I
was a really fat baby. Getting to know my mother as I grew up, I'm pretty sure it's because she force fed me. (I saw her do this with my ten years younger brother when he was a babe.) When I got on my own with eating, I did what came naturally, however, and I only ate until I felt satiated. I also had a very high metabolism so in my teen years I could eat mountains of food and never gain an ounce. I weighed 71 pounds when I entered high school and being thin was a scourge to me. Constantly ridiculed, I had a poor self-image yet all the adults told me I would be glad for my thinness one day. With focused effort, I ever so slowly gained weight through the years reaching a whopping 98 pounds when I was 25. When I
40 pounds and returned to my former svelte self which I had so come to appreciate. I had myself back again! The amazing thing is that I didn't change my eating lifestyle to lose weight. I did so to clean up and losing the weight was a major added bonus! I completely stopped eating and drinking the following: gluten, corn, potatoes, sugar (including evaporated cane syrup, the new buzz word on health food labels), soda, animal flesh, dairy products. Although corn and potatoes are considered gluten-free, they are now all Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and I wanted to cleanse my body of all that so-called experimental science. The salt I use is high vibrational Himalayan salt purchased online at American Blue Green (AmericanBlueGreen.com). I also eat strictly organic so my food is much more nutritious and pure. Eating out is now taboo for me. I cannot trust or believe that the food, even if prepared from scratch, in mainstream restaurant kitchens is free from GMOs, regular salt, sugar and the ever so dangerous gluten. (Europe presently does not allow GMO farming and will not import food grown in America.) I make everything from scratch including things like mayonnaise which I make from almonds and olive oil. Yes, it takes more time but it's fun, creative time and I feel so much better now about what I am feeding my son.
became pregnant I was grateful to gain 40 extra pounds and I hoped I could keep some of that weight after my son was born. Within a week after the birth, like magic I was back to my previous size. I gave up and resigned myself to accept that I would always be thin. The years leading up to menopause came and I distinctly remember two women telling me one night that I would most definitely gain weight during that time, a lot of weight. I was slightly excited. And it did happen. I got what I had always wanted but a little too much of it. Isn't that interesting how when we get what we've wanted for so long, we no longer want it? I could say I gained 40 pounds overnight. It certainly seemed that way, but it took a few years. Now I had the interesting experience of being able to identify with people who are overweight. I couldn't bend over like I used to and breathing while doing it was more difficult. Running felt like I was a blob of blubber thumping step by step on acutely hard pavement. None of my clothes fit me and I felt I looked frumpy and fat in any new clothes I did buy. I kept saying, next week I'll start working out, I just need to get some exercise. And next week became next week and so on. I would see thin women out in public and think, I used to look like that, if only I had that back! Then on January 21 of this year I made an "about face" with my food consumption and this is when I realized that at least for me, it wasn't so much about how much food I was eating as what kind of food I had been eating. In two quick months, I lost all

I know many reading this will feel they don't have time and that is definitely a valid concern. You have to weigh what is more important to you. If it's your survival and you might like to stay out of doctors' offices and hospitals, you can creatively find the way to make a shift like this. What I learned is this. Not only had I come to begin eating emotionally, the extremely poor quality and poisonous nature of the foods I was eating was starting to wreak havoc in my body. Most people head down a collision course with diseases that end their lives and as I observe people placing foods they feel are nutritious in their baskets, I realize they are killing themselves and don't know it. We have given our blind trust (and our hard earned prosperity) to the food manufacturers and growers and in turn, they take our money, abuse their workers and give us crap for food. You see, big corporations like Monsanto have us by controlling our food supply. (If you control the food supply, you control the population.) Corn, potatoes and wheat aren't what they used to be decades ago. They are all aberrations of their former selves, GMO contaminated, and most of us don't even question it. They will only cause destruction in your body. Take your power back. Do the research. Refuse to be controlled and basically forced to eat what can do nothing but harm to you. Join a high integrity organic food co-op (see page 15), connect with a group that can help and support you (see ads for the three new Wellness Centers this issue), grow your own food in your backyard and scrutinize your food labels. Let your physical transformation be a catalyst for transformation in all areas of your life as it has mine. May my profound experience give you encouragement and remember, we all have the power to change our lives!
Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
A Simple Tool that Will Transform Your Life by Reverend Dr. Cay Thompson Someone prayed:
“So
far
today,
God, I’ve done alright. I haven’t gossiped or lost my temper. I haven’t been grumpy, greedy, nasty, or selfish. But in a few minutes, God, I’m going to get out of bed, and from then on, I’m going to need a lot of help.” In years past, I have found it easy to give thanks when life experiences were happy, loving, and prosperous. Life was great before I got out of bed and began the activities of the day. I did have those other kinds of moments when giving thanks was not easy. As a teacher of five classes of high school students that totaled about 150 active youngsters, all highly skilled in ways to upset authority figures, I had what I perceived to be ultimate challenges every day school convened. How could I be grateful and see the good in a teenager who had used socially unacceptable language in my classroom?
Sometimes this profanity was aimed at me because I dared to make changes on a student’s essay or had made corrections in grammar and spelling. Wasn’t my purpose as a teacher to perform these functions? Was I not there to correct, correct and correct some more each and every pupil because I was always right and had all the correct answers? Yes and no. Yes, my teaching role was to assist students to learn reading, writing and speaking skills, however I was there for much, much more than just to correct them. What I discovered, after studying in depth our Science of Mind Principles, was that I was also there to be their friend, to see their inherent goodness and encourage their creativity to come forth in spite of the occasional appearances to the contrary. My true role as a leader in the teaching profession was to always remember to give thanks for the Life of God within me and within those I was with throughout the day. As I listened to my Science teachers, there was an awakening in my consciousness to Truth Principles. As I began to practice certain Principles, such as giving thanks for my unlimited energy, strength, patience, and compassion, there were attitude shifts from my students. Their actions toward me and their peers became more respectful. My classroom was transformed into a joyous, active, and sought after learning center. How about your challenges in daily activities? Are you giving thanks for
all your experiences, even the challenging ones? Are you seeing the good in everyone and in every situation? Our New Thought/ Ancient Wisdom teaching provides us with tools to practice Universal Truths, to practice ways to become more abundant, to practice ways to be healthier and more loving Spiritual Beings through all our human experiences. As you and I plant seeds of gratitude for Life Itself, we are making a positively good difference in our world. I know all good is coming about in Divine Timing. ~In loving gratitude and global peace. Rev. Cay Thompson, D.D. has been a Science of Mind (SOM) Practitioner for 47 years, a student of SOM for 51 years, a Religious Science Minister for 19 years, and a United Church of Religious Science (UCRS) Ecclesiastical Representative (Eastern/Mid-Western US) from 1999-2002. She was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity. Please see ad for Golden Triangle Center for Spiritual Living this page.

Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
The following excerpt is taken from the Chapter 2 of the book The Age of Miracles: Embracing the New Midlife by Marianne Williamson. It is published by Hay House (January 2008) and available at all bookstores or online at: www.hayhouse.com I began my career giving talks about A Course in Miracles in 1983. In 1992, I published my first book about it. In 2007, having been reading the book for three decades and lecturing on it literally thousands of times, I came out of meditation one day and thought, I’ve become an advanced student of the Course. Not an advanced practitioner, mind you, but an advanced student. And that took 30 years.
everyone this long. We know nothing until we know all the ways that we’re not who we should be. Only then do we have a chance at becoming the people we’ve wanted to be, and God intended us to be, from the day we were born. For that reason alone, these are sacred years. When you’re young, you can’t really imagine the ages of 50, 60, or 70 being “cool.” Actually, it often takes that long to understand what cool really means. You can’t really build a life till you’ve pulled together all the things you’ve finally come to understand about yourself. Life would be cruel if at just about the time you’ve finally figured it out, it reached some sort of predetermined disintegration. Just as adolescents must separate from their parents, you need to separate from the person you were before this point, to whatever extent that that person was not the real you. Finding out who we actually aren’t, we begin to learn at last who we actually are. In Beauty and the Beast, a beautiful prince turns into a horrible beast—until finally unconditional love turns him back into who he really is. Gee, that sounds like almost everyone I know.
What is it about spiritual knowledge that takes so long to digest? The trendy nature of much contemporary seeking would lead you to think that you spend a year or two at the ashram and voilà!—you’re at the mountaintop. But my experience argues otherwise. It takes a decade to understand the basic nature of spiritual principles, another decade while the ego tries to eat you alive, another decade while you try to wrestle it to the ground, and finally you begin to walk more or less in light. Anyone who thinks a spiritual path is easy probably hasn’t been walking one. What does all this mean: to embrace the light, walk in the light, and so on? What is all this light, light, light talk? In A Course in Miracles, light is defined as “understanding.” What a beautiful thought, that to see the light is to understand. By midlife, you’re probably aware enough to understand which of your issues most need attention. You’ve learned where you’re strong, but also where you’re weak. You know what parts of yourself to be proud of and what parts of yourself should change. You know what your issues are this lifetime. It might not be a time when you’re learning new things about yourself so much as understanding more deeply what you already know. And new levels of self-awareness bring new opportunities for breakthrough. This is not the time to stop working on yourself; it’s the time when you’ve finally accumulated enough clues to help crack the case and solve the mystery of why and how you’ve sabotaged yourself for so long. It’s not the time to give up and say, “This is just how I am. It’s too late to change.” Quite the opposite—it’s time to take a stand, once and for all, against the enemy inside. Don’t worry that it took you so long to get to this point. It takes
Years ago, after my first book was published, my lawyer recounted to me a conversation he’d had with my publisher. The publisher had made a comment about my being a “spiritual teacher,” to which my lawyer had replied, “She’s not! She writes books about spirituality, but she’s not a spiritual teacher.” I remember wanting to say, “Actually, John, I think I am a spiritual teacher,” but I didn’t, out of fear that it would appear immodest. Who was I to call myself that? Yet as it says in A Course in Miracles, we create what we defend against; in an effort to dissuade people from thinking I thought of myself as any big deal, I acted in a way that ensured they would. Oh, you think I’m so spiritual? Watch this! I can be stupid, too! Thinking it was humble to do so, I dissociated who I was when I wasn’t working from the more enlightened persona that came naturally to me when I was. The ego defends the “separate self,” leading to thoughts that lead to behavior that often reflect our “opposite.” That is what many of us are doing in this life: living the opposite of our truth, just as the beast was the opposite of the beautiful prince in the fairy tale. Hay House, Inc., an international leader in self-help and motivational publishing, will host its annual I Can Do It! Conference at the Tampa Convention Center, November 11-14, 2010. devoted pet owners, we cherish and welcome our animals into our lives and would go to any extreme to help our pets. Yet many times we overlook the obvious tools that the laws of the universe have given us. Whether we want the family dog to be healed, our horse to compete in barrel racing, or to have the latest in kitty condo luxury for Fluffy, we can put the universe in motion to get what we desire. Through the Law of Perpetual Transmutation our thoughts can funnel energy, already in motion, to manifest physically. Simply put, thoughts are things.

to protect and help the animals you love.
For instance, a strong consistent desire for a new puppy to become housebroken must start not just with the act of taking her outside to relieve herself after meals but also by saying, acting and believing that she is already trained. If you continuously picture in your mind that she will go to the door to be let out, she will not only understand that picture in your mind as communication for her to act this way, but you also set the universal energy in motion to reach this goal. Imagining her having accidents on your carpet will cancel out your initial positive goal (her being trained) and confuse her with your expectation (to have accidents). Keeping a consistent positive mental communication with her and the rest of the world is key, while worrying will only serve to disrupt your plans. When you need to ask for something for yourself or your pet, be as specific as possible. Write it down or create a vision board. But once you ask for something in prayer or meditation, do not ask again. Just believe it is already done or existing. Letting go of the need to control the situation allows you to fully give it to God. Continuing to show appreciation for the blessings you have, including those that you know are in transit, will affirm your wishes. Spiritual laws are there to assist us in our everyday lives, and we have the opportunity to put them into motion for the benefit of our pets. We owe it to our animals to remain positive in our thoughts and consistently believe in the best possible outcome. When you are grateful for the love and companionship your pet brings to you, and make time each day with them, you

Reading an article yesterday on how to detox from chemtrails I suddenly remembered a scene from “The Matrix.” In it, Agent Smith injects Neo with a scorpion-like bug. Neo wakes up, thinking it was just a dream. Later, in a car on the way to see Morpheus, Trinity and Switch extract the bug from Neo’s abdomen, much to the shock and horror of Neo. The dream wasn’t really a dream after all. Once again I marvel at how powerful this film is on the movement of humanity into higher consciousness evolution and the powerful forces which try to keep us back. Seeing the chemtrail story, it seems “The Matrix” was eerily prophetic. Besides its richly layered allegorical messages, we now see something far more startling: literally, things are embedded deep within us, and affect us without our knowing it. The evidence of chemtrails and what they do, presented by scientists, researchers and whistleblowers, is now too hard to ignore. This story provides the background on chemtrails and also how to detox: http://wireofinformation.wordpress.com/2009/09/30/ chemtrails-are-troubling-whistleblower-contacts-iahfwith-inside-info-on-chemtrails-how-to-detox-protectourselves/ The following links are listed at the end of the above article, and I found them absolute eye-openers. They will show you actual and microscopic photos of the inorganic fibers purged through the mouth using red wine and peroxide: http://www.carnicom.com/morgobs7.htm; http://www.carnicom.com/natural2.htm Kudos to Clifford Carnicom and Dr. Gwen Scott, N.D., a former CNN news anchor (!) who has now devoted her life to natural healing. According to the articles, Dr. Scott has studied with Deepak Chopra and with medicine men in every culture. Her testimony on Carnicom’s pages is quite riveting. Make sure you read the updates at the end; there is a procedure to purge 5x as much implants as using just red wine and peroxide. As ‘The Matrix’ Re-minded us, we must turn our attention deep within and purge even those things that we are not aware of. As Morpheus would say, “Welcome to the real world.” Irlianna Samsara is known for her columns in Velocity on the mystical nature of films entitled, Cinema Samsara. Mother Earth to Lover Earth
Shifting from
by Julie Norris • Contributing Community Editor
F
or the past few years, I’ve been encouraging folks to plant something, anything. It occurred to me that I was being somewhat hypocritical, though, as I hadn’t planted anything of my own since before my business opened. The normal excuses of being too busy or lack of funds got old after a bit, and having a new baby magnified the kind of example and environment I want to set for this magnificent new being. So, after a five year hiatus my sister and I planted herbs, wildflowers and veggies at a new community garden, which made the job much easier than if I had tackled the task on my own. As I prepared the raised bed with my bare hands, turning soil, pulling weeds, plucking that which did not belong, I experienced an immense release of energy and emotion that had built up. For me, the past year has been one of tremendous healing and reflection, rooting in and re-centering after an intense period of rapid change that weighed heavily on my physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. Returning to the soil, tending to nature for nourishment after all this time, brought me full circle to the space where so many ideas and dreams were inspired, ones that have now come to fruition. The earth welcomed me back

with a knowing sigh, purring contentedly as I scratched her belly. As I go about the joyful task of planning our fall planting, I look to the moon for guidance, seeking out her rhythm to plant new seeds for me to love all the way into the bellies of those souls I am blessed to share the bounty with. There’s something that happens when one grows their own food, a little satisfied zip in your step, an empowerment, a feeling of abundance, a willingness to share joyfully what mother earth gives so freely. Tuning in to nature’s rhythms, living in kinship with our biosphere, these are the imperative and bold moves we must make as a species if we are to create a more beautiful planet. Author Charles Eisenstein describes the shift as changing our perspective from “mother earth” to “lover earth” instead of taking from a parent as a child would, humanity is growing up to a more reciprocal relationship, like those with our most beloved, giving and receiving with consciousness around our actions or inactions. This moment in humanity is an epic one. As a whole, we’ve been acting like self-indulgent
youth, trashing the planet with little regard for consequences, and a know-it-all attitude. It’s time to transition into our adulthood, to be leaders, every one of us. The loudness of our American culture makes it difficult to discern a path to maturity, so I turn to indigenous peoples from around the world who have long lived in kinship with nature, for wisdom I might use to navigate the transformation. The insights of shaman and wisdom keeper, Little Grandmother, have resonated with me deeply. She, along with the twelve other Wisdom Keepers from around the world, has begun to speak out to non-indigenous societies about ancient wisdom and prophesy. Little Grandmother states: “The message is that we each are the Great I Am, we are the change, we are the strongest of the strong and whether or not you are a public speaker, or a stay-at-home mom doesn’t matter; what does matter is that in every moment of every day we are living from our hearts. Simple Steps to Big Changes –
With the Help of the Plants
by Emily Ruff, Contributing Green Editor Yes, the cliché is true: The only constant is change. If change is inevitable, why not harness its power in a direction you desire? So many of us desire health, energy, radiance and yet settle for fatigue and chronic illness, convinced that as we age, all of the changes that come inevitably must be for the worse. The beauty of the natural law of change is that it comes down to a simple choice. What kind of change do we want? Setting our intention to work in cooperation with the natural law of transformation towards positive change is the first step in witnessing the creation of our lives into that which we truly want. The glory of the inevitability of change is that we don't have to do it alone. Life, health, our bodies, and the planet will change whether we act or not. It is simply up to us in which direction it goes! It's not just the force of change itself that stands by our side, a willing accomplice in our transformation into health and radiance. Our plant allies also stand beside us, their green hands reaching up towards us, waving "I am here to help you!" For millennia, we humans have evolved alongside plants. Plants have provided us oxygen, food, medicine and shelter, truly nourishing our bodies, minds, and spirits. For thousands of years, plants have conspired towards our greatest health by providing the chemicals our body uses to nourish our very cells. It is a remarkable relationship, indeed! Herbal remedies can nourish change and open the door to health, and they don't have to be complicated. Welcoming one or two plant allies into your daily routine can help redirect the change in your health towards vitality, energy, and longevity. Here are a few herbs who love to be part of your daily routine and can simply but effectively walk beside you towards radiant wellbeing. Chickweed: This gentle lymphatic cleanser promotes a healthy immune system and also acts as a tonic for the respiratory system. Tropical Chickweed is found most of the year as a weed in our gardens, and True Chickweed pokes its head up during Florida's spring and early summer. Both are nutrient rich and a great source of minerals. Nettles: This weed nourishes the body to health, promoting a strong nervous system and urinary system, acting as an overall tonic. Nettles makes a lovely tea. Try a squeeze of lemon or a pinch of stevia for some pizazz or incorporate it into recipes calling for dark leafy greens. Seaweeds: The gifts of Mother Ocean provide an abundance of nutrients to support our endocrine, nervous, digestive, and immune systems. Try seaweeds in soups or salads or sprinkle onto your favorite foods. I use dulse as a substitute for salt and can't get enough of its tasty nutritive benefits. Turmeric: This tropical plant acts as a remarkable anti-inflammatory agent. Inflammation is implicated in many chronic patterns of illness and is increased with a diet rich in sugar, simple starches, and acidic foods, most of the standard American diet! Turmeric is a beautiful herb that can be taken in many forms daily to suppress the body's inflammatory response and allow cells and tissues to begin the healing process. Tulsi or Sacred Basil: This holy plant from India is considered one of the most divine plant spirits. In a Western perspective, it is considered one of the most potent adaptogenic herbs, helping relieve the body of the effects of stress. This tasty tea can be sipped throughout the day to promote harmony, calm, restore energy and vitality, and protect you from the ill effects of stress. Try one or all of these herbs in your daily life. They are simple but powerful friends, supporting your desire to direct that inevitable force of change in a positive direction, inviting greater health, better sleep, and a happier quality of life! Hypnobirthing: A man taking charge during childbirth?
I was a bit skeptical about hypnobirthing too, but there really is a way for men to take some of the strain on the big day. Article Courtesy of Metro.co.uk Hypnobirthing can ease the trauma of childbirth for everyone. I had always believed the maternity ward delivery room was a woman’s domain, that the man’s role consisted of calling for the ambulance or rushing his partner to [the] hospital, then waiting nervously in the hospital corridor praying for everything to be okay and over as quickly as possible. Or maybe, if my presence was absolutely demanded, stealing a drag on the laughing gas and saying patronizing things such as "Keep going, darling." So I prepared to be of limited use to my wife Candy. I would hold her trembling hand while absorbing her abuse, until that is, I reluctantly agreed to miss football and spend two whole Saturdays on a hypnobirthing course. I had no idea the man could play such a leading role in childbirth. But when push came to shove, there I was, relaxing my wife, focusing her breathing, working through the birth plan with the midwives and making informed decisions with confidence. I amazed myself. In my wife’s words, after the safe arrival of our baby Jude: "I was the body, you were the mind." Giving birth is the most natural thing a woman can do yet many female minds are filled with horror stories. Fear leads to tension which can restrict the body at a time when it needs to let nature take its course. Hypnobirthing offers hypnosis in labour and childbirth to women who want to be in control of a drug-free, comfortable delivery and get their men pulling their weight. Now more popular than ever in Britain, hypnobirthing is a complete antenatal education for whatever kind of birth you’re planning... Signing up to Berkshire HypnoBirthing, we joined three other couples eight weeks before their due date at a Pilates studio in Reading. The comprehensive course was split over two days and our hypnoteacher, Vanessa Turner, made learning each new topic easy, between lessons sending the group into a state of deep relaxation.
The group was then shown images illustrating the various stages of birth and a selection of calming hypnobirths on DVD. The men were in charge of relaxation-deepening exercises, helping dump negative energy and thoughts. "I teach a wide variety of techniques and encourage men to become fully involved," says Turner. "It builds their confidence, helps them trust themselves and means they can learn what a woman needs at different stages of labour and birth." During the breathing exercises I speak in a slow, calming voice to enhance a trancelike sensation, the idea being to maintain focus and reduce discomfort. Hypnobirthing bans words such as ‘pain’ and ‘contractions’ as these are considered negative –‘discomfort’ and ‘surges’ are preferred." "The benefits to mum are such that a woman can feel safer, can trust and let go during the process of giving birth more instinctively when she knows her partner is taking care of everything on the outside," adds Turner. "This means birthing can be a calmer and more comfortable experience where both mum and dad feel confident and in control to make whatever choices are necessary for a healthy delivery of their baby... The man’s role is crucial. He provides practical, emotional and physical support, much better than sitting in the corner wondering what he can do to help." Turner explained ten ways to achieve

Turner explained how thought precedes reality and how every emotion triggers a physical response. A section was devoted to big babies, a common fear, and the women were made to trust their inner knowledge or instinct, to trust that their body knows exactly what to do.

a gentle birth, the rationale for hypnosis in birth and how to block out birth nightmares. We were told to not even consider them and to leave out negative energy. The mind can only hold one thought at a time and the course places great importance on desire, belief, relaxation and visualization.

had been put on complete bed rest and told that her baby was not growing. I perceived there was hardly any energy moving to her abdomen, so did massage and energy healing on her every two weeks; the baby was growing and doing very well. I received a phone call from her the night she was scheduled to have a Caesarean section because the baby was breach. Having had previous success, I told her to come over and we could see if we could turn the baby with some energy assistance. That night the baby turned around and the next day the woman had a natural birth with no Caesarean. There is much that can be done with moving emotional, mental and physical energies to assist pregnancy and birth. Much of this is done by intention, using our breath and becoming aware on deeper levels, so it is important to realize how powerful we are. We can change things with just our thoughts and feelings. Remember, we have all the knowledge in the universe right inside of us. We have lived many lifetimes and can pull memory from any of them and tap into information from all of the ancient ones before us. This universal knowledge is always available to us. I see many women who are fearful and confused when pregnant. They all want to do what is right, but it can be very confusing with so much information out there. I would like to bring up how important it is to learn to meditate, to become aware of our breathing quiet enough to hear our inner voice so that we can feel what is right for us, our babies and their births. Each birth is different as there are different energies and emotions with each baby. Trusting and knowing we are all divinely guided can take practice. We must learn to trust ourselves. We can still take advice from people, but we must learn to feel if it is right for us. May all women come together in remembering our divinity, knowledge and wisdom about our birthing journeys. We each have something unique to share and give.

I often use different fruits and their vibrations and perhaps herbs and flowers to assist in changing energies and the contractions to make them easier for the mother and baby. You can slow or hasten the contractions, even lessen the pain levels. I have also been using vibrational tools, such as color and sound, to open and move energies in pregnant women, and have been successful in assisting with many different challenges. Beyond Positive Self-Talk
by David Botsford
A Technique for Getting Control of Negative Thoughts
I
n the film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” which is set in a psychiatric institution, one patient constantly rubs his hands and repeats, “I’m tired.” He continuously experiences powerful negative mental states which exhaust his energy, even though he is physically sedentary. To understand the Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy, we must recognize that our thoughts manifest an energy which is as powerful as electricity. The key is to control, transform and redirect that energy so that it consistently works to achieve our goals. This is often easier said than done! Many people have read and been inspired by books, seminars and DVDs about “positive thinking” and used the “self-talk” techniques of cognitive therapy, but still find negative thoughts creeping back in when caught off guard. Here is a way to get control over this process. According to metaphysics, the universe consists of a vast mass of formless “stuff” from which forms, including material objects, living organisms, spiritual entities and conscious thoughts, are manifested. This “stuff” is known in the East as mana, prana or qi, and in the West as animal magnetism, the Od or Odic force* and orgone energy. However, it is not necessary to believe this in order to use this technique. Skeptics find it just as effective.
left hand be transformed into the positive energy in the right so that it becomes uniform. Let that positive energy fill your body, mind and spirit. Finally, take action in accordance with this transmutation. Thinking alone will not achieve your goals. As Wallace Wattles put it, “By thought, the thing you want is brought to you; by action you receive it.”* *Odic force: The name given in the mid-nineteenth century to a hypothetical vital energy or life force by Baron Carl von Reichenbach. Von Reichenbach coined the name from that of the Norse god Odin in 1845. **Wallace Wattles, “The Science of Getting Rich,” Elizabeth Towne, Holyoke, 1910, p. 104. Our internal train of thought derives from pre-verbal energy which manifests into forms of words, pictures, sounds and feelings. These forms have sub-modalities, the components of which sensory experiences are made. Visual sub-modalities include brightness, focus, size, color or monochrome, still or moving. Auditory sub-modalities include volume, speed, tone and location. Kinesthetic (feeling) sub-modalities include heat, size, location, roughness, weight and motion. Focus on how you experience negative thoughts (instead of on their content). Are they pictures, sounds, feelings, or a combination? Once you have identified such a thought, alter it so that you become aware of the energy behind it (blur a picture, distort a sound or word and soften a feeling). Notice the submodalities: recognize a color, a sound, a feeling you can identify with negative energy. Imagine placing this negative energy in your left hand. Now think about the most positive, empowering experience you can remember. Experience the details. Similarly, change the specific memory into the positive energy from which it’s derived. Notice the sub-modalities of this positive energy: its color, sound and feeling. Imagine putting it into your right hand. Let it expand, growing like a mushroom until you can really sense its power. Then cup your hands and let the negative energy from the Velocity Magazine | WE ALL HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE OUR LIVES | September • October 2010

writes in her new book, Women Food and God (Scribner Books),“The bottom line, whether you weigh 340 pounds or 150 pounds, is that when you eat when you are not hungry, you are using food as a drug, grappling with boredom or illness or loss or grief or emptiness or loneliness or rejection.” In April, I read Women Food and God in one fell swoop. Yesterday, approximately ten weeks later, I picked it up to reread because yes, I loved it that much. When I read the sentence “…our relationship to food is an exact microcosm of our relationship to life itself…,” I realized that I had wolfed down the book just like I do food. I have learned, through my studies with Debbie Ford, that how you operate in any one area of your life shows how you operate in every area. It makes perfect sense that how I show up to eat is how I show up in life. You know what happened next? I asked myself, How do I show up when I eat? My answer was not pretty, but very enlightening. I eat too fast. I eat like there will not be enough to satisfy me and what is there will be taken away. I eat whatever I want with no regard as to whether it is good for me. I look for comfort and love. I deprive myself. I set ridiculous expectations

for myself. I don’t have a happy middle ground with food. There is no balance. Ask yourself the same question: How do I show up when I eat? Take three long, slow breaths and be honest. Do you use food to avoid discomfort, to drown out the yelling of a jealous spouse? Or do you have so much fear of rejection that you have to stuff yourself? What are you numbing? What is it that you feel you can’t tolerate? What is it that you lack? I asked a friend of mine, Marianne, what “our relationship to food is an exact microcosm of our relationship to life itself,” meant to her. She gave me a beautiful illustration: “I never sit at my table. I have a dining room table immediately off of my kitchen. I usually just eat standing in the kitchen because my boys are grown or don’t eat when I do. After reading Women Food and God I set the table one day for lunch. I put out two lovely place mats—one for me, one for God. I did the whole place setting deal and made it just perfect, just for me and my 'guest.' The moment I sat down with my little plate of food, and noticed the lit candles, the china, silver, napkins–—all for me, by me—I began to sob. I knew at

that moment I was on to something. A chord/cord had been touched deep inside of me. The microcosm is that I live my life so often as if I’m not worth the effort, not worth the love and attention we would go out of our way to give someone we truly loved and adored. That first sitting was a blast of insight into how I connect eating with myself.” My friend and fellow coach, Joyce, gave another example. “My relationship with food is intimately connected to my life. From my earliest memory as a small child, food was given to me as comfort. My environment could be so volatile around me and with my mom feeling so helpless, she would give me and my siblings food to settle us. So when I look at my life over my adult years it is plain to me that I developed a pattern of using food as a way to numb stress and cope. As I heal more of my internal pain, I see my connection to food and my body becoming healthier. When I choose to allow food to nourish me, my life becomes more balanced, more alive and peaceful!” When you are faced with a choice, ask yourself this: Will the choice bring me more self-love and sustain me or keep me tied to the past and exhaust me? Give yourself twenty minutes in which you won’t be disturbed, and journal on the following questions with genuine curiosity: • What is the relationship you have with food? • Do you nourish your body with homemade, healthy food and drink plenty of water? Or do you eat to fill emptiness? • Where else does that emptiness show up? In your career, your relationship to God, or your marriage? • What are your shadow foods, or the ones you try to hide or deny? Is it fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy? How about chocolate crêpes or fast food hamburgers? • What is the food that makes you salivate? • What are your shadow behaviors around food? Do you drink milkshakes and throw away the cup so no one will see it? Do you drink beer and inhale a family-size bag of potato chips in one sitting? Do you hide food? • What action can you take this week in your relationship with food? Could it be to feed your soul in nature, walk in the woods, or take a yoga class? As you journal, pay attention to secrets, thoughts or feelings you’ve censored. Be curious about what’s hidden in them and ask where else in your life these feelings show up.

2012:Preparing for Change by Rev. Andrew Cekun
In my previous articles, details were provided concerning the Planetary Initiation of 2012, including events that are to manifest at the physical level on the earth that will most certainly forever change the present order of things on the planet. To summarize, the entity called in esoteric philosophy the Planetary Logos (the stupendous being ensouling the Earth) is undergoing a cosmic Initiation (a term used in the Ageless Wisdom teachings to describe a major expansion of consciousness). This affords humanity an extraordinary opportunity to experience the same type of Initiatory experience on the personal level, due to the intensified and accelerated energies on the earth during the period leading up to December 2012. Perhaps my own experience in coming to terms with 2012 can give a real-life example of the positive potentials available to anyone willing to accept reality and do the necessary spiritual work. In late 2005 when the Masters of Wisdom, who guide our evolution, first released the details about 2012, my initial reaction was one of shock and sorrow. I had first to meditate, contemplate, and confirm the information in the truth of my Higher Self. Then came acceptance of the possibility of limited time on earth in a physical body, and coming to terms with my own mortality. Finally came facing hard truths about 2012 and difficult choices about the future. I had to reorder priorities in my life. The challenge was how to best use time and opportunity given the imminent changes coming in 2012. It was evident that current New Age teachings about 2012 were unrealistic and inadequate for preparing for the most significant event in human history to occur in thousands of years. I had to return to my foundations in the esoteric doctrine and Ageless Wisdom Teachings. A rededication and intensification of my spiritual practice led to me experience a major expansion of consciousness (Initiation). This occurred just after only six months or so of intensified effort; first applying,

then living, and finally becoming the Ageless Wisdom teachings I had studied for 30 years. An intensely personal experience confirmed the truth about 2012. The dates of the pole shift in 2012 are December 17-18, dates only known by me and a chosen few familiar with this work. My beloved father made his transition called death on December 17, 2009, exactly three years to the day of the physical events of 2012. It was as if my father were giving me a final, validating message. I have now chosen to dedicate my life to preparing the minds, hearts, and souls for the Planetary Initiation of 2012 as my path of service. I am exploring options for relocation to safe areas of the planet that will be spared most of the physical destruction. Will you join me in my quest to seize the unrepeatable opportunities for spiritual growth and consciousness expansion now offered by the Planetary Initiation of 2012? The Rev. Andrew Cekun is an esoteric Astrologer and Teacher. A student of the Ageless Wisdom teachings for 30 years, he educates about the Path of Initiation. The following excerpt is taken from the book
FRACTAL TIME; The Secret of 2012 and a New World Age, by Gregg Braden. published by Hay House available at all bookstores or online at: www.hayhouse.com by Gregg Braden “For I dipped into the future, far as human eye could see, Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be.”— Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809–1892), poet We’re living the end of time. Not the end of the world, but the end of a world age—a 5,125-year cycle of time—and the way we’ve known the world throughout that time. The present world age began in 3114 b.c. and will end in a.d. 2012. Because the end of anything also marks the beginning of what comes next, we’re also living the start of what follows the end of time: the next world age, which ancient traditions called the great cycle. From the epic poems of India’s Mahabharata to the oral traditions of indigenous Americans and the biblical story of Revelation, those who have come before us knew that the end of time was coming. They knew, because it always does. Every 5,125 years, the earth and our solar system reach a place in their journey through the heavens that marks the end of precisely such a cycle. With that end, a new world age begins. Apparently it’s always been this way. For at least four such cycles (or five, according to the Mesoamerican traditions of the Aztec and the Maya peoples), our ancestors endured the changes in global magnetic fields, climate, diminishing resources, and rising sea levels that come with the end of time. They did so without satellites and the Internet or computer models to help them prepare for such a radical shift. The fact that they lived to tell the story stands as a powerful testament to an undeniable truth: it tells us beyond any reasonable doubt that the inhabitants of our planet have survived the end of world ages in the past. Beyond simply surviving, our ancestors learned from the difficulties that can accompany the change. In the words of their day, they did their best to tell us what it means to live such a rare moment in history. It’s a good thing they did, because such events are few and far between. Only five generations in the last 26,000 years have experienced the shift of world ages. We will be the sixth. The present world age isn’t something that will simply fade away into the sunset of a time that seems to perpetually linger somewhere “out there” in our future. Just the opposite: our world age has an expiration date. It ends

at a specific time, with a specific event, on a day that was marked on a calendar more than 2,000 years ago. There is no secret about that date. The Maya who calculated it also inscribed ititasasa apermanent permanent record future generations. record for for future generations. The The is etched monuments to date date is etched into into stonestone monuments that that werewere builtbuilt to last last the end of time. untiluntil the end of time. When the date is translated to our familiar system of time, the message becomes clear. It tells us that our present world cycle will conclude with the winter solstice that takes place on December 21 in the year 2012. It’s on this date that the mysterious Maya identified the astonishing astronomical events that will mark the end of our age . . . and they did so more than two millennia ago. The reason: Physically, our solar system is moving through shortest part of an orbit that looks like a flattened circle, an ellipsis whose far end carries us to the most distant point from the core of our home galaxy, the Milky Way. The physical effect: Both ancient traditions and modern science tell us that our location in this cyclic orbit determines how we experience the powerful sources of energy, such as the “massive magnetic fields,” which radiate from our galaxy’s core.2 Recent studies suggest that it is precisely such cycles that may explain the mysterious patterns of biodiversity—the rise and fall of life on Earth, such as the mass extinctions that happened 250 and 450 million years ago.3 Additionally, modern discoveries confirm that Earth’s position throughout the journey (orbit, tilt, and wobble) create the ever-changing cycles that influence everything from temperature and climate to polar ice and the magnetic fields of the earth.4 Details of these effects will be discussed throughout the book. The emotional/spiritual effect: As we travel farther from our galaxy’s core, our distance from the energy located there was described by ancient traditions as the loss of a connection that we sense both spiritually and emotionally. Scientific links between the quality of Earth’s magnetic fields, how they’re affected by cosmic conditions, and our feeling of well-being seem to precisely support such ancient beliefs.
Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
In the same way that Earth’s rotation makes the darkest part of the night appear just before the dawn, our position in the heavens is such that the darkest part of our world age appears right before our heavenly orbit begins the return that brings us closer to our galaxy’s core. With that return, we experience relief from the cataclysmic forces of the cycle’s darkness. And just as the night must pass in order to get to the new day, the only way to arrive at the light of the next cycle is to finish the darkness of this one. We all know that dark experiences definitely exist in our world, and we don’t need to look far to find them; however, there’s also more to life than the suffering that the ancients foresaw—much more. Even in our time of great darkness, the polarities of peace, healing, love, and compassion are alive, well, and abundant. Our ancestors had an amazingly deep grasp of just what our experience of cosmic cycles means on multiple levels. Somehow they knew that Earth’s position in the heavens would affect the physical conditions in our world, as well as the emotional and spiritual experiences that we need to embrace them. Through myth, analogy, and metaphor, they reminded us that the farther we travel away from the source of such powerful energy, the deeper we are in darkness and the more out of sync we find ourselves with the fields that influence life here on Earth. From the traditions of the Hopi to the ancient Vedas, it’s this experience of separateness that is credited with our sense of being lost as well. Our ancestors cautioned that at the most distant point in our cycle, we would forget who we are—our connectedness to one another and the earth. They told us that we would forget our past. It’s precisely this disconnected feeling that seems to be the consequence of the cyclic journey that carries us to the far end of our galactic orbit. It’s also the fear that is spawned by such feelings that has led to the chaos, war, and destruction at the end of cycles past. The key to 2012 and our time in history is to understand the language of nature’s cycles and to use that language today to prepare for the future. Ultimately we may discover that our ability to understand and apply the “rules” of Fractal Time holds the key to our deepest healing, our greatest joy, and our survival as a species. For over 20 years he has searched the remote monasteries of Egypt, Peru, and Tibet for the life-giving secrets that were encoded in the language of our most cherished traditions. His work has led to such pioneering books as The God Code, The Divine Matrix, The Spontaneous Healing of Belief, and his newest Fractal Time. The Magic
I
by Ann Moura
t is now fairly common knowledge through the science of physics that energy cannot be destroyed, only changed. This fact can be linked with new discoveries and theories about the nature of thought, the fact that thinking consumes calories, and since energy can only be transmuted, something comes from the thought process. This has led to positing how the energy of thought affects a person’s perception of physical reality; how like energies are attracted to each other (hence, the power of positive thinking); and how thought may also construct physical reality from free-floating molecules that do not align into a pattern until a person mentally perceives what the pattern should be. The far-reaching implication is that our thoughts have even greater power than previously suspected, and this power can be engaged and applied to our everyday lives. Besides being indestructible, energy is in constant motion, from the subatomic level and beyond. This means that our solid kitchen tables are actually in motion on the molecular level, and indeed, we trade off molecules with everything in our surroundings. This energy motion means that change is a constant possibility, and with conscious thought we may direct, mold, blend, and ward energy as needed to help us achieve our goals or alter the patterns of our lives through such means as prayer, magic, divination, creative visualization and meditation.  The flow of energy is also cyclic, so we need to be mindful that when we work with energy, we do so in an ethical and constructive manner. In magic, the same energy pull between the moon and earth that affects the tides can be drawn upon for

aid in creating the changes we want. The lunar phases are associated with the strength and direction of energy flow and this is integrated into magical workings to achieve the optimal result. The waxing phase allows for new beginnings, initiating projects, creating something, or making new moves. The magic can be seen as coming into fruition as the moon turns full. The waning moon provides an energy boost for pushing away unwanted things, releasing negativity, restoring balance, cleansing, and engaging in quiet studies, meditation, and introspection as well as doing divination, spirit contact, or astral journeying. The magic work of the waning moon can be visualized as reaching fulfillment with dark moon. Â

y understanding and accepting that energy exists, that it is in constant movement, and that the power of thought affects the action of energy, a person can draw upon energy to effect needed changes in life. Because we know that thinking actually consumes calories, we also know that the mind is not some dormant thing, and thus our very thoughts involve vitality. Using the mind for visualization of what we desire and how we want our lives to be draws us into the greater energy flow around us, allowing us to shape that flow in a manner that will bring our dreams into manifestation.

As we are completing a 26,000 Galactic cycle and moving through this time of the Great Shift (culminating around 2012) change seems to be a constant theme. The concept of change brings to mind the idea of rhythm. If we look to nature and its cycles, although they are ever-changing, there is a constancy in their rhythm. Our lives and our world are continually moving through cycles that facilitate our growth and evolution. But remember that each day, month, season, year and even galactic cycle always returns to start anew. Consciously tuning into the various cycles can have a balancing and stabilizing effect on our body, mind and spirit and assist us in negotiating these ever-shifting, unpredictable energies with greater ease. For example, as you awake to begin a new day, offer gratitude for the opportunities the day may bring and envision, positive, uplifting experiences unfolding before you. Noon is a time to acknowledge the life giving properties and gifts of the Sun. At sunset or when going to bed, offer gratitude for the day and set your intention for your sleep or dream time be it solid rest, insight, guidance, healing, service in other dimensions or the working through of an issue. As the Wheel of the Year turns, acknowledging the seasons can bring us more intimately into contact with the different energies being offered by each one. During the sign of Virgo (Sept.23-Oct.22) we are still moving through Summer–South on the Medicine Wheel of the year–a time of accelerated growth and abundance. Summer is a time to re-connect with the element of Fire–the Sun, stars, warmth, heat and light, creativity, joy, and our passion to follow our
heart to manifest our dream for an uplifted, loving harmonious world. On September 22 with the Autumnal Equinox, we move into the Fall and the sign of Libra (Oct.23-Nov.22). Fall is in the West on the Wheel of the Year, the place of harvest, introspection, endings and letting go, a time to re-connect with the element of Water–the oceans, rivers, streams and springs, the rain, the creatures of the waters and the waters of our body–our deepest emotions. The powerful and empowering shifts we are continually moving through are assisting us in making choices that are more in line with who we truly are. As we bring more Light into our being and arise in vibration, there is so much more of a dissonance in areas of our life that are not in alignment with our true self. Spend more time with supportive, like-minded people who will listen to and validate your feelings and experiences and allow you to be who you are, without compromise. As we get closer to 2012, the intensity of the energy shifts are indeed increasing. "2012 is a code that activates our cellular memory to help us remember who we are in the time of the Great Awakening. 2012 expresses the cosmic concept that a shift of cycles of nearly incomprehensible magnitude is underway. The cycle shift offers hope for a quantum evolutionary leap and a big new beginning in the next world age. Beyond the fear and destruction, 2012 is a supreme opportunity to do things differently on planet Earth." (from Allison Rae at StarPriestess.com) With the New Moon in Virgo on September 8 set forth your intention to step more fully into your true essence. During Mercury in Retrograde (Aug.20Sept.12) allow this time of inner connection to assist you in this process. The Full Moon in Libra on September 23 is called the Harvest Moon. Contemplate what you are harvesting as a result of all your inner work. With the New Moon in Libra utilize any insights gained about yourself to refine your focus for moving more fully into your unique, sacred role in this incredible timing. A second Full Moon in Libra occurs on October 22 just before the Sun moves into Scorpio (Oct.23-Nov.21). Maintain your center no matter what is occurring around you. Respond instead of react. Detach instead of engage. And observe what is being reflected to you in your experiences and interactions. Be in love, be in peace and step forward into your power as the Divine God/ Goddess that you truly are! May the following insights and affirmations assist you on your journey! ARIES (March 20-April 19) Stay present to what is occurring in the moment. One day at a time, trust that all is unfolding exactly as it should. Stay positive as you focus on your desires. Let go of the wondering and questioning. As your life unfolds, enjoy the experience of creating your reality, allowing your positive emotions to fuel whatever you envision for yourself and our world. And if you don't like what manifests, change the focus of your thoughts. You are the creator of your reality! No go forth and shine! AFFIRMATION: With each step I take, I attract love, harmony and beauty into my life. My heart is filled with gratitude. I AM blessed. TAURUS (April 20-May 20) Whenever you feel overwhelmed by life, breathe. Use your breath to calm your mind. Spend some time outdoors. Allow nature to ground and also to energize you. Let go of worrying and wondering. Affirm that you are doing just fine as you negotiate each shifting day. When you find your thoughts out of control, breathe and ask yourself what you want or need to do right now and then do it! AFFIRMATION: As I calm and center myself, I add to the energy of peace and serenity on the planet. My thoughts and actions effect others. We are all ONE.

Right now is an opportune time to connect with like-minded people who support you in creating new patterns of self-care and self-nurturing. When we know we are supported, it makes it easier to maintain new routines and practices and validates our decision for making positive, life-affirming changes. Take the necessary steps now to reach out! AFFIRMATION: As I step more fully into creating a nurturing lifestyle for myself, I easily connect with others who love, respect and support me on my path toward wholeness. LEO (July 23-Aug.22) Each day, step into the highest aspect of yourself. Feel your connection to Spirit, the aspect of the Divine within you. See and interact with the Divine within each person you encounter. Let go of seeing the personality, details or drama. Connect on a deeper soul level with those around you. AFFIRMATION: Seeing the Divine within others brings me a deep sense of inner peace and joy. We are ONE. VIRGO (Aug.23-Sept.22) As you begin a new year with your birthday, give yourself some time and space to nurture yourself and rejuvenate. Spending a little time now doing so will assist you in gathering the strength, resources and serenity that will support you over the months to come. This is a time to gather what you need, not a time to push forward in a frenzy. Relax, renew, contemplate, imagine. Utilize this time to set a foundation for your year ahead. Be gentle with yourself as you stay present to the moment. AFFIRMATION: I allow myself the time and space to gather the nurturing, renewal and inner peace I need to negotiate life each day so that I may be of the highest service in all that I do. LIBRA (Sept.23-Oct.22) Continue your deep inner work as you move towards your birthday. Keep your heart open, especially to yourself. This has been a time of contemplation, insight and release of old patterns and beliefs about who you truly are. Focus on loving and forgiving yourself for anything and everything that may be surfacing. Allow the light of self love fill your heart and radiate out to those around you and to our world. See it become brighter and stronger every day. AFFIRMATION: I AM love, I AM full of love, love is all THAT I AM. SCORPIO (Oct.23-Nov.21) Continue moving forward one day at a time focused on your work, your path, your mission. Let go of what no longer seems to work in your life, especially attachments, expectations and judgments. You don't need them any more! They only serve to pull you off center. As you let go of the chaos around you, be true to yourself and attune to the highest aspect of yourself. Move from the stinging scorpion to the high flying eagle who touches the face of God/Goddess. AFFIRMATION: I dedicate myself to my highest path allowing the truth of my soul to be revealed. SAGITTARIUS (Nov.22-Dec.21) Trust your inner knowingness to guide you, that little voice that you sometimes discount or question. Listen to it! It is your higher self communicating with you. Consciously cultivate your ability to listen and trust in what you receive through meditation, prayer, being in nature, when you are quiet. As you strengthen your trust in the intuitive messages and insights you receive, life may flow with less effort and you may feel a sense of inner peace growing stronger each day. AFFIRMATION: When I still my mind and listen, I am guided from the very depths of my being. CAPRICORN (Dec.22-Jan.19) Feel a sense of relief as we approach the fall. Trust that the details in your life are falling into place one day at a time in line with your highest good. Focus on implementing any new or revised ideas,

Break Out of Your Cocoon and Fly! by Dawn Gates, Master Herbalist
We
are all in a permanent state of transmutation and transformation. Some of us stop in a stage for awhile because we are stuck, or want to regroup. Whether you are stuck or just resting it is important to remember that you have the choice to change. My grandmother told me a story that her Native American grandfather told her about humans and the butterfly. “The butterfly is like man,” she told me. “In the beginning you start as a tiny green worm, whose only interest is to eat and eat until your belly is full and then eat more. Some people stay in the worm state forever, always eating until all the plants are gone.” She explained that most people have something major occur that changes the way they view life forever. For Native Americans it was often a near death experience or a powerful vision quest, the birth of a child or the loss of

a loved one. “This,” she said, “causes you to become introspective and go into a cocoon. Some people get stuck in this cocoon, introspective of their life, but never growing to the next stage which is the metamorphosis into a butterfly.” My grandmother told me that a butterfly is “…the soul’s attempt to break out of its limitations and fly to heaven. This was the highest goal, and if all humans made it to this stage there would never be war, there would always be food, and the sun would always shine.” I asked about the Monarch butterfly, who breaks free from its cocoon only to fly back to Mexico to die. She thought for a few minutes and told me that the people who are like the monarch are the rarest of all; they are deeply spiritual and become one with God. I have thought about this story throughout my life. It always reminded me to always strive toward God in all of its forms. In my herbal practice I treat people who are stuck in a spiritual dilemma, spinning around trying to find their way only to get caught up in the next obstacle—they are stuck in the cocoon but cannot get out. They want to, they have just lost their

way and need help. I have a few herbs that can help them find their way. For helping people dream the answers to their questions/spiritual dilemmas, mugwort is a bitter herb that can be drunk as a tea or stuffed in the pillow at night. It can help us find clarity and light, even in the darkest night of the soul. The herb Blue Vervain can help with rough transitions by making you more relaxed and receptive to spiritual changes. Wood betony aids rapid transformations, recommended if a person is growing and transforming so quickly that their head is spinning. It assists in quickly centering and moving into the next stage of spiritual development. Herbs can be wonderful spiritual allies on this journey we call life. Now break out of your cocoon and FLY! Set clear boundaries for yourself to help you maintain your focus on moving forward. AFFIRMATION: As I evolve, my efforts also assist the Earth and all upon her. Every step I take is a healing step, healing my body and healing the land. AQUARIUS(Jan.20-Feb.18) Breathe, breathe, breathe. You are doing just fine negotiating these erratic energies. Don't let your mind drive you crazy! Keep your focus on today. The past is over. Tomorrow will unfold as a result of today's thoughts and actions. Be sure to add opportunities for fun into your day. See the humor in the inconsistencies and mental gaps that are creating chaos in your life. Breathe and surrender to enjoying each moment. AFFIRMATION: Each moment brings opportunities for enjoying my ever-evolving life. I let go and allow myself to flow with the tides of change. PISCES (Feb.19-March 19) Life may be feeling rather intense right now with so many powerful shifts and changes. Allow your emotions to surface and give yourself permission to feel any sadness, loss or hurt that comes up. Feel it and then with a deep breath or two, let it go. It may be helpful to write down your feelings and hurts in detail and then to burn the paper as a symbolic gesture of release. Be very aware around the full moons on Sept. 23 and Oct. 22 to consciously work through any emotions that surface. Remember that we never get more than we can handle, even though sometimes it may seem like it. AFFIRMATION: With each exhalation, I release what no longer serves me. With each inhalation, I breathe in peace and contentment. I AM blessed! Getting Elegantly from A to D
There
seems to be a paradox that runs throughout the universe. On one end, we are part of a whole oneness that’s already created across time and space. Just look around and you’ll notice that the coordination of synchronicities you call your life is perfectly imperfect. Everything that has ever happened to you in your story has served to give you an experience. On the other side of this equation we are powerful creators, able to manifest by turning thoughts into forms.
to your favorite restaurant for a meal, you’re focused on the dream meal and receive it. You feel full and satisfied. Your dream of a full belly and the taste of good food is complete. From the restaurant’s perspective there were a myriad of details before you could eat and enjoy your meal: the purchase of the building, necessary licensing, equipping and stocking food, hiring staff, menu planning, payroll and taxes. Even the food came from a web of growers and distributors, each taking care of the details necessary to make your dream of a meal become reality.
The mechanics of creation go something like this: A silent mind…dreams… t h o u g h t s … i n s p i r a t i o n … d e s i re … motivation…planning…focused action toward goal…taking action... applied focused effort…readjustment… completion…reevaluation... maintenance...dissolution.
Just imagine how difficult it would be to have a meal if every time you wanted to eat you had to worry about all the details! Unfortunately, most of us go about life selling our dreams short by chasing the details of how to get there. Many of us believe that events in our lives are linear: A-B-C-D, the way from A to D is through B and C. But quantum physics shows us that there is a way to our goal D, that bypasses B and C. The way to do this is to hold the feeling of the dream D so strongly that the Universe gives it to you (like the meal in the restaurant) without you having to worry about the myriad
Notice, a silent mind is the foundation for all that is. From a silent mind comes an abundance of dreams; all realities come from dreams. In fact, dreams are more powerful than the details that create the reality. When you’re hungry and go

of details of B and C. Going through life creating like this is amazing once you trust the process. The real challenge is not if this method works or not. It does. The real challenge is to dream at all. Many of us don’t remember how to dream for ourselves, or the quality of our dreams becomes colored by fear and doubt. The dream here becomes a nightmare of what we don’t want. The way out of this mind trap is to increase the quality of our dreams. To start, ask yourself, “Who am I?” Deconstruct who you are and the roles you have associated with. If you weren’t any of those roles, you would still be. Once you can go no further in this process and get to “I AM,” ask, “Who is this I AM?” Then ask, “Who asks this question?” The next questions are: “What do I really, really want?” “How is what I really want in harmony with the whole?” “How can I best serve?” One helpful skill to learn is to silence your mind. A silent mind is pure being, your birthright and who you really are, pure,
silent awareness. Meditation techniques are tools to help you re-remember the feeling of pure being! Focus on the feeling, not the thinking of it. Another skill is the practice of gratitude for absolutely everything, even the not so pretty stuff. This helps us to shift away from a victim mentality and to plant seeds for a flowering of our experiences. Learn to find “the gift” in anything “bad” that happened to you. Did it help you be stronger, more aware, more compassionate, more appreciative? The practice of the feeling of gratitude while holding the feeling of a silent mind raises us to higher and higher states of consciousness and drastically improves the quality of our dreams. The nightmares give us the gift of contrast. From a silent mind you can tap into the mother of all dreams, the universal absolute best dream for you which looks exactly like what you’ve been experiencing unconsciously up until now. Such a rich experience! When you realize that with every grateful breath, your absolute best dream is being delivered
to you then no dreaming is necessary, only gratitude and acceptance of what is in a peaceful state. Here is the paradox!
Dream beautiful dreams as you accept with gratitude your highest destiny. Shifting from regret to acceptance and gratitude will radically shift the quality of our experience! This ability to choose how we see the world allows us to powerfully create and shape the quality of our experience and is truly our ultimate freedom—peace. If you find yourself lost in your story, then here is a universal dream you may be able to hang on to. Feel yourself happy, peaceful, harmonious, still, content— without any external conditions needing to be there or completed for you to feel them. Feel yourself being that still and peaceful, now… let the universe fill in the details. When fear and doubt creep in, remind the
fear and doubt that they are to help you feel the feeling of quiet, peaceful, silence NOW. Continue to feel the sensations in your body as you do so. Let the universe deliver the details to you. P.S. You Are the oyal of Your World!
Sovereign
by Rev. Mary Blocher “Thoughts held in mind produce after their kind” is a phrase we may have heard at some point in our lives. Have you ever stopped to consider what those words really mean? On more than one occasion I have had to stop in my tracks and take a look at the events going on in my life, because all seemed to be in chaos. In those chaotic moments I would take a deep breath, center myself, and remember this truth: thoughts held in mind produce after their kind; which is a more contemporary version of the biblical proverb “As he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). Meditating upon those words in silence, I would begin to understand more deeply that I had a hand in creating the chaos in my life, since I am a co-creator with God. In Unity philosophy, our third principle states that the thoughts we hold in our mind create our outer reality in the physical world. Therefore, we have to look at our thoughts and ask ourselves if we are holding thoughts of optimal health, happiness, and abundance. Or, on the other hand, do our thoughts focus upon worry, fear, and lack. Whatever way we choose to focus our attention, be it positive or negative, those thoughts will manifest to become reality in our life. If we take a look around and don’t like what we see, we can change the outer world of form by first changing the inner form of our thinking. You are the royal king or queen of your world! However, like

all roy a l leaders, you must be willing to take command of your kingdom and be willing to accept full responsibility for the thoughts that have manifested outwardly in your life. Thoughts are the bricks and mortar with which you build your kingdom. When you are building your kingdom, wouldn’t it make sense to build a beautiful kingdom filled with lavish abundance, flowing health, and wonderful, harmonious relationships? That kingdom is possible with focused, positive thoughts held in mind. Rev. Mary Blocher grew up in Huntington, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University with a Master’s Degree in Education. In 2005 she was ordained by the Association of Unity Churches International. Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
Understanding Change in Life by Yogi Amrit Desai
Change
is not just the force of destruction but also the force of creation. Underlying the forces of opposites is the integration that is inherent in change. Change has neither ups nor downs. It is neither good nor bad, neither right nor wrong. All opposites become one through change. If you trust change, you have nothing you need to change. You are at peace with change. When you are at peace with change, you are at peace with what exists at any given moment. When you are at peace with change, you never feel short-changed. If you change with the changes that come, you won’t be afraid of the future. Change is timeless. It has no future and no past.
Attachment to either choice or witness is only a human possibility. Witness consciousness is individual, but change is universal. Through witness consciousness, the individual merges into the universal through total trust in change. For more than 40 years, Yogi Amrit Desai (Gurudev) has been a pioneer in reestablishing the spiritual depth of yoga. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world now teach and practice yoga as a result of Yogi Desai’s teachings. In 1970, he experienced a spontaneous Kundalini awakening by the grace of his guru, Swami Kripalvanandji. The yoga society Yogi Desai founded eventually grew to become Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, one of the largest centers of its kind in America. He has been honored in the U.S. and abroad. Some of his distinguished titles include the rare Vishwa Yoga Ratna, awarded by the President of India. Yogi Desai is the author of six books and 45 CDs on yoga and holistic living. Yogi Amrit Desai can be contacted at info@amrityoga.org. Learn more at: http://www.amrityoga. org. Please see ad this page.
Change lives in freedom from attraction or repulsion. It has no choice or preference. It moves through all opposites and never gets affected. Therefore, change is also central to harmony and balance between two opposites. Change is how the whole phenomenal world is born, grows and evolves. Change is the reality of the material world, while changelessness is the reality of the spiritual world. Change is based on cause and effect. Changeless spirit has neither cause nor effect. It exists beyond all changes. All changes are inherent in the changeless reality. The mediator between changing body and changeless spirit is the ego-mind that is itself subject to change. We resist change when we experience pleasure, but we want change when we experience pain. We are in a love-hate relationship with the opposing experiences of life that constantly change. We develop all sorts of control systems through money, power, skills, manipulation, and mind control to circumvent change. If you have personal attachment or preference for any given experience, which is bound to change, then you are bound to the fear of change.
Change is impersonal; however, resistance to change is personal: I want change at the rate I want it, and in the way I want it, That is personal. Personal desires and impersonal change are in perpetual conflict. Because each of us is embodied spirit, we have the potential to participate in the physical body and live in the changeless state of consciousness through choiceless witness awareness. Dreams are the bridge between the subconscious and conscious minds. Through the language of symbology, dreams communicate to the dreamer any suppressed fears or underlying issues that are impacting their life experiences. Many look at dreams as a series of coincidental images. At surface view, they seem unrelated and without an obvious theme. If you take a step back, however, and look at the dream and its components metaphorically, each symbol with its own unique meaning connects to create a story that is oddly, though not nearly by coincidence, related to something that is unfolding in your waking life. Images that do not seem ordinary, consciously believable or normal tend to point to misperceptions, disconnections and disruption in the status quo or established order of things as well as situations one finds comfortable due to a deep level of familiarity. While there are different types of dreams, such as flying or precognitive dreams, Teaching Dreams are the type of dreams that actually communicate to us in three parts: beginning, middle and end. Teaching dreams generally follow this structural formula: 1) the current issue is presented to the dreamer in the beginning through the use of universal symbols, 2) the middle sequence illustrates how you are reacting or contributing to the scenario and, 3) the third sequence generally holds the more predictive symbols, differentiating at times between illustrated courses of action. Symbols that reflect the current state of mind largely occur toward the middle sequences of a dream, blending into the third sequence or layer. The ending (if remembered) presents the solution, which is the probable outcome of the situation should the message of the dream be recognized and integrated. Often the probable outcome if the situation is not corrected, depending on the dreamer. Not addressing a fear or issue will only cause it to perpetuate, resulting in recurring dreams or themes. Most people do not understand the strange images and scenarios presented in their dreams because they do not know how to interpret the meaning of the universal and personal symbols. Whatever the situation, know that your dreams are based on your perception of what is going on. Our fears amplify our personal projections of what might occur if we take action. In contrast, we often pull back, doing nothing and then berate ourselves for an assumed lack of courage. This is not reality. Approach the situation with love and communicate honestly without excess emotion. Know when to let go rather than manipulate your behavior or the situation. Love unconditionally, but maintain healthy boundaries. Help where you can or have the authority, but remember that we are all here to learn and grow and we cannot save others by removing their burdens through control or any other means. All we can truly do is rely on the truth and let our family members know that no matter the severity of the storm, in the circle of our love, they are indeed safe. Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
Transmutation of Energy: the power within to change the conditions in our lives.
by Reverend E. Ann Otzelberger One of my favorite things to say is, “Thoughts are things.” I teach this to all students and make a point to remember it in my own life. The power that we have within to change the conditions in our lives is closely aligned to the Natural Law of Attraction. The Universal Laws tell us we need to: 1. Know what we want and be positive. 2. Keep a spiritual attitude as our guideline. 3. Set the Law of Desire into motion with our consciousness. 4. Never doubt or waiver in our attitude. Matter never dies, it only changes form. Matter becomes energy and energy becomes matter according to its rate of vibration. “Ask and ye shall receive,” is a statement we have heard many times. It tells us to make a decision about what we need or want and it will be ours. Of course, there are some who think they have the desire, which gives them the right to sit and wait for what they want to happen. Hopefully, they will wake up and understand that when we desire something it will come about for us, but we need to apply the necessary effort to help the circumstances come about. We cannot desire or think that we want to be a physician and then sit down and wait for our degree. Limitation is placed all around us, and it is placed by us. We decide that we would like to have something but we know that it is not within our reach. We use many arguments to explain why we are not able to have what we want (our parents never made much money, the education is too far above us, etc.). We tell ourselves we are not really worthy of the position. We place these limits on ourselves, which gives us the excuse not to apply ourselves to reach our goals. If you are not receiving the things you desire, check and see if you are putting the Law of Repulsion to work with your doubts, fears, impatience and worry. See if you are placing limitations on yourself to prevent you from reaching your goals. We are always receiving and must remember the Law of Attraction. Natural law never stops to ask if we are sure of what we want. Our thoughts send out into the Universal Ether what we want. If we find our thoughts are bringing about heartaches, sickness and disharmony in our lives, we need to look at what we are thinking and keep our thoughts positive. Thoughts are things. To really use the laws to our advantage we must maintain a calm, trustful attitude. Our thoughts must remain positive and loving in all matters. This creates a positive auric emanation. Through this avenue, helpful influences from the world around us and the spirit world will be attracted to us. Living with, understanding, and being mindful of the Law of Transmutation of Energy will help us unfold the love, harmony, health, kindness, unselfishness and joy of life. Reverend E. Ann Otzelberger is the Founding Pastor of New Vision Spiritualist Center. She is an NSAC Ordained Minister, a Commissioned Spiritualist Healer, a Certified Medium and National Spiritualist Teacher. Reverend Otzelberger is a Trustee on the Board of Directors of the NSAC. Reverend Ann also serves the Morris Pratt Institute as Vice President of their Board of Directors and is on their Education Committee.

We were fighting ourselves and wrestling with thoughts, knowing somewhere in life people do care for us. When I reached up into my soul after I had some sobriety, there appeared to be so much room and, for once, I realized how easy it is to lose myself. Only then did I start to find the treasures we receive in giving service to another human being. For myself, the more I gained an interest toward others the more I started to feel an awareness of others’ pains, fears and hopes. Did angels stand in

front of me? It certainly seemed so, for the light guides us. First we must realize it’s there. Once again, we have to open up our own paths toward change. All I know, my friends, is that some of my greatest moments were spent in profound joy, only after putting someone else’s needs first. If I continued not to care about others, I think sobriety would have had no significance. The whole package needs to open in order to see what’s inside. So, I listened well and watched for subtle signs at the beginning to desperately get out of my own way. Nothing is ever lost if we only try. All my growth is the result of my endeavors. Now in tune with my higher consciousness, it enabled me to give back, knowing then we will be in the right order with God and humanity. My friends remember how, in the beginning, I had to remain selfish and guard my sobriety. This promise I think, the one in which we will intuitively handle situations, comes only after we are painstaking about our recovery. I left the wreckage behind, and understanding how to live one day at a time is crucial... Charles’ dying took all my strength and sanity; it gave me some of my finest hours being able to care for him, along with some of my saddest moments. How God works ... My holding a dying person’s hand and being there for him was the miracle I managed to do. I believe one journey is over and a new one begins. This unconditional love had been the direct result of self-seeking that slipped away. Now I am free. hen a seriously ill client first came to me for reflexology, her first question was, “Do you think reflexology can heal me?” I answered her loaded question, “Reflexology cannot heal anyone. All therapies can assist our bodies’ own innate healing ability. You don’t have to think about healing your cut finger. Your body knows what to do. Other things we do for health besides stress relief therapies include exercise, adequate sleep, healthy foods, sunlight, fresh air, prayer, meditation, a life purpose, and clean, high alkaline water.” She asked me, “What’s so important about alkaline water? All water is the same, isn’t it?” Ah, another loaded question! You wouldn’t say all air or all dirt is the same, would you? Neither is water. Water is dynamic and complex.
The quality of our body’s water is important, too, not just the quantity. The average 155-pound person’s body contains about 12 gallons of water. A body filled with 12 gallons of polluted “sludgy” water is going to be much more acidic than a body filled with 12 gallons of high alkaline water. When the body is chronically acidic, illnesses can develop. Systems start breaking down. When a fish tank becomes polluted and acidic, you change the water or the fish die. In the same way, high alkaline water raises the body’s pH and trades existing acidic body water with new fluid to produce healthier tissues, bones, tendons and blood. Over time, the changing levels of healthier water in the body will “turn the tide” and bring that body’s waters back to its original intended state—vibrant, abundant health. Water is not just water, is it? I drank highly acidic reverse osmosis water for 10 years before entering menopause. Six long years of suffering hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, weight gain, and changeable moods ensured my willingness to try anything! I never thought something as simple as drinking high alkaline water could so dramatically impact my life. Within three weeks all menopause symptoms had vanished (to my relief and that of my poor, patient family members). Since change is inevitable, let’s make sure it’s in the right direction. Change your health by simply changing your water! See Vivienne’s website for more information on water: www. YourWaterWisdom.com. Certified in the Original Ingham Method® of Reflexology through the International Institute of Reflexology since 2001, Vivienne Bailey discovered reflexology and practiced this ancient, healing art to assist her 11 month old daughter’s recovery from open-heart surgery. Today the happy and healthy teenager is completely medication-free! As the only certified reflexologist in Central Florida, Vivienne shares foot and hand reflexology in combination with Reiki, aromatherapy and Tibetan sound bowls to create a truly unique approach to “foot work.” Visit Vivienne’s sites: www.YourWaterWisdom.com, www.ReflexologyByViv.com, email: footlady50@yahoo.com or call (407)677-1448. The ancient Greek Heraclitus said, “You cannot step twice into the same river,” referring to the universe’s constant state of flux. Just as the universal law tells us that energy is always moving and changing form, so is our state of health and that of our body’s water. Our body is 90% water at birth, but as we age, it averages about 75%. Upon death, the body’s water measures 45%. Our brain is 90% water, our blood 82%, and our muscles 75%. The body requires adequate water to carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells, and to help with nutrient absorption and conversion of food to energy while also regulating body temperature. Water protects and cushions vital body organs and joints. Water removes metabolic waste from the cells through the lymphatic system. Without water, we cease to exist. Following the Signs by Ken Germann
On
a spring Sunday about two years ago, I lived in St. Petersburg, Florida and my friends were all busy doing something with their wives or husbands. I was sitting on the couch contemplating how I could stay out of trouble when the message as clear as day started a repeating cycle in my head, “Avalon, Kim, Starchild.” I started to put the puzzle together, immediately pegging the first two words: Avalon is a metaphysical supply store in Orlando. Kim is a psychic reader who used to work there. I got in the car and drove about 90 minutes to Orlando.
toward the front counter, my attention was focused on a man and a woman having a discussion with the clerk. It didn’t take long to have my attention diverted to the energy ball in the back corner of the room. I felt like I was hit by a lightning bolt.
I am a medium. I was sitting on my couch when I got a message saying, ‘Avalon, Kim, Starchild.’” I continued, “Ma’am, your daughter is a starchild. A couple of Google searches on Indigo and Crystal children will help you better understand your daughter. ”
Standing in the corner was a girl about 13 or 14 years old with red hair, blue eyes, and dressed Kindergoth. Her parents were arguing with the clerk. I was thinking to myself, I drove 90 minutes to arrive just at this moment where I am supposed to help her parents understand who she is.
The daughter smiled at me. I could move again. The mother said, “Thank you,” to me. I left the store and drove home.
When I arrived at Avalon, an 8.5 x 11 ring binder open on the counter said, “Your reader today is Kim.” I hadn’t seen her in a few years. She was available. I had to sign a release form stating I was age 18 or older. I walked to the room where the readings are held, joked with Kim a little. The reading took about 30 minutes. When Kim and I walked out of the reading room down the small hallway
I started toward the door. I didn’t want to be rude and interrupt the discussion at the counter. I reached the midpoint between the parents and the girl. I was frozen mid-step. I couldn’t move. I got the woman’s attention. “Ma’am, I just drove 90 minutes from St. Petersburg. I have been trying to figure out what a message means. It’s clear to me now that the message is for you and your husband.

Being a medium is a blessing. I never got the girl’s or her parents’ names that day. It wasn’t necessary for me to know them. My hope is the healing I bring through my writing and life path will bring hope and understanding to those who seek it. Ken Germann, healer, lightworker, medium, is founder/director of Ascension Today (http:// AscensionToday.com. He is a fully certified Reiki Shihan (teacher) and teaches Japanese Komyo Reiki. His own self-discovery has led him to understand the importance of being willing to take the journey with an open mind and open heart, and to be able to share in the laughter and love of life. The Path to True Change Is An Inside Job by Debbie Paulk Our thoughts, spoken words and what we visualize in every moment are all energy. The energy in what we chose to think, say and visualize, whether negative or positive, creates vibration.
The goal is to be filled with more positive energy, such as feelings of love, joy and gratitude, while releasing as much negative draining energy as possible. This will cause your vibration to rise and you will experience true change.
Positive thoughts, words and images in our mind matching the feeling of love raise our vibration. Negative thoughts, words and images matching the feeling of fear lower our vibration.
Another energy drainer is our unwillingness to forgive a person, circumstance or ourselves. When we chose to forgive it’s really a gift we give to ourselves. We release all the fear-based emotions linked to the experience or person and feel more peaceful, which makes us feel good. Choosing to forgive does not mean we condone the behavior, hurt or circumstance we encountered. When we forgive, we take our power back and allow a channel for more positive energy to flow to, and through, us.
All emotions are basically rooted in either love or fear. Some emotions linked with love include joy, gratitude, enthusiasm, passion, excitement. These fill us with positive energy and we feel great. Some fear-based emotions include anxiety, anger, worry, resentment, jealousy and hatred. These drain us of our energy and we feel badly. At times we may feel that we have done a lot of internal work in changing ourselves for the positive yet still don’t see or feel any true result of change. A further examination may be needed to reveal what’s draining our energy. Some common energy drainers we may not be aware of are when we ignore our fears and doubts. This causes them to linger in our subconscious mind and exert a lot of energy. We can spend a lot of time keeping them at bay. Our inner voice is always talking to us about our fears, worries and doubts. But once we deal with them and resolve our fears we allow ourselves to be filled with more positive energy, which raises our vibration.
Last but not least, make a list of unfinished business or unresolved issues. This can include unfinished projects, conversations, cleaning out closets or garages, etc. Once we commit to resolving our issues and unfinished business we free our subconscious mind from thinking about them. We all have the power to experience change within ourselves. No one can do it for us. The path to true change lies within our subconscious mind. True change truly is an inside job.

As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. --Proverbs
by Oral Nussbaum
The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy states that everything we can see, hear, smell, taste or touch, together with our emotions, is the manifestation of energy in various levels of vibration. Energy is in a constant state of transmission and transmutation. What does that mean really? Water in a glass evaporates, changing from the physical state we can see, touch and taste to an invisible form. At all stages of this transmutation, the energy is the same, only changing form by the change in vibration. When it evaporates we can no longer see it, but if the glass refills with rain, you see it returned to physical form. You are no different than the water in the glass. You are energy. Energy leaves your body and even though you can’t see it with your eyes, it can be measured and even photographed. That includes your thoughts. Your thoughts are the same energy as you are, just a different vibration, like the evaporated water. Your thoughts, whether they are positive or negative, return to you as the physical manifestation of you, just as the water is returned to the glass, a perfect mirror image of what you have put out. Knowing that you are exactly the vibration of what you have been putting out into the universe gives you the power to re-create your life by changing that vibration. Do you want your life to be different? Change your thoughts and perceptions. This will alter your vibration, thus changing your physical reality. You may see at this point how similar the language of this law is to the Law of Attraction, something I would encourage you to learn more about. Understanding deeply how this works has transformed my life from despair to a level of peace and happiness I thought for years was unattainable. I realized I was an active participant and not a victim. Changing my thoughts and my perception and acceptance of reality takes constant practice, but the result is amazing!
Creating What was I thinking? That’s easy to see. I just look at the things that are happening to me. Where was my head? That’s not hard to find. We create in our lives, what we hold in our mind. Why is this happening? Just take a look. The pen’s in your hand, you write your own book.

Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
Are You Now Here or Nowhere? by Diane J. Ackerman
Why is it, no matter where I go, I always end up here! A frequently asked question posed by inquiring minds often overlooking the obvious. It is human nature to stay with the familiar even if it has a propensity for danger. All too often people enter into the same destructive relationships, business transactions, political positions or religious beliefs as their culture, families or social statures deem acceptable. They allow others to dictate their futures. Frequently, the opinions and presumptions of others become a guideline for behaviors and attitudes. Often people give up or fail to take ownership of their personal power for fear of reprisals or rejections. They lose their true identity and label themselves as being weak, shy or emotionally handicapped. As a result they often adopt the judgments and opinions of others and have little or no selfesteem. They go on to punish themselves with guilt and negative emotions, sabotaging relationships and business successes. These perceptions and judgments become part of their DNA and are etched into the subconscious mind. However, once taught to re-evaluate and change the
paradigms, a shift occurs. Negative judgments, opinions and thoughts from past events are no longer anchors holding one steadfast to negative choices. Focused and less distracted, the ability to make better choices is based on fact rather than perceptions. Popular opinions are no longer the rule of thumb in decision making. When we acknowledge and recognize the power held in a single thought, we are able to clear the way for new ideas and understandings, and lives change. We recognize the bondage a single thought contains and its ability to imprison us to our past. So how do we make the shift? I would suggest by opening our minds to new ideas and examining new perceptions. “Minds are like parachutes—they only function when open,” said Thomas Dewar. With a better understanding of who we are, we become responsible for our own happiness. We release the desire to control or dominate others. The door to growth opens and we can move forward. Rather than depending on the old patterns, we explore new avenues and educate ourselves. We all make mistakes. The question is, do we learn from them? Or do we continue to make the same choices, then blame others for the junk in our lives?
“Minds are like parachutes— they only function when open,” said Thomas Dewar.
Perhaps it’s time to do a personal assessment of how our lives have been working for us. Are we fueled by old theories that use blame, shame, and guilt to stunt our personal growth? Or are we accelerated by new ideas and philosophies that open our world to new adventures? I invite you to look into the eyes of a stranger, accept his differences and see them as part of you. If your personal power or self-esteem is intact you will not be making decisions or judgments on how you think others will accept you. It won’t matter! Her workbook on anger management, “Shut the Duck Up,” is being used with great success at Anthony House, a homeless shelter in Zellwood, Florida. Please see ad this page.

Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
The End In Mind
by Ramah Wagner, DC Contributing Health Editor
Fumbling and climbing through the thick, green brush jungles of Ecuador seeking out an Incan healer, or shaman, I was wondering once again, How did I get myself into this? It was then that I turned my camera-strapped neck to see my wonderful, six foot tall, soon to be fiancé moving along at a more relaxed pace. We were on a journey to attempt to purge our souls of our past, and this act of faith was our best plan.
his response was, “This is me! It may as well have my name written all over it. It should just say FABIAN!”
We skipped up after our guide, who took us on the river Napo in a thin, long boat like a paper boat we’d made as children. I tried very hard to remain balanced as I did not want to tip over into the mud-thick, anaconda infested river water. Nor could I discern what (or how many of them) were making the strange noises in the jungle.
I smiled to myself, thinking. It was the same “something” that took us to the jungles of Ecuador to heal our souls.
I remember how odd and what a miracle to have manifested him. Oh yes, it took a lifetime, but really only two weeks since I was definitive and had created that dream board. The dream board he found in my laundry room. He’d said, “Something told me I needed to go in there!”
Instead, I focused on the valor of my love and what keeping the “End in Mind” really means. It was important to me to achieve a “soul clearing” and to embark in our new life with purity.
“End in Mind” really means. It was important to me to achieve a “soul clearing” and to embark in our new life with purity.
I flashed on what it really took to create this: creativity, willingness, drive, courage, and persistence to work through all the modern day dilemmas we had. Me not compromising, him coming out of a previously failed marriage. Me not understanding his teenage girls not thinking I was cool. Him not knowing how to deal with my strength, etc., etc. How did I end up here?

I started a review as we returned to our beloved Casa del Suizo for dinner in our jungle paradise. A tarantula bigger than my hand limbered toward us as we ate varieties of corn, potatoes and beans while I constructed my best ideas of how this had manifested. I thought back to my dream board at home. It had photos that had all the glamour of my future manifestations. But what it really contained was the “content energy” feelings of the things and “The End in Mind.” It was detailed and had writings of exact words and descriptions of the man sitting next to me. It also contained statements like “I Am Love” or “I Am Health.” Not just affirmations with hopeful blurting, but specific “I Am” statements that use the power of the name of the Jehovah God to create a vacuum current of creation. Adding strong emotions to the statements cemented them into my subconscious mind. Each day on my way out of my house I would really hold the images until, almost like magic, this man was standing behind me, reading it, and

“If you don’t slow down, your body will find a way to make you slow down.” I am recovering from major surgery. Thanks, Body! Here’s what I’ve learned during my recovery: • Happiness is an inside job. Of course, we all know this in our heads, but I really got the experience, again! After surgery, the hospital staff made sure I was full of pain and anti-nausea medication before my friend, Greg, put me in the car for a two-hour drive back to Orlando, where I spent a total of 12 days with him in peace, love, harmony, rest, healing, joy. I have never had as long an experience of being completely happy and in harmony with another person. He took care of my needs and wants, and I did my best to contribute as I was able. He even rubbed my back and adjusted my covers in his sleep. Such devotion! I am grateful to be so loved.
Happiness Is An Inside Job
Then he brought me back to Largo and my current living situation with a house-mate who boasts a maximum of one happy experience per month. It was like walking into a black hole of misery. I admit that I did let it affect me at first, then I began making choices with regard to my own happiness and mindset. I experienced that choosing joyful thoughts brought the reward of experiencing joy.
• Positive thought brings joy.
Coach for Life, where I received my certification, regularly states, “We get more of what we focus on.” No matter what is going on, my boss focuses negatives, and working with her is a negative experience. But I have experienced the opposite of that. For example, there is a tapestry on my bedroom wall with the word LOVE on it. As I lay in bed, avoiding motion that would aggravate my incisions, I focused on the tapestry. As I fondly remembered the day I bought it, I began to smile. As I remembered the beauty and serenity of seeing it hanging in my previous home, it brought me joy. I had the experience of allowing my mindset to change from one of pain to one of joy

by Joanna Hackley-Davis in a few short moments by simply choosing positive thought.
• What we focus on grows stronger.
Every day, and moment by moment, we get to choose our experience. If we choose to focus on experiences of pain, misery, despair, anxiety, anger, etc., we experience more of them. Conversely, if we choose to focus on love, joy, wisdom, beauty, wonder, awe, happiness, peace, serenity, and harmony, we get more of that. I invite you to experience this for yourself. First, write down your current level of contentment, perhaps using a scale of one to ten. Then, read and experience the following: Remember a time when you went for a walk in a beautiful setting. Picture what was around you. Notice the colors, sounds, and smells. Feel the air on your skin, the sun on your face, the ground beneath your feet. Allow yourself to re-experience what your heart and soul experienced in that moment. Bring the experience back to you right now. Savor it, linger with it, bask in it, wrap it around you like a special blanket. Notice your level of contentment now. The only thing that changed was your focus.
• My belief determines my experience.
A few years ago I had some catastrophic occurrences in my life. Shortly after, I began having unusual health problems, lost my
Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
business, fell deeply in debt and despair. I avoided anything to do with the business. Tax returns, even those with refunds due, went unfiled. My experience was one of grief, loss and lack. From my current perspective, I see the boxes of receipts as opportunities to close a chapter. You see, those boxes of receipts were once relics of failure. Now they are just receipts and an opportunity to end a time of uncertainty. They are still the same receipts. It is my belief that has changed, therefore my experience of them changed as well.
• We are what we think.
Remember the adage, “You are what you eat?" My experience is that as I feed myself wisdom, truth, love, understanding, compassion, harmony, peacefulness, joy, awe, and other wondrous things, I become those things. They soak in mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and edge out other things that do not add to my joy. Here are some ways I do this: Meditate…Read good books…Focus on beauty…Choose to speak of positive things with positive people…Exercise…Pray…Sing…Laugh…Dance… Play…Love…Savor…Be in the moment.
• It’s the experience that matters.
Theory and philosophy are wonderful, but until we put them into practice and really experience something, it’s just theory and philosophy. I believe that’s why we come here, to put all those ideas that seem so easy, in spirit form, to the test. Nobody ever said being in a body was easy, but it sure is worth it! Without our bodies, there is no true experience, so I invite you to experience all the JOY you can while you’re here! The Power of Change
by Stephanie Irzyk, DOM
A
forty-year-old woman rushes frantically into my office fifteen minutes late for her acupuncture appointment. She had to drop her kids off, miscalculated the drive, got stuck in traffic, and forgot all of her paperwork at home. I finally sit down with her for her consultation and she starts babbling on and on about her job and how frustrated she is that somebody else is taking the credit for all the work she is doing, and blah, blah, blah… I think to myself, “Okay, great. What does all this have to do with you coming to see me for your sore throat and neck/shoulder pain?” Then it dawned on me. The sore throat was simply a physical manifestation of the emotional frustration she had from not allowing herself to voice her concerns to her boss at work. She stifled her voice to keep the peace within the office while someone else was getting the credit for her work.
us know, and physical symptoms will start to present themselves.
Prior to seeking acupuncture, she saw her family doctor and an ear, nose and throat specialist, all of which told her there was nothing wrong with her throat. However, there was undeniable pain. I told the woman that her sore throat was her body’s way of telling her to stop holding in her frustration, and the neck and shoulder pain were due to the tremendous amount of stress it was causing her. The subsequent treatment, she barged into my office with a big smile on her face. “My throat pain, neck pain and shoulder pain are completely gone!! Oh, and by the way, I put in my resignation at work.” She went on to tell me she finally realized how much this job was affecting her physical health, and once she put in her resignation, the pain disappeared.
Why do some patients remain sick while others obtain full recovery? The willingness to make changes and maintain a positive attitude is a common theme. There have been miraculous cases of cancer and other life-threatening diseases disappearing in patients who overcome an underlying emotional cause. Change may be a scary thing for many people, but maintaining the status quo may be detrimental to our health. Take the time to examine what positive changes you can make in your life, and see how it will change your physical health!
Our emotions play a huge role in creating disease. For instance, cancer is the ultimate form of stagnation in the body, often due to an unresolved emotion that hides in a particular area of the body, creating cell proliferation. Cell proliferation is the physical result of prolonged, unresolved and repressed feelings that are buried deep within the body, having nowhere to escape.
Our bodies have a way of telling us something is wrong by creating a symptom, a warning sign that something needs to change. Good health involves not only the state of the physical body but our mental health as well. In our culture, many of us ignore or repress our emotions, either because we are afraid to make changes or we simply don’t know how to deal with them. Regardless, our body will let

the word on books>>>>> Health and wellness, while a different journey for each of us, is enabled by the help of our doctor, yet in all the hype over healthcare, rarely does anyone mention prevention and how this is essential to a long life. Instead, the authors of Stay Young: 10 Proven Steps to Ultimate Health often saw people who were trying to accomplish more than is humanly possible between their families and jobs and squeezing in attempts to stay healthy. They realized that between society putting pressure on us to stay beautiful and our putting pressure on ourselves by ‘trying to be everything to everyone,’ the result was two conflicting messages tugging at the body, spirit and mind. In a straightforward and easy style, authors Dr. Mark Anderson, Dr. Walter Gaman and Judith K. Gaman provide clear and muchneeded advice on how to get healthy, understanding that many of us feel overwhelmed because we just don’t know where to begin. While their book clearly outlines the necessary first steps, they also provide long-term tools to help us fight disease and the effects of aging. Shri Mahant Swami Ganeshanand Saraswati Giri (ca. 1895-1987) was known to all who loved and studied with him simply as Ganesh Baba. At the age of four, he was brought back from death through an initiation by Lahiri Mahasaya and through this initiation descends from the same Kriya Yoga lineage as Paramahansa Yogananda. Drawn to the life of the Naga Babas, he became the head of the Ananda Akhara, Naga followers of Lord Shiva who consider cannabis and other entheogens to be the gift of the gods. The Crazy Wisdom of Ganesh Baba contains the core of Ganesh Baba’s Kriya Yoga teachings, from the beginning stages of conscious control of one’s posture, breath, and attention to finally extending one’s awareness to the farthest reaches of the cosmos. Author Eve Baumohl Neuhaus shows that the life of this scholar and crazy saint was as instructive as his teachings. She includes many personal reminiscences of this inspirational and challenging teacher from her own life and those of fellow students, which demonstrate that Ganesh Baba’s extraordinary life was in keeping with his own role as the embodiment of Lord Ganesh, the remover of obstacles. Eye of the Whale is a captivating ecological thriller about Elizabeth McKay, a marine biologist who risks everything to rescue a trapped whale and discover the meaning of its mysterious song. As powerful forces seek to stop her, she discovers the true impact of toxins and the danger they pose to ourselves, our children, and
SUGGESTED READING the planet as a whole. As her research and its implications for human survival capture the media’s interest and the world’s imagination, Elizabeth is forced to decide if her discoveries are worth risking her marriage, her career, and possibly her life.
Of the book Author Douglas Carlton Abrams says, “In the end this is a very hopeful book, because what we discover is that so much disease and suffering is actually human made. In other words it is not inevitable. We can turn around many of these problems. But to do so, we need to see how our health is linked to that of the water and the oceans and all other life. If we face these threats, we can be the most heroic generation to have ever lived.” The Book of Spells, Vintage Edition, is written for readers who believe in magic—but also for those who just want to have fun with magic lore. Forty-two enticing, exotic, and sometimes slightly erotic magic spells promise to help readers prosper at work, at play, or in love. This "recipe-style" book presents spells from many different times and cultures. They include ancient Egyptian, Babylonian, Persian, Mayan, North American Indian, and Druidic charms, potions, dances, and incantations for looking and feeling one's best, for catching and keeping a mate, for enhancing fertility, for repelling unwanted suitors, for gaining a measure of fame and fortune, for protecting against bad luck, and much more. Six sealed pages contain spells reputed to have extraordinary magic powers. Features more than 300 full-color illustrations. The ancient Indian word, chakra, comes from the Sanskrit word for "wheel of light," and describes energy centers believed to exist in every man and woman. The Complete Guide to Chakras explores the nature of those energy sources, and instructs on how to use them. Traditional Chakra teachings describe seven bodies that make up every person's aura, and claim that each of these bodies vibrates in ways allied to the colors of the universe. However, only one of these bodies—the Physical—is visible. When we understand these bodies, we become able to correct our Chakra imbalances and harness our powers for peaceful and productive living. The author tells how to restore balances, heal through the power of thought, and employ colors, sounds, crystals, acupuncture, and other restorative means. More than 300 color illustrations.

Tribal
transformation
by Jenenne Valentino Bottaro Shamanic Law #4 states, “All energy in motion follows the Law of Harmonics: it will achieve maximum efficiency with minimum effort, and returns ultimately to its source.” (Meadows, 2003) One way to achieve this is through dance. Dance has always been a fundamental part of our history dating back to the earliest cave paintings. Our ancestors in those paintings expressed their fundamental truths, aspirations, tensions and struggles through dance. With their feet grounded and their intention firm, the shamans connected to elemental energy and drew up the power within them to become the change they wanted to see. Through the ancient movements that we know today as tribal belly dance, we can also become the change that we want to see in our lives. Tribal belly dance opens the veils of time and allows us to gaze into ancient energy. The organic movement born out of this ancient energy is the source, the power within, and through this organic movement tribal belly dance can transform us at our very core. When we dance, we connect to ancient energies thousands of years old. We connect to its internal power. We connect to the shaman within us. We can become the dancer of new beginnings, of joy, of fear, of frustration, of life, of promise, of inspiration. (Matthews and Kinghan, 2010) As tribal belly dancers we are shamans, and following the Shamanic Law of Harmonics we plant our feet into mother earth. With the organic movements we draw up her energy to our core to achieve maximum efficiency with minimum effort, and our fundamental truths, aspirations, tensions and struggles will return to their source. Through the movement, we become the dance of transformation.

Secrets For Living A Magnificent Life
by Denise Sherman These days, with the movement toward finding our "inners," you know, inner peace, inner voice, inner child, inner goddess and such, isn't it interesting how often we hear of folks taking grand excursions to faraway places to locate those inner things? Just last week I heard a celebrity say in an interview that she recently traveled to India to find her inner self. Hmmm. Well, I do have to admit that I was a bit envious of this woman and would like to have tagged along with her, but do I really need venture outside my front door to find my inner anything? Besides, a quick glance into my pocketbook tells me that a journey such as that is not in the cards for me anytime soon. Oh, I could take out a loan, but I worry what if I spend all that money, fly all that way, only to discover that, oops, I'm not there? Where would I be then? Likely beside myself with concern. Frantically phoning home, Honey, I seem to be lost. No, I don't need GPS, but do you see me anywhere? Now both you and I know that I would be right there with my, um, self the whole time, at the very least, somewhere among my luggage. God forbid the airline loses that! And, don't get me wrong, I can appreciate one's need to step away, sometimes far away from one's life in order to get a good look, so of course I wouldn't really begrudge anyone that journey. Most of us that are desperately in need of respite are in a place in our lives where
it is just not practical, affordable or even healthy to venture off. So how about something a little closer to home? Closer than that, actually. An inner journey. Well, of course! No bags to pack, no passport, immunizations or airfare. If it's true that no matter where you go, there you are, isn't it also true that you can take a trip without leaving the farm? Makes your head hurt doesn't it? But really, if James Taylor can go to Carolina in his mind, I'm quite certain I can go to Katmandu in mine. And so can you. This gets easier with practice, but to start, simply close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to mindfully occupy the space that you're in. From there, imagine that you are traveling as though on a magic carpet to a favorite faraway place, to the water's edge, a lush garden, a majestic mountaintop, or the moon! Once you get where you are going, visualize yourself happily occupying that space. It is there that you will find sanctuary, a place of peace within where you can go anytime you choose. You just have to choose it. Choose a place where you can find serenity among chaos, silence in the din. And, it is there that you will find all of those inner things, too. No matter where you are. Now...off you go! All Things Are Possible A Self-Healing Example
Each of us has the power to heal our body, mind and spirit. This is a personal story about meditation and focus, maintaining a high vibration level, educating oneself on self-healing, and strengthening a strong belief that self-healing is possible. One year ago, an MRI confirmed my suspicions that the extreme pain in my right shoulder and arm was due to a torn rotator cuff. Several months of physical therapy and an injection in the shoulder didn’t help. My surgeon told me I had two choices – to live with the pain and the physical limitations, or undergo surgery. I resisted the idea of surgery, yet I didn’t want to continue living with pain, either. The pain had gotten so severe that I could no longer swing my arms when walking (and I love power walking), swim, lift weights or participate in any exercise programs. I was not a happy camper. I knew I had to take action. I began researching self-healing. I enrolled in a self-healing class, attended several informative sessions at the Tree of Life Personal Enrichment Center in Lady Lake. If knowledge was power, then I was getting pretty powerful. I listened to a one-hour healing guided meditation CD every night. With my body relaxed and my mind quiet, I pictured a healing light running directly from source energy to my body. I pictured healing energy entering every cell – reconstructing, rebuilding, revitalizing. In my mind’s eye I stepped into a mystical pool of water, felt the cool liquid surround my body with its healing energy. I maintained my focus on healing throughout the day. Whenever I moved my shoulder and winced from pain, I reminded myself that I was in the process of healing and again pictured healing energy flowing throughout my body. After three months, something quite remarkable happened during my nightly meditation. A thought, so strong and powerful, like someone shouting in my ear said, “Begin moving your shoulder – move your shoulder.” The next morning I went to the pool to sunbathe and wondered how my shoulder and arm would react if I moved it slowly back and forth in the water. Standing in the water, I began making swimming motions with my arms. Hmm, it didn’t hurt – my shoulder felt tight but not overly

painful. Next, I decided to swim one length of the pool – I could – with no major pain. Months have passed and I regularly swim 20 laps in a sports pool. I participate in a Yoga class, water aerobics and Zumba water class and I walk three miles several times a week, swinging my arms. My shoulder has its normal mobility and there’s no pain. A miracle? No, just a belief, and knowing that healing is possible – that our bodies, minds and spirits are quite amazing. And if we give them permission to do what they are capable of – wonderful things will happen. Pat recently retired as a feature writer for a central Florida newspaper. Prior to moving to Florida, she worked for a large computer firm specializing in corporate education and employee development programs. She is a very spiritually grounded woman and treasures the many friendships she has with her like-minded sisters. Please see ad this page.
