The Procedure

Breast implant surgery usually takes between one and two hours and is performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon will cut beneath the breast, around the nipple, or in the armpit depending on what the patient desires and what the physician believes is ideal. They will next create a space for the implant under the breast tissue or behind the chest muscles.

Once the pocket is made, the surgeon will put the implant in and adjust it to make sure it is in the right place and looks the same on both sides. After that, sutures or surgical tape will be used to close the cuts.
