Before you start Firstly, we congratulate you in your decision to consider staring martial arts personal training. Done correctly it is without doubt the fastest way to see results, and can really give you many amazing benefits and reward you in ways you could not have even dreamed of. We shall be discussing this in more detail later, however at this stage it is important to inform you of some things you should consider before joining choosing which school or coach to best develops you. We would therefore strongly advise you to consider the following points when choosing the right instructor and school for your personal training.

 Ensure the instructors are fully qualified, reputable, and vetted. This may seem such an obvious point that but is often neglected. Though he/she may not have it at hand to show, all instructors should be CRB checked, and carry a full pediatric first aid certificate that is valid. They should also be able to show some proof of their instructor’s qualification if needed, such as a certificate etc. If you are in any doubt about the instructor’s certification on any of the above points then you should feel able to ask the instructor to see his/her certificates. They may not have them at hand, but should be able to produce for the next session.

 Choose an established and recognized school It is important to choose a school that is well established and successful. Are they a recognized school? There are occasions where the school may not be recognized by any national group or governing body, this does not necessarily make it a bad school, but you should certainly enquire further as to why they are not recognized. This is important, because it means that the instructor you choose to be your trainer is well qualified and very experienced in teaching, and can back this up with results from the many students he/she has taught in the past. If you wish to achieve martial arts grades and ranks through your personal training, it is also important that your instructor is part of a recognized and reputable governing body.

 Pick a popular martial art that meets your needs No matter what your personal needs may be, the beauty of personal training is that your instructor should be able to best advise you on how to meet them. If you are new to martial arts, then the instructor should be able to best advise you on what is right for you, and whether they can personally deliver that. For example, some martial arts are very difficult and slow to learn in the beginning, and can take many years to get good at. If you wanted something that was going to work your fitness and get results quickly, then these styles would not be for you. Copyright © 2011 – Palcic Taekwondo - All Rights Reserved Worldwide.

Once again, if you are totally new to martial arts, and want to start off, then we would recommend a popular art such as our main disciplines – taekwondo, or Kickboxing, both would give you a great workout as well as giving lots of in depth martial arts skills. If you would like some advice on which martial arts would best suit your needs then please contact us on – 07968056416 or email info@realblackbelts.co.uk

 Suitable location and Safety!!! If you are having personal training lessons, then you have a choice to have the lessons at your own premises, or at a location provided by the instructor/school if it is available. If you choose your own location, you need to ensure that you have a space of at least 3 meters square to safely move and train in, a back garden or large garage would be perfect. But you need to be certain that there is nothing close by that could cause you injury. A qualified instructor would immediately risk asses the training location and ensure that it is safe to train in.

 Make sure you can discuss your needs before hand Whether you are a new student wishing to take up personal training, or an existing student wishing to develop your skills further, it is very important that you discuss your personal needs with the instructor. Personal training is a different concept to that which some instructors are used to. In normal martial arts classes, the instructor is at the helm, and is the one who decides what is to be learnt and what the class should contain. In personal training this whole concept gets turned upside down, you are paying for the privilege of getting out of the class exactly what you want. It is therefore very important that you get a coach who really asks you what you want out of it and listens to your needs. It is of course important that you also listen to and trust in the instructor’s guidance in order to get the best out the experience. There may well be some other factors which you may wish to consider before committing, and if there is anything that you feel we have left out above which you would like to discuss then please do not hesitate to ask us.

What will you get from personal training?! If we were to go into detail about all the benefits that the right martial arts experience can give to you, this would indeed be a very long book!! So we shall try to keep it brief whilst giving you the essential benefits and show you why we really do believe in martial arts as a great sport and education for children.

 Increased physical health!! Martial arts are quite simply one of the best physical activities that you can do to keep yourself healthy and fit. In particular, our taekwondo programme focuses on lots of kicks and punches, so is certain to give you a great workout. Because of its fast pace, martial arts such as taekwondo and kickboxing give a great cardiovascular workout indeed. The explosive moves keep your muscles in such good condition. The intense speed and conditioning you need to perform helps with many areas of your fitness. The typical training regimen, involving extensive movements of the entire body, raises the pulse rate and oxygen characteristics of the heart and lungs over an extended period. This increased ventilation is termed an aerobic effect (Cooper, Kenneth H. “Aerobics” p108) and provides the following benefits: 1. Helps the lungs operate more efficiently. 2. Enlarges the blood vessels, making them more pliable and reducing the resistance to blood flow, thus lowering the blood pressure. 3. Increases the blood supply, especially red blood cells and hemoglobin. 4. It makes the body tissue healthier in supplying it with more oxygen. 5. It conditions the heart, providing more reserve for emergencies. 6. It promotes better sleep and waste elimination. The training tends to be a normalize of body weight in that it results in a gain of solid tissue for the underweight and a loss of body fat for the obese. The estimated calorie-consumption for a vigorous TaeKwon-Do workout is about six hundred calories per hour, one of the highest for any sports activity. Whether it is Taekwondo, or Kickboxing, or a mix of both, you will see fantastic results if your goal is fitness. The great thing with a personal training session is that we can tailor the workout to suit your own needs, whether it’s a certain muscle group you want to work, or a certain exercise you want to perfect. Personal training is definitely the best way to see the results quickly.

 Learn martial arts in depth We love teaching martial arts personal training as it allows us to go into massive detail about the martial arts movements. The standard that you are able to achieve is much higher than it is in a normal class setting. And the wealth of knowledge that we are able to give in the session is massive. The result that we can achieve in this format is amazing as we don’t have to think about any other students. We can make the class as fast or as slow as we need for you to learn at the pace that is right for you! And we can focus on only the stuff that you need to develop. The result of all this is very fast and more importantly thorough progress. We can also give you the best advice on what to do in between sessions.

 Mental benefits... There are many mental benefits to learning martial arts. For example it gives you a great increase in confidence if you are looking after yourself also confidence in the sense that you will feel more secure and able to defend yourself if the need ever arose. Martial art is also a very good way of releasing stress, and channeling stress and other negative emotions into a positive outlet. All of the mental and emotional benefits that one would normally get through martial arts training are achieved at accelerated pace when you take personal lessons.

 Self defence If self defense is your goal, then personal training is a great way to develop this to a high standard. Although all martial arts classes are good for self defense, personal training really excels in this area. You see, everyone’s body is built slightly differently, as well as their personality traits. What may be very good self defense for one person, may not be too effective for someone who is built differently. An obvious example of this would be to compare a man to a woman. If the man was well built and physically very strong, his combat self defense skills would be based more on the advantage of his size and build. It would be pointless to teach the same tactics to a smaller and lighter woman. Therefore everyone’s self defense needs are slightly different. In personal training you can be certain that we would cater the self defense that you are being taught to your personal needs and abilities.  Small group bookings We can also offer small group bookings as a way of learning in a small group of family or friends. This allows you to get many of the advantages of personal training as well as learning with another person.

 Great for existing students It is not only new beginners that benefit from personal training. Possibly the biggest benefits go to those who are already training, and wish to focus or improve on a certain aspect of their training. It could be that you have an event such as a competition or grading that you wish to train towards. Or maybe you want to learn a certain aspect in more detail. Personal training offers the perfect option to you.

 Achieve grades and ranks faster There is no doubt that personal training offers the fastest way of improving your skills, and takes you to the highest standards. It goes without saying that by having regular personal training sessions, you are able to grade faster than normal. This of course depends on how many sessions you do, but as a rule, you would learn three times as fast as normal, so in theory you could grade three times as quickly.

What to do next??!! If we have convinced you, or even made you a bit more curious into finding out for yourself whether martial arts is right for your child, then remember, we recommend that you try a FREE MARTIAL ARTS CLASS with us, or any other school. To see for yourself the
