The Rave Returns!

Unsere Freude ist riesig. Denn dieser farbenfrohe Vorbote in deinen Händen bedeutet, dass die Street Parade endlich wieder stattfinden kann. Drei Jahre mussten wir warten, bangen, kämpfen. Umso dankbarer sind wir jetzt, mit der 29. Ausgabe der grössten Technoparty der Welt Hunderttau senden Menschen einen unvergesslichen Tag zu schenken.

Vor 30 Jahren rollten zum ersten Mal sieben Love Mobiles durch Zürichs Strassen zu einer «Demonstration für Liebe, Friede, Freiheit, Grosszügigkeit und Toleranz» – Werte, die in den vergangenen Jahren noch viel mehr an Bedeutung gewonnen haben. Denn weltweit stehen diese Werte unter Beschuss und müssen energisch verteidigt werden.

Mit dem diesjährigen Motto «THINK.» legen wir allen ein Mittel ans Herzen, wie uns das gelingen kann. Der positive Wandel beginnt in den Köpfen. Durch stete Reflexion führen wir unsere Gedanken und unser Handeln an Abkürzungen, vorproduzierten Meinungen und gefährlichen Vorurteilen vorbei. Auch wenn dazu ein langer Weg vor uns liegt: Wir tanzen ihn gemeinsam.

We are just overjoyed. Because this colorful harbinger in your hands means that the Street Parade can finally take place again. For three long years, we had to wait, we were anxious and we had to struggle. Now, we are all the more grateful that we will be able to present hundreds of thousands of people with an unforgettable day with the 29th edition of the largest Techno party worldwide.

Seven love mobiles were rolling through the streets of Zurich thirty years ago – all in the spirit of a «demonstration for love, peace, freedom, generosity and tolerance» – values which in recent years gained ever more in importance. Because these values are worldwide under attack and must be energetically defended.

With this year’s motto «THINK.», we urge everybody to make it successful. Positive change begins in our heads. With constant reflection and contemplation, our thoughts and actions pass by any abbreviations, prefabricated opinions and dangerous prejudices. Even if we have a long way before us: We will dance it together.

Als am 10. August 2019 letztmals die Love Mobiles mit wummernden Boxen ums Zürcher Seebecken gezuckelt sind, hat noch niemand geahnt, was der Welt und auch der Schweiz bevorsteht. Es war damals und bisweilen etwas bewölkter als auch schon, aber ansonsten alles wie's sein soll: 850'000 Raver:innen feierten in friedlicher Harmonie und das oft bis weit in den Sonntag hinein. Und als sie sich dann erschöpft aber glücklich voneinander verabschiedeten, dann nicht selten mit den Worten «Bis nächstes Jahr!».

Doch das nächste Jahr fand nicht statt und auch das übernächste nicht.

Vor diesem Hintergrund ist diese 29. Ausgabe der Street Parade weit mehr als «nur» ein Umzug mit Techno-Lastwagen oder die grösste Technoparty der Welt, sie ist der würdige Stapellauf eines wiederauferstandenen Partylebens einer ganzen Generation. Selbstverständlich: Die Clubs dürfen seit Februar wieder Gäste empfangen, aber nach zwei Jahren Lockdown waren diese ersten Monate für viele Nachtleben-Macher:innen eine Phase des sich Wiederfindens, des Schutt-Wegräumens und nur allzu oft auch des Löcher-Stopfens. Zudem war das Nightlife in vielen anderen Ländern noch bis weit in den Frühling mit Massnahmen zugeschnürt, ganz zu schweigen von umständlichen bis unmöglichen Reisebestimmungen auch für DJs.

Die lange Zeit des Social Distancings ist vorbei und die Street Parade die perfekte Gelegenheit, um das Comeback der Zwischenmenschlichkeit zu zelebrieren.

Auch wenn wir aktuell mit einem Krieg konfrontiert sind und uns durch eine Inflation manövrieren müssen, so ist es trotzdem höchste Zeit, wieder zu einer positiven Einstellung zu finden und um den Kopf nach vielen Monaten der schweren Gedanken ordentlich durchzulüften. Und was bitteschön würde sich da besser eignen, als das Comeback der Street Parade an einem (hoffentlich) wolkenfreien und heissen Sommertag, umgeben von circa einer Million Gleichgesinnter?

Welcome back Lebensfreude, welcome back Ausgelassenheit, willkommen zurück Street Parade.

On August 10, 2019,when the love mobiles with their throbbing sound boxes chugged along – for the last time –around the Zurich Lake basin, nobody could guess or foresee what the world and Switzerland as well would soon be facing. At the time, it was somewhat more cloudy than on other days but otherwise everything was the way it was supposed to be! A total of 850,000 ravers partied in peaceful harmony, and that frequently far into Sunday. Exhausted but happy, they finally said goodbye to each other, often also adding «Until next year!».

But there would be no next year, or even a year after that.

Before that background, the present 29th edition of the Street Parade is far more than «merely» a parade with Techno trucks or just the largest Techno party worldwide. Much rather, it is the worthy launch of a revived party life of an entire generation. Of course: Since February, clubs have been able to receive guests again. But after a two-year lockdown, these first months were – for many night-life providers – a phase of finding themselves again; a phase of clearinag away debris and all too often even of mending holes. Moreover, nightlife in many other countries still remained tied up with administrative measures until far into the spring period, not to speak about many cumbersome or even impossible travel regulations – for DJs as well.

The long period of social distancing is finally over, and the Street Parade is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the comeback of interpersonal relationships.

Although we are currently confronted by a war and although we have to maneuver through a time of inflation, it is high time to get back a positive attitude again and properly aerate our heads again after those many months of dark and serious thoughts. And what could be better suited than the comeback of the Street Parade on a (hopefully) cloudless and hot summer day, surrounded by nearly one million kindred spirits?

Nothing.

Welcome back, zest for life; welcome back, high spirits and exuberance; welcome back, Street Parade.

Electronic Love

«Ja, ich will», lautet unsere Antwort zum Love Mobile von Soundcity Stuttgart. Der Verein startet in diesem Jahr unter dem Motto «Electronic Love» und hat dazu eine Hochzeitskapelle auf Rädern gebaut. Verliebte Blicke aus der Menge sind dabei garantiert. Erst recht, wenn dabei Jens Lissat (Bild) von der Kanzel spielt. Seit über 40 Jahren ist der Hamburger DJ im Geschäft und zählt zu Deutschlands House-Pionieren. Ebenfalls an der Techno-Trauung dabei sind Nino Locksen und die Soundcity Stuttgart Allstars.

«Yes, I will» is our answer to the love mobile of Soundcity Stuttgart. This year, the club is starting under the motto «Electronic Love» and had built a wedding chapel on wheels for that purpose. Lovestruck looks from the crowd will be guaranteed. All the more so when Jens Lissat (photo) will play from the pulpit. The DJ from Hamburg has been in the business for more than 40 years and counts among the House pioneers in Germany. Nino Locksen and the Soundcity Stuttgart Allstars are also part of the Techno wedding.

Klaus kommt raus! An den übrigen Wochenenden vom Jahr stellen sich die Menschen noch bis am Sonntagnachmittag in die War teschlange, um von der einzigartigen Magie des Clubs unter der Zürcher Langstrasse verzaubert zu werden. An der Street Parade steigt der bunte Haufen ausnahmsweise die Treppen hoch und hängt seine Discokugeln unter freiem Himmel auf. Mit dabei ist auch ein exquisites Line-up von Resident-DJs. Klaus kommt raus! [Klaus comes out] On the other weekends of the year, people will still queue up until Sunday afternoon to be enchanted by the unique magic of the club under Zurich’s Langstrasse. On the day of the Street Parade, the colorful group will make an exception and come up the stairs –to hang up its disco or mirror balls under the open sky. Besser kann man sein Musiklabel nicht aus der Taufe heben: Die Street Parade waltet als Geburtshelferin für BabaBeatZH, dessen Love Mobile der erste Auftritt des jungen Kollektivs sein wird. Unter dem Motto «Community on a balcony» gestalten die Babas und Babinen ihr LoMo als abgefahrensten Balkon aller Zeiten und lassen ihn unter anderem Don Ramon, Patula, San Marco und der Zürcher Electro-Institution (Bild) beschallen. There is no better way to mark the «birth» of one’s music label: The Street Parade acts as an obstetric assistant for BabaBeatZH whose love mobile will be the first performance of the young collective. Under the motto «Community on a balcony», the babas and babines design their LoMo as the funkiest and most wicked bal cony of all times and have it filled with sound, among others by Don Ramon, Patula, San Marco and Zurich’s (photo). One Nation

Für One Nation ist die Street Parade Nationalfeiertag. Seit 13 Jahren sind die Love Mobiles des Schweizer Labels nicht mehr aus dem Umzug wegzudenken. In diesem Sommer geht es mit der Farbkombination Blau und Weiss auf Tour –hoffentlich lässt sich davon auch der Himmel fürs Wetter inspirieren. An den Decks finden sich einige der erfahrensten und bekanntesten Namen der nationalen Clublandschaft: Mr. Da-Nos, LeeRoy, Sven May und Black Spirit (Bild) spielen die One-Nation-Hymnen aus den Bereichen House und EDM.

Synergy

Seit 2005 sorgt der Westschweizer Veranstalter Synergy dafür, dass der Schweiz die grossartigen Trance-Partys nicht ausgehen. Ein jährliches Highlight ist ihr Love Mobile, das in diesem Jahr unter dem Banner «The Future is Now» steht. Zum Aufspielen der Zukunftsmusik reisen die DJs international an. Mit dabei sind unter anderem Giuseppe Ottaviani aus Italien, Nifra (Bild) aus der Slowakei und Steve Dekay aus Kolumbien. Im Anschluss zur Street Parade feiert die Synergy weiter in der Alten Kaserne.

Since 2005, Synergy – the promoter from western Switzerland – has taken care that Switzerland will not be short of great trance parties. An annual highlight is their love mobile which, this year, will be under the banner of «The Future is Now». In order to play the future music, the DJs will be coming internationally to the parade. Also on board are, among others, Giuseppe Ottaviani from Italy, Nifra (photo) from Slovakia and Steve Dekay from Columbia. After the Street Parade, Synergy will continue to party at Zurich’s «Alte Kaserne».

Daytona

«United Energy» lautet das diesjährige Motto von Daytona. Nur wenige Teams haben in der Geschichte der Street Parade so viel vereinte Energie in ihr Love Mobile gesteckt: Rekordverdächtige 21 Mal ist das Label bereits mit dabei. Für die diesjährige Ausfahrt steht mit DJ Tatana eine Trance-Pionierin und ein Superstar der nationalen Dance Music an den Decks. Verstärkt wird die mit mehrfach Gold- und Platin-Platten ausgezeichnete Chartsstürmerin unter anderem von Liquid Soul und Johan Gielen

«United Energy» is this year’s motto of Daytona. Only few teams in the history of the Street Parade put so much combined energy into their love mobile: The label has been part of the parade for a record-breaking 21 times. For this year’s drive, DJ Tatana is at the decks –she is a trance pioneer and a national dance music superstar. This charts buster – awarded with several gold and platinum records – will be supported, among others, by Liquid Soul and Johan Gielen

Carol Fernandez is Carol Kenzo

Die Berner DJ Carol Fernandez ist in der Vergangenheit bereits mit Love Mobiles ins Menschenmeer gestochen und hat dabei hohe Wellen geschlagen – doch für Carol Kenzo (Bild) wird es die allererste grosse Fahrt. Unter ihrem neuen Pseudonym konzentriert sich die Künstlerin auf Sets im Spannungsfeld zwischen House und Deep House. Unterstützt wird sie dabei unter anderem von DirtyAndy, Elia sowie der Sängerin Jean Pearl, die den Tracks mit ihrer Stimme den Extra-Kick verleiht.

In the past, DJ Carol Fernandez from Berne already put to the seas of people with love mobiles and made a lot of waves – but for Carol Kenzo (photo), it will be the very first major performance. Under her new pseudonym, the artist is concentrating on sets in the field of tension between House and Deep House. She is here supported, among others, by DirtyAndy, Elia, as well as the singer Jean Pearl who, with her voice, lends an extra kick to the tracks.

Sorry, Zürcher Opernhaus. Aber an diesem Tag spielt die Musik einige Meter weiter: Auf dem Sechseläutenplatz sorgen internationale Superstars des Technos für galoppierende Beats und lodernde Stimmung. Die spektakuläre Lichtshow sorgt zusätzlich dafür, dass jede und jeder den Weg ins Herzen der Street Parade findet.

Sorry, Zurich Opera house, but musical activities will be happening that day a few meters down the road: International Techno superstars will provide galloping beats and a blazing atmosphere at Sechseläutenplatz. In addition, a spectacular light show lets everybody find a way into the heart of the Street Parade.

Hart aber herzlich ist jeweils das letzte Love Mobile: Der Hardstyle Truck von Ravefield und Swiss Hardstyle Mafia ist der Schlusswagen im Konvoi um das Seebecken. Und sobald er um ca. 22:00 Uhr die Ziellinie erreicht hat, transformiert er zur Pop-up-Stage und spielt bis Mitternacht die härtesten Beats der Street Parade.

The respectively last love mobile in the parade has commonly always been hard and heartfelt at the same time: The hardstyle truck of Ravefield and Swiss Hardstyle Mafia is the last truck in the convoy around the Zurich lake basin. And as soon as it passes the finishing line at about 9:15 p.m., it will become a pop-up stage, playing the Street Parade’s hardest beats up until midnight.

Eine Stunde bevor das erste Love Mobile anrollt, dreht es traditionsgemäss beim Utoquai den Sound auf und startet damit offiziell den Anlass. Diese Ehre fällt 2022 einem ganz besonderen Gast zu: Erstmalig ist der legendäre Club Amnesia aus Ibiza mit einem LoMo dabei und bringt seine rauschenden Nächte nach Zürich.

One hour before the first love mobile rolls around, it traditionally turns up the sound on Utoquai – with its 120-year-old ‘bathing palace’ – thus officially starting the event. In 2022, this honor of opening the parade will be bestowed on a very special guest: For the first time, the legendary Amnesia club from Ibiza will participate with a LoMo – the short form for love mobile – bringing the club’s roaring nights to Zurich.

Der verlorene sohn

Andrea Oliva ist seit vielen Jahren einer der grössten Resident-DJs auf Ibiza. In diesem Jahr kehrt er nach Hause zurück, um mit seinem neuen Label AllIneed eine der Hauptbühnen der Street Parade zu präsentieren. Andreas EP vom Jahresanfang heisst passenderweise sogar «Alley Rave». Zufall? Wir glauben nicht! (Obwohl es definitiv einer ist.)

Die Street Parade hatte schon immer eine besondere Bedeutung für Andrea. «Mit 12 habe ich angefangen aufzulegen. Schon da war die Street Parade ein Mythos, aber ich war noch zu jung um hinzugehen. Mit 15 habe ich es geschafft und konnte in der Nähe vom Bahnhof vor wenigen Leuten spielen. Das hat mich sehr geprägt.» Auch weil es ein Event ist, der mehr als nur die Menschen, die elektronische Musik lieben, anspricht. «Die Street Parade ist so einzigartig, weil sich dort alles und jeder vermischt: Du hast Familien mit Kleinkindern – für sie ist das wie Fasching. Dann hast die Raver. Und ebenso alte Leute, die es sich einfach ansehen wollen. Es ist nicht das typische Techno-Festival.“ Es war lange ein Wunsch von Andrea, back to basics zu gehen und hier eine Stage zu haben, was ihm mit seinem Label nun gelungen ist. «Der verlorene Sohn geht zurück und hat die Ehre, eine so grosse Stage zu hosten», lacht er. «Ein Kreis schliesst sich damit für mich.»

Das Projekt AllIneed ist noch jung und genau das, was ihm in seiner Karriere gefehlt hat. «Ich wollte immer schon ein eigenes Label haben. In der Pandemie hatte ich so viel Zeit, und ich kenne so viele Menschen aus der Branche ... Jetzt würde es doch passen!» Es ist dabei mehr als nur eine Veröffentlichungsplattform. So findet in diesem Rahmen unter anderem auch eine Kollaboration mit Freunden aus der Modewelt statt. «Ich habe viele Punkte miteinander verbunden.» Was auch der Name ausdrücken will, denn alles was wir brauchen – vor allem nach den letzten Jahren – sind unsere Menschen, alte wie neue, nicht nur auf der Tanzfläche: «Es ist eine Message für open mindness.»

Und wie war das jetzt mit dem «Alley Rave»? «Ich habe nicht direkt an die Street Parade gedacht», lacht er wieder. «Es geht um all die kleinen Raves, die spontan irgendwo auftauchen.» Und die wir bestimmt auch am Rande der Street Parade finden werden – wo vielleicht sogar der nächste Andrea Oliva sein erstes Set spielt.

The lost son

Andrea Oliva is one the biggest names in Ibiza’s resident DJs for many years already. This year he will come back home in order to present one of the Street Parade’s main stages with his new label AllIneed. Fittingly, Andreas EP dating from the beginning of the year is even called «Alley Rave». Coincidence? We think not! (Even though it most certainly is.)

The Street Parade always had a special significance for Andrea. «I began deejaying at the age of 12. The Street Parade was already a myth even at that time, but I was too young to go see it. At age 15, I had made it and could play in front of a handful of people near the train station. This experience has really left its mark on me.» Just as well, because it’s an event not only aimed at those who love electronic music. «The Street Parade is so unique because everything and everyone mixes to mix and mingle: You’ll see families with small children – to them, it’s like Mardi Gras. Then you’ll see the ravers. And old people as well who just want to take a look. It just isn’t the stereotypical techno festival.» For a long time already, Andrea had the wish to go back to the basics and have a stage here, which he has now achieved with his label. «The lost son comes back and has the honor to host such a big stage», he laughs. «I’ve now come full circle.»

The project AllIneed is still young and exactly what was missing in his career. «I’ve always wanted to have my own label. During the pandemic, I had so much time and I know so many people in the industry and in the scene ... It just would make sense now!» Therefore, the label is more than just a publishing platform, as it also supplies a framework for collaborations with friends from the fashion industry. «There are so many things that I connected.» This is also expressed by the name, because ‘all we need’ – especially after the past couple of years – are our people, the old and the young, and not only on the dance floor. «It is a message for open-mindedness.»

So, what’s the thing now with this «Alley Rave»? «I did not really think of the Street Parade», he says while laughing again. «It is about all the small raves, spontaneously appearing somewhere.» And which we will find all along the Street Parade, for sure – where perhaps even the next Andrea Oliva will play his first set.

Als 1992 zum ersten Mal eine kleine Karawane aus Love Mobiles durch Zürich rollte, unternahm 400 Kilometer weiter nördlich ein Mann mit sympathischem Lachen ebenso seine ersten musikalischen Schritte – und schrieb in den kommenden Jahren Techno-Geschichte weit über Deutschland hinaus. Zunächst mischte Chris Liebing das Frankfurter Nachtleben auf, 1994 eröffnete er seinen eigenen Szeneladen Spinclub. Danach folgten Gründungen von Labels wie Audio und CLR. Letzteres zog eine gleichnamige Podcast nach, die sich schnell als zuverlässiger Tastemaker für zeitgenössische elektronische Musik etablierte. Auch mit seinen eigenen Alben «Evolution», «Burn Slow» und dem letztjährigen «Another Day» begeistert Chris nicht nur die Kritik im Feuilleton, sondern bringt Tiefgang und Seele auf den Dancefloor.

When a small caravan of love mobiles rolled through Zurich for the first time in 1992, a man with a pleasant smile from 400 km further up north was also taking his first musical steps and finally went on to write Techno music history extending far beyond the borders of Germany in the years to come. Chris Liebing began by making a splash in Frankfurt’s nightlife and, in 1994, he opened up his own fashionable in-place: the Spinclub. In the following, labels were founded – such as Audio and CLR. This last named was followed by a podcast of the same name which quickly established itself as a reliable tastemaker for contemporary electronic music. Wenn Monika Kruse oft als «First Lady of Techno» bezeichnet wird, dann nicht nur weil sie von Fans und Kollegen grossen Respekt geniesst. Die Berlinerin zählt auch zu den allerersten Protagonistinnen des Genres, die international für Furore sorgten. In den vergangenen drei Jahrzehnten hat Monika Kruse ihren Namen als stilbildende Akteurin ins Pantheon der elektronischen Musik geschrieben. Von DIY-Partys in der deutschen Strassenbahn bis zu gigantischen Gigs am Time Wrap, Limelight oder Burning Man hat Monika dabei stets das Publikum begeistert und eine neue Generation von DJs und Produzenten inspiriert. Im Jahr 2000 gründete sie ihr eigenes Label Terminal M, das zum kreativen Zuhause von Acts wie Pig&Dan oder ANNA wurde. Daneben engagiert sich Monika für wohltätige Zwecke, gründete das Antirassismus-Projekt No Historical Backspin und sammelte mit Charity-Events im Berghain zehntausende Euros für die Amadeu Antonio Stiftung.

Monika Kruse is often called the «First Lady of Techno» – and not only because she is held in high esteem by both fans and colleagues. But also because the Berlin-native was one of the very first protagonists of the genre to become all the rage internationally. Over the course of the last three decades, Monika Kruse has been engraving her name as a pioneering player in the pantheon of electronic music. From DIY parties in German tramways – all the way to gigantic gigs at festivals such as Time Wrap, Limelight, or Burning Man, Monika was always adept at enthralling the audience, as well as inspiring a new generation of DJs and producers. In the year 2000, she founded her own label Terminal M which became the creative home of acts like Pig&Dan or ANNA. At the same time, Monika is involved in charity work, she founded the anti-racism project No Historical Backspin, and she also collected tens of thousands of Euros for the Amadeu Antonio foundation through charity events in Berlin’s Berghain club.

Und so engagiert sich Ida Engberg neben ihrer Karriere als DJ und Produzentin auch für zahlreiche Umweltschutzprojekte, mitgründete während der syrischen Flüchtlingskrise den Spendenanlass Techno for Humanity und wurde vor zwei Jahren von den Vereinten Nationen zur Sonderbotschafterin ernannt. Mit ihrem Willen, positiven Wandel vorzuleben und einzuleiten, ist Ida zur Inspiration auch ausserhalb der Technoszene geworden – dabei fing alles 2002 in einer Bar in Stockholm an, wo die damals 18-Jährige einsprang, nachdem der eigentlich gebuchte DJ kurzfristig abgesagt hatte. Es folgte ein kontinuierlicher Aufstieg in der europäischen Clubszene und mit Sébastien Légers Remix ihres Tracks «Disco Volante» schliesslich der grosse Durchbruch auf die ganz grossen Bühnen von Miami bis Moskau.

People on our planet should be able to live comfortably and party boisterously for 50 or a 100 years yet to come. That’s why, in addition to her career as a DJ and a producer, Ida Engberg campaigns for numerous environmental protection projects; also, together with others, she set up the donation platform Techno for Humanity during the Syrian refugee crisis, and two years ago, she was appointed special ambassador by the United Nations. Her will to introduce positive changes and be a living example for such changes made Ida an inspiration – even outside the techno culture scene. Bear in mind that it all started at a bar in Stockholm in 2002 where Ida, then 18 years old, just helped out after the originally booked DJ had canceled at short notice. What followed was a continuous rise through the European club culture and, with Sébastien Léger’s remix of her track «Disco Volante», she finally had her major breakthrough and made it to all the really big stages from Miami to Moscow.

Wo Veranstalterin Terrazzza zum Rave einlädt, wird die Nacht zum Tag oder der Tag zur Nacht. Legendär ist beispielsweise das Horse Park Festival, zu dem im vergangenen Juni Tausende Menschen antrabten und während zwei Tagen die Fächer schwangen. All over the festival grounds, you will find numerous food stands; but those wanting to feast through a complete street food mile should swing their hips towards the Dance Village. About 25 market stalls with international treats and delicacies will satisfy your hunger and fill up your personal power bar for another few hours in the milling and bustling crowd. The afterparty actually is called odyssey; but luckily, the trip from the Street Parade to the X-TRA is only a few streetcar stations away. In its eventful history, the venerable house at Limmatplatz already welcomed countless superstars and will also do it after this year’s Street Parade: Altogether three Opéra stage acts will go into extra time at the X-TRA, namely Chris Liebing, Ida Engberg und Reinier Zonneveld.

At midnight, when the last bar has been played at the major stages all around the Lake basin, dozens of clubs all over town will take over the beat and continue to party until the birds start singing on Sunday morning. More colorful than a sweets store – that’s what the dazzling madhouse at the lakefront is like – especially during the Street Parade. At 17:00 p.m., the party by promoter BaBaLu will start on the gorgeously pretty rooftop. The interior area will also open up starting at 22:00 p.m., and the DJs will kick the party literally to another level. Für die von Kobold Events veranstaltete Straaaparade wird nämlich die Wunderbar im Erdgeschoss zum Dancefloor ausgebaut, womit dem Publikum zwei Afterpartys in einer Location geboten sind. Das DJ-Line-up wird noch angekündigt, fest steht aber bereits die Soundline aus Tech- und Melodic House.

Irrespective of how many longdrinks one already had during the day: That night, one will see double at the Wunderbox. Because for the Straaaparade, organized by Kobold Events, the Wunderbar’s ground floor will be converted to a dance floor so that the public will be offered two afterparties in one location. Zurich‘s nightlife without the Hive would be like Paris without the Eiffel Tower. Far beyond the country borders, the Club enjoys its reputation as an institution for electronic music. For some years, the afterparty Strassenparade is also a fixture of the program and thus, among others, the DJ-Teams Super Flu, Andhim and Animal Trainer will be humming through the night.

Sie verleiht der diesjährigen Street Parade das strahlende Gesicht: Die Zürcher Künstlerin Feggy Min hat das Artwork für den Anlass gestaltet. Die 33-Jährige ist eine leidenschaftliche Illustratorin mit weltweiter Anerkennung. Zürich hat in ihrem Künstlerinnenherz einen speziellen Platz, wie sie farbenfroh und knallig in ihrem Werk für die TechnoFeier offenbart.

She lends a radiant face to this year’s Street Parade: The artist Feggy Min from Zurich created the artwork for the occasion. The 33-year-old is a passionate illustrator with a worldwide recognition. Zurich has a special place in her artist heart as she discloses in her colorful and gaudy work for the Techno celebration.

Als erstes grosses Projekt in der Schweiz setzt dieses Artwork einen Meilenstein in Feggy Mins Kunstkarriere. Was in der Kindheit mit Basteln und dem Gestalten von Cartoons begann, führte nach etlichen realitätstreuen Portraitzeichnungen zum Verlangen, eine eigene Welt zu gestalten: «In meiner Welt leben alle Cartoons, Anime-Charaktere, Musiker, die wir gerne haben, und alle anderen Wesen zusammen. In meiner Welt soll man sich willkommen und wohl fühlenmeine Kunst soll an unbeschwerte Kindheitsmomente erinnern», verrät uns Feggy im Gespräch.

Zur diesjährigen Demonstration für Liebe und Freiheit hat Feggy Min im Homestudio, inmitten ihrer Anime-Sammlung, die allerbuntesten Stifte und Markers ausgepackt. Bleistiftüberbleibsel machen der Künstlerin nichts aus, man darf den Prozess an ihrem Werk erkennen.

Während der Kreation lässt sie sich selber spontan überraschen und ruft nach jahrelanger Erfahrung ganz automatisch neue Kreaturen ins Leben. Wer genau hinsieht, erkennt neben dem actiongeladenen Geschehen auch Zürichs Stadtbild in den diesjährigen Street-Parade-Visuals. Feggy Mins rohe Fantasie und Emotionen widerspiegeln sich direkt in der Kunst, weswegen auch ab und an düsterere Anfertigungen entstehen.

Als kontrastreiche Person kann sie sich so in jeder Gemütslage ausdrücken. Die Street Parade bezeichnet Feggy als willkommen heissenden Ort der Begegnung. «Wenigstens an diesem auserwählten Tag können wir alle ungezwungen wir selbst sein. Solche Events sind wichtig, damit wir uns hoffentlich in Zukunft auch in allen anderen Kontexten wohl fühlen können.»

As her first large project in Switzerland, this artwork is a milestone in Feggy Min’s career. What had started in her childhood with handicrafts and the design of cartoons resulted – after a lot of portrait drawings close to reality – in the desire to create her own world: «In my world, all cartoons, anime characters, musicians we like and all other creatures are living together. In my world, everybody wants to feel well and welcome; my art is to remind us of carefree childhood memories», Feggy tells us in our talk.

For this year’s demonstration for love and freedom, Feggy Min unpacked, in her home studio, her most colorful pens and markers in the middle of her anime collection. The artist has nothing against remnants of pencils; people may detect the process in her work. During her creation, she can be spontaneously surprised; and after many years of experience, she will bring to life new creatures quite automatically. Looking very closely, one can detect – in addition to the action-loaded events –Zurich’s town view in this year’s Street-Parade-visuals. Feggy Min’s raw phantasy and emotions are directly reflected in her art, which is why there are also gloomy works.

As a person rich in contrast, she can thus express herself in any mood. For Feggy, the Street Parade is a welcome meeting place. «At least on this selected day, we can all be casual and informal, i.e. we can be ourselves. Such events are important so that we will also be able to feel well in all other contexts in the future.»

How to get to the Street Parade

Einsteigen, hinsetzen, vorfreuen: Über 100 Nacht- und Extrazüge sorgen am Tag und in der Nacht dafür, dass du schnell, unkompliziert und ökologisch an die Street Parade, ihre Afterpartys und zurück nach Hause gelangst.

Mit dem City-Ticket der SBB ist die Zugfahrt zum Zürich HB und zurück inbegriffen. Auch sämtliche Fahrten im ZVV-Netz (Tram, Bus, S-Bahn) innerhalb der Stadtzone 110 sind inklusive. Das City-Ticket ist ein Kalendertag bis um 5 Uhr morgens vom Folgetag gültig. Ein Nachtzuschlag muss nicht mehr länger gelöst werden.

Erhältlich ist das City-Ticket online auf sbb.ch, an den meisten Billetautomaten der SBB sowie an Billetschaltern im Bahnhof.

Von der Anreise im Auto raten wir dringend ab. Ums Seebecken rollen an diesem Tag einzig die Love Mobiles, weshalb es keine Parkplätze gibt und wir lange Staus vermeiden wollen.

The SBB city ticket includes the train ride to Zurich’s main train station and back again. Also, all rides within the Zurich Transportation Network (ZVV) – streetcar, bus, suburban train – within the 110 city zone are inclusive. The city ticket is valid for one calendar day until 5 o’clock in the morning of the following day. It is no longer necessary to buy a night surcharge.

The city ticket is available online at sbb.ch, at most of the SBB ticket automats, as well as at the ticket counters in the train station.

We strongly advise against traveling by car. On the day of the Street Parade, love mobiles will be the only means of transportation which is why there are no parking spaces because we want to prevent any extended traffic jams.
