A Walk to Remember T
here may be no better way to get to know Hot Springs than with a relaxing walk through its downtown. Three different, but similar projects, each do their part to make it a ‘walk to remember.’
Streetcorner pods mark 20th year What has ultimately become one of the most effective beautification programs the City of Hot Springs has seen in the past quarter century marks its 20th anniversary this summer.
An army of volunteers - the Pod Squad - maintain and care for the city’s downtown streetcorner pods each year. The streetcorner pods are a unique creation that began as a city project in 1995 through a federal transportation planning grant. Through many variations over the years, care for the pods transferred from city crews to teams of volunteers – known as the Pod Squad – who have since adopted each pod. Now 20 years later, the bright and

colorful decorations offer a pleasing sight to anyone passing through town during the summer months. Keep Hot Springs Beautiful, a local volunteer organization, oversees the pod program. During the “Great American Cleanup,”set for May 9 this year, members of the Pod Squad will begin work on their little plots. Each pod has a small plaque that tells which volunteer cares for it. Many groups and organizations care for the same pod year-after-year and make upgrades each spring over the work that was done in the past years.

And every November, at the Keep Hot Springs Beautiful annual meeting, a People’s Choice winner for the favorite pod is given out.
Murals turn area history into public art For nearly 10 years now, blank walls throughout Hot Springs have become blank canvases for artists, transformed through the Hot Springs Cultural D e v e l o p m e n t Organization’s mural project. The first mural, “Fall River Falls,” was created downtown at 237 North River Street in 2007. Artist Ross Burden recreated the falls southeast of town that gave Fall River its name. Since that time, with timely fund-raising by the Cultural Development Organization (CDO) through its annual “An Evening of Wine and Roses” event, and with a helping hand from building owners and other organizations, this summer
“Branding Time,” located on the east side of Barnyard Veterinary Clinic and painted by artist Maria March, pays homage to the ranching community that has been and continues to be a vital part of the culture in the Southern Black Hills. will see the fifth mural move from the planning stages to reality. And number six is already in the planning stages. “Minnekahta Avenue,” by renowned mural artist Del Iron Cloud followed “Fall River Falls,”in 2010. It is located on the south wall of the Ace Hardware store downtown and depicts a
street scene along this major thoroughfare from the mid 1890s. In 2012, Hot Springs’ long relationship with our nation’s veterans was depicted in Michael Tuma’s “From Sea to Shining Sea.” Tuma’s creation, depicting our nation’s triumphant past from the Revolutionary War through America’s presence in
Afghanistan, has the perfect home on the east side of the American Legion Battle Mountain Post 71. Local artist Maria March created “Branding Time” on the east wall of Barnyard Veterinary Clinic in 2014, paying homage to Fall River County’s storied ranching history.

In 2015, the west side of Barnyard Veterinary Clinic will also receive the ‘mural treatment,’ when Evans Flammond creates “A Perfect World.”Flammond’s vision is of the Minnekahta Valley west of Hot Springs, at a time when the Lakota people were the primary residents. And next up is the yetto-be-named project planned for Evans Plunge on the north end of Hot Springs. Currently in the “Call for Artists” stage, the mural is expected to depict the long history and importance of water to Hot Springs and the surrounding area.
ABOVE: During community events, like the Fall River Fourth of July Celebration pictured here, residents and visitors alike congregate along the Freedom Trail near the banks of Fall River. BELOW LEFT: The Freedom Trail also takes walkers below the waterfall along North River Street.
Freedom Trail tours the town At about the same time the city was writing the grant that brought streetcorner pods to Hot Springs 20 years ago, the Freedom Trail River Walk got started. It clings to the banks of Fall River, a warm water source that never freezes, as the river flows through town, offering an easy, low-impact stroll through the heart of the city. This 1.5 mile paved and lighted trail, beginning at Minnekahta Avenue on the

north end and extending past the waterfall, Centennial Park and continuing to the south end of town, is ADA compliant, welcoming motorized wheelchairs, scooters and conveyances for the disabled. The walk showcases several blocks of sandstone buildings which are listed on the National Historic Register and are located across the river. Along the trail you’ll likely see ducks, squirrels, deer and dogs on leashes. It is a popular destina-
tion for young and old alike to enjoy the outdoors, and some of the outstanding weather the city is known for. Plans are on the drawing board for extending the trail further north, to Evans Plunge and even Chautauqua Park. When it comes to relaxing, family entertainment in Hot Springs, don’t overlook the opportunities right downtown by taking a bicycle ride, a walk, a run or a roll on the Freedom Trail “River Walk,” which is where the locals go!

The Hot Springs area features a wide variety of family-friendly activities, including outdoor water sports and beach lounging as shown here at the Angostura Recreation Area. LOWER LEFT: The Southern Black Hills also offers a number of opportunities to get up close and personal with buffalo, at both Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park.
Fun in the Southern Black Hills All your family’s vacation wants at your fingertips When you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to spend all or part of your vacation this year, you have only to look to the Southern Black Hills and the city of Hot Springs. Hot Springs is the southern gateway of the beautiful and majestic Black Hills. Within minutes you could be looking at one of the unique granite carvings found in the Black Hills, observing some of the native wildlife in its natural state or dropping a line into a lake or stream to catch some of our famous freshwater fish. But to relax, recharge and rejuvenate, Hot Springs is the place to be. Nestled in a valley through which Fall River has flowed for thousands of years, Hot Springs is built around the river which gives Fall River County its name. More than 3,700 friendly people call Hot Springs home and many families have lived in the area for several generations.

The river itself is fed by some of the many springs which gave Hot Springs its name. The list of things to do during your stay in Hot Springs is lengthy and includes activities sure to interest everyone in the family.Young or old, there is something for everyone in and around Hot

Springs. A day for your family could involve waking to the sound of the river, near one of the nearly 30 different Bed and Breakfasts, Resorts, Motels and Campgrounds in the area, many of which are open year-round. After breakfast, the entire family could head to Evans Plunge, the Black Hills’oldest attraction and the world’s largest natural warm water indoor swimming pool. Evans Plunge is fed by a 5,000 gallons-perminute spring that has been flowing for centuries. At that rate, water at “The Plunge” is completely exchanged 16 times per day. Evans Plunge was one of the original businesses in the city, and its founder, Fred T. Evans, lent his name to several other buildings in the community as well. The numerous springs throughout the area were flowing for centuries before the lure of gold brought miners and the rest of civilization to the Black Hills. Legends tell of a hostile encounter between Lakota and Cheyenne tribes over who controlled the naturally flowing warm waters which flow to this day. If they choose, Mom and Dad could drop the kids off for some fun at the Plunge and make tracks for the Southern Hills Golf Course on the southwestern corner of the city. Eighteen holes of lush fairways and challenging greens await those who choose to play the course, carved into the rugged landscape near Hot Springs. Southern Hills provides a challenge for
golfers of any age or skill level and is considered the “golf destination” in the Black Hills. If you like golf, but on a smaller scale, the entire family could also take in a round of mini-golf at Black Hills’ Putt-4-Fun, located near downtown - look for the tall windmill and red, white and blue fence. After a tasty homecooked lunch at one of the local restaurants, your family fun could move indoors and take a more historic turn at The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs. Once the site of a pre-historic, springfed watering hole, the site became the grave to more than 60 mammoths some 26,000 years ago, when they slipped into the pool and were unable to get out. Beginning in September of 2014, The Mammoth Site underwent a facelift that will thrill even frequent visitors. A pair of new, state-ofthe-art, 53-person theaters with enhanced sound will introduce guests to The Site with a 10-minute, HiDefinition glimpse into the past. Then it is off to the bone bed, where a new wireless sound system will offer an experience to be remembered. Gone are the elevated wooden walkways, replaced by handicap accessible concrete ramps, with metal railings that put the visitor at eye level for some of the dig. Even if you are a frequent visitor, you haven’t seen this ‘new’ Mammoth Site. During the month of July, excavations take place at the site, as volunteers

The bones are left in place at the dig, a process called in situ. Visitors can tour the dig, and get a glimpse of thousands of years of history under one roof. There are also kid’s activities, if they want to get their hands dirty with a little digging. If history is your thing, there is no finer museum in the area than the Pioneer Museum in Hot Springs. Built as a sandstone school house in 1893, the museum
overlooks Hot Springs on a hilltop in the center of town and offers four levels of displays that pay tribute to the Pioneers. One of its most recent acquisitions is a bust sculpted by Gutzon Borglum, the creator of Mount Rushmore. some of the shops that now call these historic buildings home and offer anything from books, gifts, decor, antiques and Black Hills Gold, to name a few. You’ll also be sure to find a nice place for a bite to eat or a cup of coffee, either hot or cold. There is not a better way to end your fun-filled day than an evening tour of the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary. Located south of Hot Springs and nestled next to the Cheyenne River, Dayton Hyde has built a sanctuary for the freeroaming wild horses on more than 11,000 acres of prairie. The sanctuary is also home to a wide array of other wildlife.Tourist busses get visitors ‘up close and personal’ with the wild mustang which contributed a great deal to the building of the American west. Another area attraction also featuring horses is the Windcross Conservancy, near Buffalo Gap, which is home to the endangered Spanish Mustangs of North America. The non-profit

around each turn in the park. Custer State Park also is home to the Black Hills Playhouse, where top quality live theater productions are held each summer, as they have been for more than 60 years. In September of 2015, Custer State Park will host the 50th anniversary of its popular buffalo roundup. What began as a simple exercise to bring in the park’s buffalo herd to check its health and sort out those to be sold, has grown to one of the largest weekend tourist draws in the Southern Hills. Also nearby are Jewel Cave National Monument and the world renowned Mount Rushmore National Memorial, America’s Shrine to Democracy, and one of the most visited attractions in the United States. Along the way travelers may pass the Crazy Horse Memorial, sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski’s ambitious project to carve a memorial to the Lakota Chief. The privately-funded project is continued by the children of the great sculptor, who also worked on Mount Rushmore. Return to Hot Springs and take a walking tour of the sandstone buildings that make up the downtown historic district. The sandstone used in construction was quarried near Hot Springs and was used extensively when the town was built, including the unique VA Domiciliary facility and the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veteran’s Home.
While a new State Veterans Home is scheduled to open in the spring of 2016, the original ‘Old Soldiers Home,’ which first served veterans of the Civil War and which dates back to before South Dakota was a state, will be retained. Visitors can re-connect with nature with a leisurely walk along the Freedom Trail, a sidewalk which meanders along Fall River from one end of the city to the other. Don’t be surprised if you happen across some mule deer or perhaps a flock of our mallard ducks on your journey. Up the hill from the river you will find Butler Park, the center of the Hot Springs’outdoor recreation during the summer, with ball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, picnic areas and a skateboard park providing a backdrop for many outdoor activities. Directly on the south side of Butler Park is the recently constructed Hot Springs Public Library. The library,
which had its grand opening in 2007, boasts a log and stone exterior, and all the amenities you would expect on the inside. In fact, the stonework on the inside of the library is re-claimed from a fire at one of the old sandstone hotels. The marks from the quarry can still be seen on many of the stones. There are seasonal activities planned in Hot Springs as well, and depending upon when you choose to visit you could find yourself attending the crowning of Miss South Dakota, taking in a free concert, rooting for your entry in a duck race or observing some of the top poets and songwriters in the nation. The 69th Miss South Dakota will be crowned in Hot Springs on June 20, with activities slated throughout the week, leading up to Saturday night. Hot Springs has been the home of Miss South Dakota since the scholarship program began. Throughout the month of July, take in one of the Tuesday night “Screen on
the Green”events at the Hot Springs Public Library, featuring themed outdoor games and a movie. At various times during the year the local Southern Hills Community Theatre group presents plays as well, at the Mueller Civic Center. The Chamber of Commerce Duck Race is one of the many events which take place during the Fourth of July Celebration in Hot Springs. Thousands of ducks are released and leisurely float down Fall River until one crosses the finish line. The summer season winds up with the annual Badger Clark Cowboy Stories and Roundup, a unique event harkening back to the heritage of the cowboys who built this country. So come and visit Hot Springs and the Southern Black Hills. Whether you want to have a jam-packed schedule while you are here, or just want to relax, recharge and rejuvenate at your own pace, there is no place like this place to make it happen.

Family fun in the great outdoors One of the Hot Springs area's greatest draws is its abundance of outdoor activities. Whether it's golfing, boating, hunting, fishing, biking or hiking, the Southern Black Hills is your kind of place! Wildcat Classic Bike Race For mountain bikers, a brand new event known as the Wildcat Classic is set to kick off this summer, with its inaugural race set for August 15. The Wildcat Classic is a 40mile mountain bike race/ride where participants climb and descend more than 5,000 feet of trails, consisting of single track and re-discovered forest service roads. The event operates under a United States Forest Service permit and will be absolutely fascinating to most participants in that this route is virtually unknown to anyone besides its race organizers. It will truly be new trail to discover and "a ride on the Wild Side." It is named after the Wildcat Canyon, which is the canyon at the heart of the race course. Other topographical places riders will discover are Cold Brook Canyon, Cold Brook Reservoir, Antelope Canyon, Theater Ridge, and Twin Sisters Range just to name a few. There are several places where the trail literally hugs the west and south borders of Wind Cave National Park. The course consists of beauti-

This event will open the doors and invite mountain bikers from all over South Dakota and all surrounding states to discover the absolutely perfect terrain the Southern Black Hills and Hot Springs has to offer mountain bikers of all skill levels. While the
main course is 40 miles, there are two shorter distances. A 26-mile loop with less climbing, and a free kids' seven-mile ride that follows the first part of the course and heads back before the terrain becomes too challenging. The race start and finish is located at beautiful Chautauqua Park, which is located in the City of Hot Springs itself. This allows families of the participants to send off their riders before turning to a full list of activities while family members are riding. It is a
great opportunity for the City of Hot Springs to showcase all the City has to offer and show race visitors how fantastic our City and hospitality really is. Participants and families can enjoy the beauty of Chautauqua Park by relaxing by or wading in Warm Fall River and are invited of course to hang around after the event for post-race activities. For more information or to register for the race, email the organizer Nate Ritterbush at wyattnutes@goldenwest.net or call 605-745-3668. Golf anyone? When it comes to sporting activities in Hot Springs, there's no denying the highly acclaimed Southern Hills Golf Course - considered "The Black Hills Premiere Golf Destination." Eighteen holes of lush fairways and challenging greens await those who choose to play the course described by Golf Week as one of the country's “Best Places to Play”from 2000-2014. If you prefer just working on your “short game,”Hot Springs is also home to an 18-hole miniature golf course known as Black Hills Putt-4-Fun, located adjacent to the Hills Inn motel near downtown. Wind Cave National Park & Custer State Park If hiking and viewing wildlife is more your thing, Hot Springs is only minutes away from two prime wildlife viewing areas. Just north of Hot Spring is Wind Cave National Park, featuring a

In addition, Wind Cave is also home to an unparalleled bison herd along with many other native wildlife. The nearly genetically pure bison are coveted by those national organizations building their herd. Directly north of Wind Cave National Park is Custer State Park,
home of the Wildlife Loop and many other fun, family outdoor activities. Custer State Park was recognized as one of the Top-10 places in the world to view wildlife. You will see bison, along with prairie dogs, pronghorn, the famous burros, perhaps a big-horn sheep or even a magestic elk. Water Activities As you could surmise from its name, Hot Springs is known for its water activities, including boating, swimming, skiing, snorkeling and of course fishing at any of its bodies of water including Angostura Recreation Area and Resort, Cold Brook Dam, Cottonwood Springs and Cascade Falls, to name a few. Many of these areas also provide great fishing. Angostura Reservoir is home to a number of walleye tournaments each year, but in addition to walleye, it is also a great place to catch smallmouth bass, crappie, and northern pike. The lake features many sandy beaches and a

number of campsites, as well as camping cabins. Cold Brook Dam, located just three miles north of Hot Springs, is routinely stocked with rainbow trout and also holds largemouth bass, as well as the occasional crappie or bluegill. For boaters, only electric motors are allowed on the lake, but there are plenty of spots on the shore to try your luck as well. Cold Brook also features a sandy swim beach and campsites. Cottonwood Springs Dam is located six miles west of Hot Springs and has both trout and bass. Camping is also available.

Hunting enthusiasts can find trophy big game opportunities just minutes from the Hot Springs city limits, including elk, antelope, whitetail deer and mule deer.
Hunting Opportunities If hunting is your thing, you would be hard-pressed to find another place around which provides such a diverse variety of game animals. Whitetail and Mule deer are the most prevalent big game animals. Hot Springs is situated in the heart of two South Dakota deer hunting season units, including the Black Hills Deer Season, which runs the entire month of November, and the West River Prairie Season, which runs the second through the fourth weekends in November. Rocky Mountain Elk are the largest of the region's big game animals. Hunting elk in the Black Hills is open to South Dakota residents only, with bow and rifle seasons occurring during September, October and December. Pronghorn antelope season takes place in October in the prairie areas of Fall River County to the south of Hot Springs, where the ancient yet speedy animals can be found in abundance. Turkey hunting is arguably Hot
Springs' greatest outdoor draw for hunting enthusiasts. The area features both Fall and Spring seasons, for both the Prairie and Black Hills units. Other big game season available to hunters in the Black Hills region include Mountain Lion, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goat. The Chinese Ring-Necked Pheasant is the state bird and one of South Dakota's most famous commodities. While not generally considered to be very abundant in the Black Hills area, Fall River County is one of the few spots in the Hills known for its pheasants hunting. There are some public hunting areas near Angostura Reservoir and the town of Oral. In addition, private hunting lodges are available, which will not only find you birds, but cater to your every need. More information about area hunting opportunities check out www.sdgfp.info where you can also apply for licenses on-line.
Located just south of Hot Springs, Angostura Recreation Area is not only home to some of the finest sandy beaches in the state, but also 3.2 miles of paved hiking and biking trails that follow the eastern shoreline - from the beaches to the campgrounds. It also features a 1.2 mile Disc Golf Course on moderate, hilly terrain overlooking the entire lake.
The Wildcat Classic mountain bike race will leave from Chautauqua Park on the north edge of Hot Springs and then travel north over mostly National Forest Service land, rising and descending 5,000 feet of elevation along the way. While the main course is 40 miles, there are two shorter distances involved in the race, including a 26-mile loop with less climbing and a free seven-mile kids’ course.
In addition to the underground cave which can be toured, Wind Cave National Park, located just 10 miles north of Hot Springs, features 33,854 acres of mixed-grass prairie which is abundant with wildlife that can be viewed ‘up close and personal.’
Sheps Canyon, on the west side, also features additional trails as well as Horse Camping, & big game hunting opportunities.
Another outdoor attraction just south of Hot Springs, off of Hwy 71 (Cascade Road), is the Whitney Preserve. Located on 4,400 acres, the property is situated on the eastern edge of a large, undeveloped landscape where elements of sage lands, pine forest and mixed grasslands come together.

A city built on healing Hot Springs is a city with a history built on its healing waters. Hot Springs was the Black Hills’ first tourist destination, and with good reason. The springs that feed Fall River as it meanders through the heart of the city are running today, just as they were more than 130 years ago. With the healing powers of the naturally flowing warm springs, from which water comes out of the ground at a constant 87 degrees, it is no surprise that a town sprouted by the river that still carries water with the same healing chemical makeup as it did when the town was founded. From the mineral water’s mist rose elaborate sandstone buildings, and proprietors provided all manner of services and goods. Around that same time, more than 100 years ago, the precursor to today’s Department of Veterans Affairs saw fit to build the Battle Mountain Sanitarium in this tranquil and healing area. Soldiers who served during the Civil War were among the

building will feature the most up-to-date practices while blending with the aesthetic presence of the sandstone buildings that are more than 100 years old. Fall River Health Services operates Fall River Hospital and offers a family clinic with expanded hours and a wide array of specialty clinics. New in 2014 was the opening of Seven Sisters Living Center, attached to the north side of the hospital. Plans are nearly complete for the home of the ambulance service, also to be located near the hospital.

Great weather, beautiful scenery, friendly people.
WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?

If you are looking for a new place to call home, Hot Springs has the amenities of larger towns, while still hanging onto the smalltown, stress-free, relaxed atmosphere for which everyone seems to be searching these days. Not sure? Let’s start with the scenery. The Black Hills as a whole offer a wide range of beauty, with numerous exploring options for your free time. But the Hills begin in Hot Springs, the Southern Gateway of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Rugged, pine-tree covered hills give way gently to rolling plains, as centuries of geological work below the ground created one of the prettiest places in the world to call home. Then there is the weather. Now, South Dakota is renowned for its harsh winters, there is no getting around it. Hot Springs, however, is the home of the highest average annual temperature in the state, boasting an average temp of 64 degrees, which tells you that even though winter does pass through, it rarely makes a lengthy stay.
Snowfall averages less than 30 inches per year, and in a warmerthan-average climate, doesn’t stick around very long. As we are situated down in the Fall River valley, snow comes down softly and gently, as opposed to the ‘horizontal snow’ often associated with the state. There is a reason why the rest of the state enviously calls us “The Banana Belt.” The city itself follows the path of Fall River as it meanders through the valley in which it has flowed for many centuries. Hot Springs is situated 3,535 feet above sea level. What that means is that even when it gets warmer during the summer, there is very little humidity. Have kids? Hot Springs has a highly regarded public school system, offering topnotch education for students pre-school through high school. In addition, Bethesda Lutheran is a private elementary school with church ties, while Cornerstone Bible Institute offers posthigh school education. The city’s new library opened in 2007, featuring log-cabin and natu-

While the building may have a rustic look, inside everything is cutting edge, with several computers for Internet access, a special children’s wing and an entire room dedicated to the vast and wideranging history of Fall River County. The library is across
the street from Butler Park, the largest of our five city parks. Butler Park has four ball fields to occupy the kids during the spring, summer and fall. There are baseball, softball and soccer fields, two tennis courts, a full-size basketball court, horseshoe pits and a walking trail. There are two large pic-
nic shelters that are popular destinations throughout the year. Construction on a new skateboard park was completed in 2006. Other city parks are sprinkled throughout the town, most in close proximity to the river, with picnic shelters to accommodate your family, when they come to visit you after your move. The walking path, named the Freedom Trail, meanders through the city next to the river, where you are likely to see ducks and deer yearround. Hot Springs boasts a highly competitive 18-hole golf course, a minigolf course, a bowling alley, movie theater and swimming pool (Evans Plunge). Situated at the southern tip of South Dakota’s Black Hills, Hot Springs is accessed via U.S. Highways 18 and 385, as well as State Highways 79, 71 and 89, making travel a breeze. The nearest ‘big’town is Rapid City, an hour to the north on a four-lane highway while Chadron, Neb., is the same distance south. So even in the event you can’t find it here, chances are it’s not too far away. Rapid City and Chadron are also the nearest major air service outlets. Hot Springs does have an airport southeast of town, with a hard surfaced runway and taxiway. The new hospital, a true expression of a community project, offers a wide range of specialty clinics. Land near town was donated by an individual for the express purpose of a hospital. In
an unprecedented happening, local contractors banded together to install – free of charge - water and sewer lines to the hospital. To ease the burden on the contractors, a communitywide donation drive netted enough cash to offset other costs to the contractors. Hot Springs is home to Pine Hills Retirement Community, an assisted living and Memory Care facility adjacent to the golf course, offering one or two-bedroom apartments and beautiful view for its residents. The Hot Springs VA Medical Center noted its 107th Anniversary in 2014 and continues to offer healthcare to the veterans of our country’s armed services. The Hot Springs VA serves a large portion of western South Dakota, northwestern Nebraska and eastern Wyoming. It is also the area’s largest employer, followed by Fall River Health Services, which operates the hospital and the recently constructed Seven Sisters Living Center. The community has also been home to the South Dakota State Veterans Home since 1890. Many of its earliest residents were veterans of the Civil War, several of which are buried at the historical cemetery on the grounds. Hot Springs has a positive work atmosphere. Unemployment rates are low, 5.3 percent as of January 2015. The average annual pay for workers in Fall River County was $28,284. Real estate in the area is still con-

A number of development areas are available both within the city limits, or just outside if you are looking to build among the pine-covered hills. The Hot Springs Star has been covering the news of the area since 1886, and is published weekly while also offering an online version (www.hotspringsstar.com). Hot Springs, a welcoming community that looks forward to welcoming you.

“Our family loves living in Hot Springs!” It is small enough to know the people on a firstname basis that you run into at the grocery store or at a Little League game, and at the same time there is plenty to do and see in and around Hot Springs and throughout the Black Hills. - Clint and Jennifer Walker, Minister and Social Worker
What do I LOVE about
“I love Hot Springs because of the positive business climate. There’s little regulation and low taxes partnered with beautiful scenery and lots of recreational opportunities. It's perfect!” - Amanda Brengle, Exec. Director
“This community is outstanding!” “My husband and I moved our family here nine years ago and haven’t looked back since. This community is outstanding! It is great to surround yourself with great people and friends and Hot Springs has them for sure. The community comes together whether it be to attend a parade, support the Hot Springs Bison, or help a family in need.” - Andrea Kramer, Business Manager
“Living in Hot Springs has given my wife and me opportunities to be more selective in our interests, while slowing down and enjoying our community more than we ever could in larger metropolitan areas. We might not have a local Wal-Mart, but everything we need is within five minutes of our home!” - Greg Foust, Exec. Director
