We would definitely recommend other parents to join in with their kid’s and see how close your bond grows. Classes are mixed with adults and children, and there is a real community feel & spirit about Palcic TKD, with many new friends having been made since we started. All the instructors are very supportive and accommodate for different fitness levels, helping you with your individual needs, so Tae Kwon Do is suitable for everyone, no matter what your age”!! We do not ask for any money or commitment up front, and if you like the class, you can either sign up at the end, in which case we will often provide you with your FREE uniform there and then, or you can go away and think about it if you prefer. NOV BLACK BELT GRADINGS TO BE HELD IN WEMBLEY!! Yes that is correct... we are to host the second black belt grading of the year up here in Wembley. Normally it would be held in Dorset somewhere, but as we have so many students wishing to apply, we have successfully applied for it to be held up here. ALL you black tags better get training!!!!

NEWS URGENT NEWS FOR ALL HEMEL STUDENTS!!! JFK health and safety closure this eve!!!! WED 13th FEB!!!! It is with regret that i announce that we have just been informed by JFK school in Hemel that they have an emergancy closure in the school this eve. The whole school will be closed all day, following serious safety issues to electricity supplies. We have no choice but to cancel class tonight. Give me a few weeks for us to sort problems out and i shall organise a free 2 hour weapons and self defence seminar for all hemel students as a way of making up for all the interuptions we have had this year. And i thank you in advance for bearing with me. We shall also be looking for a new location very soon as we are suffering continual problems with our current location. Kind regards Paul Palcic

COMPETITION DETAILS

On Sunday the 24th March, we hosted our annual Black Belt pre grading seminar. This is open to all students wishing to apply for their Black Belt, and is and essential part of the black belt grading itself, as students get assessed and given feedback on all areas of the Black Belt grading. This first session was attended by 102 students all wishing to grade for Black Belt in May. The atmosphere was electric in the hall,as everyone did their best to show the assessors of their ability. Every student had to perform their patterns in front of the rest of the group, which is a nerve racking feat, but they all held it together and perfomred very well under pressure. Students were given lots of advice and encouragement, and although not everyone attending will be ready for the Black Belt grading, the standard generally was really high. Well done to all students for getting this far, and we look forwrards to seeing you all on the next session – 14th April.


ARTICLE BENEFITS OF KICKBOXING Physical benefits Weight Loss Kickboxing is a great way to shed excess pounds, which also improves overall health and well-being. As noted by the American Fitness Professionals and Associates, kickboxing provides a total body workout and incorporates strength training and cardiovascular exercise into each session. Although isolation exercises that include crunches are an effective way to improve muscle strength and tone, weight loss can only be achieved by burning more calories than you consume in your diet. Since a typical kickboxing session burns 350 to 450 calories per hour, even beginner kickboxing classes may provide significant results in very little time. Effects on Energy And Stress A regular kickboxing class increases energy levels and improves concentration, according to the AFPA. Kickboxing also provides an excellent avenue for stress relief. All types of exercise, and aerobic exercise in particular, increase the release of endorphins, which are chemicals that reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. Most kickboxing sessions also incorporate stretches, which help to relax the muscles and increase flexibility. As with any type of exercise, avoid overtraining, which can have the opposite effect. The AFPA recommends three classes of kickboxing each week.

Versatility Since kickboxing incorporates a variety of different elements, it is an ideal workout for those who are easily bored by more repetitive and monotonous forms of exercise, including running or swimming laps. If you have a hard time motivating yourself to get up and go for a one mile run or bicycle ride, consider picking up a kickboxing class. Although the workout is fast-paced and varied, each session is also unified and balanced, with a variety of exercises that work all the muscle groups. If you are new to kickboxing, be sure to start with a beginner class and work up to more advanced levels. Mental Benefits A good workout can stimulate the release of endorphins in your body. Endorphins are considered to be the happy hormones, as they usually help produce positive feelings and moods. Along with physiological benefits, when you start toning those muscles and losing weight, you’ll get a confidence boost when you start looking and feeling better about your body. Kickboxing is also a great stress reducer, and offers as many mental health benefits as physical benefits. While you’re getting a great, full-body workout with kickboxing, you’re also gaining a sense of empowerment and self-confidence by learning a few moves that you can use to protect yourself if you ever need to.
