About Our Magazine In Real Family Travel Magazine, we embrace a sense of authenticity in our articles because we accept stories from writers from all around the world. In doing so, we acknowledge the different spellings and grammatical preferences associated with the English of various contributors' regions.. We spell words like "color" and "flavor" without the extra "u" in the USA, but some of our international writers include it. So rather than a "one size fits all" approach to editing, we’ve decided that we won’t change their spelling to be like "ours", and we won’t adjust ours to match theirs. There will be times when we break grammar or spelling rules that would make our high school English teachers cringe or include articles that have a more personal or conversational feel. We aren't like other magazines and we like it this way. Having genuine stories written by amazing people, not necessarily professional writers, is more aligned with the core values of Real Family Travel Magazine than strictly adhering to editorial guidelines. We hope you appreciate this about our magazine as we bring you REAL stories by REAL families about REAL travels around the globe.

Editor's Letter – June 2013 What an exciting issue you have before you! As a magazine editor and publisher, it's fun to try new things. This month, we're focusing on our kids! Each of our articles is written by a traveling teen. Our featured interview is with Hannah Miller (you should recognize her name from her contributions to our regular column “Ask the Traveling Teens”). She gives us an inside look into the life she's led and whether or not she would do the same with her own kids someday. We are also taking a look at long term travel or expat life (families living full-time outside of their ”home” country) with an outstanding video of interviews with young men and women who have spent most of their lives immersed in other countries. As for our teen author contributions, we'll explore the icy cold waters of Iceland and go hiking in Lassen Volcanic Park. Hear why one teen says that travel is “way better” than school. Read about how travel has changed one teen's life and been a great experience for another. Lastly, read a fun poem about a family road trip one teen took with her family.

On a recent trip to Memphis, TN, our family got to stay at the Peabody Hotel and we got to be honorary Duckmasters! This once in a lifetime experience reminded me that travel is all about doing things together, making memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives. I hope these teen's stories inspire you to travel MORE with your kids ... and make the years you have together unforgettable!
