus turned water into wine and manifested His glory. Brothers and sister, if you want to experience a miracle you`ve to make sure you invite Jesus. You`ve got to make sure He is the focus because Jesus is not only the wine who opens for us the residue of earth wine but He is also the wine that when we move into the realm of the supernatural and the realm of the miraculous He is not only a provider He is a protector. When you move into the supernatural realm, there is a great blessing but there is a great danger and when we operate in this realm we are bless in the heavenly realms. Also, in the same heavenly realms we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities. In the heavenly realm of the miraculous, there is life and there is also death if you go to the wrong source. And when we enter into the heavenly realm of the supernatural we need to make sure Jesus is at the centre of our focus. Secondly, if you want to experience a miracle you have to come to the end of yourself, the wine has to run out of your self-effort. In essence, you do nothing but acknowledge before God He is your everything, He is your only resources, your abilities, your strength and without Him, you can do nothing. There is something about humility that draws God to it and there is something about pride that pushes God away from it. When we want to experience God`s miracles there has to be humility, you have to believe God is all you have and without Him you are nothing and it is when we come to the end of ourselves that we find the resources we need. When Jesus performed His first miracle at the Cana of Galilee, He turned water into wine but prior to that when the wine ran out His mother Mary came and told him they have ran out of wine. And Jesus said to His mother, woman what does your concern have to do with Me (in essence what He meant is that mother I have been doing your will but from now on I have to do my Father`s will). And His mother said to the servants “Whatever He says to you do it.” Thirdly, if you want to experience a miracle whatever He says do it. Some people may say, how do I understand what God is saying to me? How can I hear when He speaks? Jesus said in John 10:27, my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me. If you want to hear God, you have spend time with God. If that voice gets stronger and stronger and stronger, you can be pretty sure God is talking to you, not only is the voice strong but if there is also peace in your heart you can be pretty sure this is God speaking to you. When you draw near to God, God draws near to you and the peace of God abides in you and at that moment, if you want to experience a miracle whatever He says to you do it. So often, we mix the miraculous because we get the revelation but we don’t respond to the revelation. There is truth encounter before power encounter and the bible says know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Therefore, if we just hear the truth and never respond to the truth, we would not hear God speak. The power of God can be moving in a place, in an awesome way and then suddenly the light comes on and there is revelations but if you don’t respond to the light and do what He tells you, you won’t see the power, you won’t see the miracle. All you would be saying, oh! That was a great message! That was a great word! What a powerful insight! When you enter into a relationship with the truth, you do what the truth says and hence James said, don’t just be a hearer of the word, do it (James 1:22). When Jesus turned water into wine, and manifested His glory. What does the bible mean when it said Jesus manifested (revealed) His glory? It is because the glory of God is the source of all lives. Hence the Psalmist says in Psalm 3:3, You O Lord you`re my glory and the lifter of my head.
When Moses saw the burning bush, He pulled off his shoes (Exodus 3:2). Do you know why the burning bush was not consumed? It is because the glory of God was upon it. That bush could burn forever because the source of life was there. When the glory comes, life begins to flow. When the glory is revealed, miracles take place. When the glory is manifested, the impossible becomes possible. When the glory flowing, whatever sickness, whatever the bondage, whatever the enemy have done or whatever the circumstance are, the glory transforms darkness into light. Be assured that, in the kingdom of God whatever and wherever we are in the journey, our best is yet to come. The light of God just goes brighter and brighter, from glory to glory. Remain blessed and have a wonderful week.
