Olivia Newton-John
Wellness And Healthy Living - Part Two By Kim Burns
“Did Sandy sell-out and become Danny’s leather clad dream or did she claim her sexuality and her inner self?” Unfortunately I did not ask this question. Too much speculation has already been made about the ending and my focus was to reach into the mind of ONJ on health and wellbeing. My interview with ONJ was an opportunity to explore how Olivia was able to stay cancer free for over 25 years. Unfortunately, her cancer had returned and she has developed metastatic breast cancer which spread to her sacrum. ONJ’s love and light spirit continues her forward on this new journey.
Live on, live on More than just survive my friend We learn how to thrive and then live on, live on Shining like the words inside this song, live on Love is all we leave when we are gone live on In every heart of those we touch In every dream that means so much Yes I believe that all of us live on Olivia Newton-John, Beth Nielsen Chapman & Amy Sky Create “LIV ON” A New Album to Aid & Comfort Those Experiencing Grief & Loss While Using the Power of Music To Heal Copyright: ℗© 2016 OBA Productions, LLC, under exclusive license to Universal Music Enterprises, a Division of UMG Recordings, Inc
ONJ calls herself a “cancer thriver”. It is a new way of thinking about lifestyle and way of life. Since finding out about my gene, HLA B27, a spondyloarthropathic disease, I have also had to change my outlook from victim of my disease to the one who controls this disease. It is an autoimmune gene associated with various forms of Spondylitis such as Reactive Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Psoriatic Arthritis. It is often undiagnosed and sufferers of this disease can be left to believe they have multiple diseases such as fibromyalgia, anxiety, irritable bowel or we start to think all this pain is just in our heads. Food is a big part of my daily attention. I like to say “All Day I Dream About Digestion” and I do, dream all day about eating food that doesn’t make me react in some way. Food that will provide my body with the nutrients it needs so I do not have to take pills and supplements. ONJ must have found this same natural healing technique as she wrote a cookbook “LivWise”. Through this book she shares how what we eat can influence our genetics to set in motion self-destruction or self-preservation. Such a great quote! You can control how your body reacts by what you put in and on it. I also think this is an influential quote: “What we put into our bodies creates the building blocks of our existence”. I asked ONJ what nutrition advice she would give to others on the healing journey?
ONJ: There’s so much out there now. We are in an amazing year of information. Anything you want to know about food or eating you can find online. I think for me, my mother was German and ate very simple, healthy foods. I didn’t like it when I was a young girl but I’m really grateful to her now. She taught me such good ways to eat. She would cook the potatoes with the skins on, steam the vegetables, grill the fish and chicken. I would complain “Mom, all my friends are having these fun things”, but I’m really, really happy now because you often go back to what you had as a child. You get out there and realize it’s the healthiest way to go. If I eat a lot one day, I will naturally eat less the next day. I just go by how my body feels. I listen to my body and make sure that I have protein, vegetables, and fruits that are really healthy and give me energy.
ONJ: Let me tell you my deepest darkest secrets? (Laughing)
I am a married to an amazing man, “Amazon John”. He was in the Amazon for 30 years and gets me these wonderful herbs from his company Amazon Herbs. Macca powder is a natural protein I use. I feel very grateful that I have him in my life to help me stay healthy. I treat myself though. I think you have to have fun with food. I love dark chocolate, the one thing that’s good for you!
Love and Light, Olivia Newton-John.
I think love is everything. Love and Health are everything. Find something in someone you love that is really important to your well-being. To be healthy. If you’re not healthy then it means nothing else works. Nothing matters. It doesn’t matter how rich you are. You can take care of health for your future now! Go to Fyzical Rehabilitation and have the tests that can tell you what is going on in your body. Pay attention to your dietary and exercise habits to ensure you have a longer and healthy life. It is critical for a happy life. Your health and your happiness go hand-in-hand.
I am eating gluten free and very little dairy. I’ll drink organic almond milk. In my English Breakfast Tea, which is the important thing, I have to have real milk in it. I think it’s important to have the things that you love yet in moderation. It’s balancing and knowing what works for your body and tuning in to digestion. What digests and what doesn’t. I take digestive enzymes with my meal which John makes. (Laughs) I feel very lucky that I have all the information of these wonderful products at hand. Coming to the end of my interview time, I tried to peek into what ONJ had for future plans yet she was elusive and pointed out that she lives in the now making things happen. She thinks positively about the future and enjoys the moment she’s in. I felt like I needed more Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre from her and decided to put it out there. www.onjcancercentre.org I asked: Do you have anything in particular that you would want to say before we go? Anything special Olivia Newton-John Website you want to get out there and have not told anybody www.olivianewton-john.com before?

Café Amici
Cheers To Friendship And Love!
By Kim Burns & Sandra Halliday Photography By Chuck Carroll
Amici means friends in Italian. Café Amici is the brainchild of two brothers, Massimo and Achille Nigri. The vibe at the Café is fueled by their love for bringing people together in a convivial atmosphere where friendships, and perhaps romance, could be forged and by their passion for regional cuisine that is inspired by their home town of Martina Franca in Puglia, Italy. Massimiliano and Achille Nigri are two brothers from Puglia that run Café Amici. Our dinner was a spectacular showcase of traditional Pugliese cuisine. To stimulate our senses and prime our body for the meal to come, Massimo made us aperitif cocktails. Kim’s By Amici was intended to be a bold introduction to the fine drinking world that only Massimo could provide. A combination of Mezcal, Campari, and Sweet Vermouth filled the description. Vermouth provided the sweet herbal flavor that rounded out the bitter of the brazen Campari. The smoky taste of the mezcal appears to keep your taste buds interested long after the liquid is gone from your mouth. Piazza Sandra was a tall glass of Amaretto DiSaronno, Crown Royal, cranberry juice, and garnished with a sprig of fresh mint. It had a sweet almond taste, like a marzipan dessert, combined with the smooth and creamy flavor of vanilla all in a playful tease with some cranberry tartness.
our Antipasti. Amici’s bruschetta is a traditional Apulian recipe topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic, and oregano. Specially created for the brothers, Café Amici’s Burrata is 50% buffalo milk and 50% cow’s milk. The Burrata was served on a wood block and we indulged on the creamy taste of heaven. The scintillating cream flavor that oozed from the ball of Burrata filled our senses providing us with the feeling of having just tasted the freshest milk you can receive.
Bruschetta al Pomodoro and Burrata con Speck began as

Without giving us much time to recover from the delight of fresh cheese, Massimo brought to the table a rosy hued plate of Red Beet Carpaccio with Grilled Octopus. This dish was a stunning work of edible art! The beets were sliced resembling thin, delicate rose petals. The octopus was grilled with just the right amount of smokiness and grill time to provide a perfect texture to bite into.
out his homemade Meatballs and Tomato Sauce, served with grated salty ricotta cheese and garnished with a large basil leaf. The mixture of beef, pork and veal provided a unique meaty taste that will keep you asking for more. The brothers presented their homemade Spinach Linguini with Burrata and Bacon. Al dente and delicately drizzled with olive oil from Puglia, this was comfort food at its most elegant. Fresh pasta can provide several essential nutrients for your body. Having freshly made pasta may allow those of us with digestive sensitivities the ability to enjoy pasta again! Café Amici’s showcase culinary fare continued with The Jumbo Beef Tortelloni Alla Beluga. It made a statement with its rich sauce filling the dish with flavor. Next came the Cervellata, a traditional Pugliese sausage made from pork, beef, and veal with basil, garlic, and a sharp, dry cheese. It’s high salt content left us craving for some good crusty Italian bread. Happily, for us, there was a full basket of pane. The dipping oil was an extraordinary combination of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, oregano, and grated Parmesan Cheese. Our Tortellini and Cervallata was wonderfully paired with Poderi Angelini’s Primitivo di Manduria, a full-bodied red from Puglia. Its velvety smooth bouquet of black cherry, oak, and leather immediately conjured images of the rugged beauty of a Pugliese countryside on a sultry summer’s day. Our eyes were treated to a burst of incredible colors in the form of black Squid Ink Lobster and Crab Ravioli topped with a classic mirepoix of sautéed chopped celery, carrots, and onions, served with a bright yellow limoncello reduction sauce. Achille tells us a story of how his mother created the sauce by accident. The result is a playful tease of tangy, sweet, salty, and savory that delighted our taste buds.
Just when we felt mealtime couldn’t get any better, Massimo brings out his pièce de résistance: Flourless Chocolate Almond Torte. Café Amici’s dark chocolate with crushed almonds flour-free torte was light with just the right amount of sweetness. This is definitely a healthy dessert option! From the staff’s avid attention to filling our glasses, as well as Massimo and Achille’s personal attention, you will find that Café Amici fills you with a very special vibe— one where you would want to experience again to enjoy top notch cuisine and a warm feeling where friends are always welcome. We left the restaurant feeling restored by the simplicity of every detail, the food, and the genuine hospitality of Massimo, Achille, and their staff. Salut! 5 Things Foreigners* Ask About Spending Time in Florida
O
ver the years I have worked with real estate buyers from many countries around the world. Their home countries and the properties they buy may vary, but their questions remain the same. Here are the top five questions I hear from overseas customers considering a longer stay in Florida: How long can I stay in my Florida vacation home, without running into visa issues? Once an overseas visitor has purchased a vacation home here, they can apply at the U.S. Embassy in their home country for the B1/B2 visa. This will allow them to come and go at will, but they do need to count the days they “have feet on U.S. soil”. Staying for more than 182 days in any calendar year may mean they become resident for U.S. tax purposes, and they will have to file a U.S. tax return on their worldwide income –something most people choose not to do! Who will look after my home when I’m not there? It’s no surprise that professional Home Watch services abound in a state where many homes are left unoccupied for long periods of time. For a set fee per month, or per visit, these companies will send a representative to visit unoccupied
homes periodically, to make sure all is well – air conditioning working, no plumbing or roof leaks for instance. These services should always be provided by a professional company, and not just a neighbor making a few extra dollars on the side. How easy is it to insure property that’s not occupied full time? Florida is a state where many people own a second home. Most insurance companies who operate here are familiar with the market and will have a policy to cover property that is unoccupied for periods of time. Some of them may reduce premiums if the property benefits from a regular Home Watch service. Should I buy a car or rent one every time I visit? If the driver doesn’t mind driving a small car, at the discretion of the car rental company, then a rental car picked up at the airport may be the cheapest option. If they are particular about the kind of car they drive, their home has a garage, and they really want a car to transport bicycles, kayaks and golf clubs, they may want to buy a car. Some auto insurance companies offer discounts if the car is used for only part of the year. When the car is left unused for some time, steps
should be taken to keep the battery charged of course. What if I need medical treatment in Florida? Medical care is readily available, but what about the costs? The cheapest way for foreigners to obtain medical insurance for longer trips is through their travel insurance company in their home country. Most will extend cover for longer periods of time, but arranging this will involve a conversation, rather than simply ordering the standard travel policy online. One of my British customers, who spends about 20 weeks a year in their Florida home, cut her finger and went to an urgent care office. She had to have stitches and antibiotics, and 2 more trips to the office. She tells me she paid for the treatment on her credit card and then it was an easy process to claim the costs back from her insurance when she returned home. *NOTE some of these comments may not apply to Canadian visitors and home owners.

REAL | legislation By Barry Grooms
You Should Be Afraid, Very Afraid! Under all is the land and private property rights are considered the “American Dream”. The 5th Amendment protects property by stating, “No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, with out just compensation.” Our rights are something that most of citizens take for granted until it affects them directly and very few monitor the machine called legislation in Tallahassee. Year after year law makers and special interest strategize on legislation that may have adverse effect on tax payers in Florida and many times are successful in pushing through language that is so complex and confusing that the average Joe doesn’t see it coming until tax time or they try to purchase or sell real property. REALTORS have been at the forefront defending private property rights on behalf of Florida property owners since 1916 and continues to be the voice for Florida citizens in Tallahassee. In recent years lawmakers have sponsored bills that could have greatly altered the landscape in many of our communities and across the state that were defeated by REALTORS. I have been a participant in many of the committee meetings and with the lawmakers we chose to represent us at the Capital. I have been fortunate enough to have a seat at the table and more importantly a voice in the policies that protect our precious real estate. I felt compelled to share with the public many of the initiatives that were successful in this year’s session to further define and protect our rights and help explain why it is so critical to keep our eyes on the policy makers. The first of several bills that I will report on is the cap on estoppel certificate fees -- SB 398 (Sen. Passidomo, R-Naples) caps estoppel certificate fees at $250 for unit owners who are current in their assessments. Sellers of properties who live in an HOA, condo association or co-op may be happy to learn that there will be a limit to the amount they’ll pay for an estoppel certificate, a document that informs a buyer if the seller is current with their dues and assessments. The bill caps estoppel certificate fees at $250 for unit owners who are current in their assessments. Associations may charge an additional $100 for expedited estoppel certificates (delivered within three business days) and another $150 to owners who are delinquent in their assessments. The bill sets the price of estoppel certificates for multiple units owned by the same person, and establishes a uniform, statewide format that ensures buyers and closing agents receive the appropriate information needed to close the real estate transaction. This bill also requires certificates to be valid for 30 days if delivered electronically or 35 days if delivered by mail. Effective: July 1, 2017.
homestead property taxes -- In 2008, voters approved Amendment 1, which created a 10 percent cap on the annual increase of property taxes for all non-homestead properties. The 2008 amendment sunsets on Jan. 1, 2019, unless renewed in the 2018 general election. HJR 21 (Rep. Colleen Burton, R-Lakeland) puts the question before voters again in November 2018. Unlike the 2008 referendum, which had a 10-year lifespan, HJR 21 would make the cap permanent. Most homeowners are familiar with the concept of homestead exemption and may be happy to hear that an additional homestead tax exemption bill passed-- Representing $645 million (and then increasing in subsequent years) in property tax savings, HJR 7105 (Rep. Mike La Rosa, R-St. Cloud) puts a constitutional amendment on the 2018 ballot that would allow homeowners to shield an additional $25,000 of the value of their home from non-school property taxes. This additional $25,000 would apply the exemption to the portion of values between $100,000 and $125,000. Effective Jan. 1, 2019, if approved by 60 percent of voters. On the same subject of homestead exemption a tax exemption for disabled first responders -- HB 455 (Rep. Larry Metz, R-Groveland) implements a constitutional amendment approved by voters in November 2016. It provides a 100 percent homestead tax exemption to first responders who become totally and permanently disabled in the line of duty. The bill also extends the 100 percent exemption to the surviving spouse under certain conditions. The estimated tax savings for these property owners is $4.5 million. Effective: Upon becoming law.

Players Centre for Performing Arts Making A Move! By Ed Bertha, Players Centre Ambassador The Players Centre for Performing Arts, a 501(c)3 non-profit, is Sarasota’s first performing arts organization and the second oldest in the State of Florida. The theatre opened in 1930, in the midst of the Great Depression, with a series of one-act plays. Two hundred and eighty-one member-patrons each paid a two-dollar subscription fee for the play series. Today, The Players Centre has grown from a grassroots arts organization into a major cultural institution that touches the lives of over 75,000 people annually. Last year, The Players Centre for Performing Arts announced its plans to relocate from downtown Sarasota to the Waterside Village of Lakewood Ranch. The current theatre site located in downtown Sarasota is for sale and a capital campaign to build the multi-theatre complex is currently underway. The new theatre will feature a 480-seat main stage auditorium with balcony seating, a 125-seat black box theatre, a 100-seat cabaret theatre with dining, and will house the main campus of The Arnold Simonsen Players Studio, which is the education arm of the organization. In order to maintain a downtown Sarasota presence, a satellite studio location will continue to operate in Rosemary Square.
“The Players Centre’s move to Lakewood Ranch is a major step toward connecting Sarasota’s Cultural Coast to the fourth bestselling community in the U.S. With over 600 annual performances and a children’s theatre school, The Players will draw arts and entertainment enthusiasts from around the region. One can envision a theater patron enjoying a great show and then dining and strolling along the lakefront in Waterside Place, the vibrant town center being planned for our new village,” says Rex E. Jensen, President & CEO of Schroeder Manatee Ranch, Inc. In order to make the new Players Centre a premier performance and arts education facility the goal is to raise $30,000,000. A generous lead gift of $1 million from the Muriel O’Neil Fund for the Performing Arts of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and the expected proceeds of approximately $9,000,000 from the sale of the current Players property will kick off the campaign.
“Our students are the next generation of actors, patrons and volunteers... The Players Centre for Performing Arts is for them! We see this building as the foundation for THEIR future and the future of performing arts in our community. We need your help to make a difference, to build a dream and to leave a legacy for our students of tomorrow, shares Michelle Bianchi, Managing Director/CEO of The Players Centre. Kimberly Burns
A Process that Leads to Health, Wellness, and Success
S
itting across from Kim Burns, you’d never know just a short time ago she was suffering from debilitating pain and was afflicted with illness. What you see today is shiny blonde hair, a slim fit build, and ample agility. Looking to be all of about 35 years-old, the surprise continues when I learn she is a grandmother of three healthy boys. Through her young adult years, Kim watched her mother suffer from a multitude of ailments that had been similarly developing, unbeknownst her. She believes it started at birth with musculoskeletal issues resulting in having to wear bars on her feet and special shoes to keep them from turning until the age of five. Beginning in her teenage years, a clicking in her hip and digestive issues was a constant. The resolution to these symptoms was never met through doctors or specialists. Lists of diagnoses piled on as the pain continued. Kim began working in the healthcare industry at an early age and continued in her career to become a certified nursing assistant then studied to become an occupational therapist. The work she had begun in the healthcare industry at this young age would later become beneficial on her own path to wellness and in helping that of others. Kim’s mom, who she referred to as “a cat with nine lives,” had lived through Polio and near death automobile accidents and started having health issues after a tetanus shot. The treatment was steroids and pain medication. The steroids caused more problems and the health complications and prescription medications snowballed from there. This was due in part because root issues were not being addressed and the proper tests to diagnose the core problem were not being conducted. Following doctors orders, Kim’s mother continued on prescribed medicines and turned to every quick-fix remedy she knew. Kim watched her mother go through these illnesses and was exposed to just about every self-help cure out there. Nothing seemed to work. Kim’s work as an occupational therapist lent her the experience of working with a broad array of people and ailments, both young and old with issues ranging from autism to dementia. While working clients through occupational therapy, she taught patients how to be capable to do daily activities on their own. Whatever physical task that seemed too far out of reach, she would guide them through the process of attaining their goals.
relationship between her illnesses and the gene. There is no single laboratory test for diagnosing this type of inflammatory disease. The HLA-B27 genetic marker is commonly found among this disease classification of Spondyloarthropathy. What makes this even more difficult to manage is that instead of seeing this disease through a whole body approach, treatment is directed toward the specific body area(s) inflamed or affected. Being too reliant on medication and not wanting to end up crippled like her mother, a shift occurred along with a deeper look into the gene and the ailments that began at birth. The pieces of the puzzle started to come together. The first major change that took place was eliminating gluten and most medications from her diet. It was later discovered that starch, lactose and sugar aggravates HLB-B27 symptoms. Additionally, increasing alternative treatments like massage therapy and acupuncture, were added to her self-guided treatment plan. This was expensive and not sustainable. So the self-taught work continued with electrical stimulation, kinesiotaping and hot/cold modalities being utilized daily. Wanting to understand what was causing her mother’s and her own difficulties with leg swelling she studied the Lymphatic System and became Lymphedema Certified. This helped her to understand the relationship between the circulatory system and the lymphatic system. A Yoga Certification for rehabilitation assisted in learning proper breathing, posture, and exercises to correct alignment and joint-related issues. Proper breathing plays a vital role to good health. “If you can control your breath, you can influence control over your body.” Kim explains diaphragmatic breathing techniques will stimulate calming and increased oxygen utilization as well as aide in detoxification as opposed to chest breathing, which stimulates the fight or flight response and upsets the nervous system taxing the organs. With diaphragmatic breathing, you can help the nervous system influence relaxation of the internal organs and heart.
She believes that, “You can change your body, even in old age. The right treatment choices and follow through can stimulate regeneration.”
Still not enough to end all of the ailments, chiropractic care and laser treatment came next along with months of self- rehabilitation exercises. Through doing this work, she learned that the thyroid issues were caused by a condition called forward head posture, which is a result of the spine being out of alignment and forcing the head forward compressing the thyroid. This was something medication could not fix.
Kim worked full-time even though she had to deal with daily chronic pain. Raising two daughters as a single mom with very little support and a lot of conflict left little time to tend to her own self-care. Alternatively, unhealthy lifestyle choices were used as a coping mechanism and crutch to handle life’s ups and downs and to numb the pain of health problems occurring during this time in her life.
Knowing it’s a continual process, and while not completely free of pain, Kim does the mindful daily work which includes following a specific, healthy food-style, yoga and spinal exercises, practicing proper breathing, and uses proactive tools such as ice packs for inflammation and wearing compression stockings if her day involves standing for an extended amount of time.
After over 20 years of multiple inflictions, her mother was diagnosed as having Reactive Arthritis, a painful form of inflammatory arthritis triggered by bacteria and arises from the gene HLA-B27. This is typical of this gene and its symptoms. It took Kim over 10 years as well to get a diagnosis and understand the
“It’s daily attention. You have to attend to every aspect every day. The research I have done, and continue to do, changed things in a positive way and brought me to a place of healing.” You can often find her in the kitchen making homemade coconut milk as an alternative to dairy, which is an allergen for some. “I’m cooking and food processing all the time.”

She advises swapping out foods that may cause sensitivities. Instead of butter, use the clarified form known as Ghee. “Always, read ingredients so you know what is going into your body.” Purium organic products are what she uses daily. After lacking energy for a long time, Kim reports the super dense green nutrition products have restored her ability to participate in life’s activities with less fatigue. Along with her extensive healthcare background and certifications, Kim took these self-taught skills and shares the knowledge of her journey to help people improve their own quality of life through her company Sensory Intuition. As a personal healthcare consultant, she addresses clients’ needs for pain and disease management, weight loss or addiction, and leads the way to becoming healthy and fit. Services offered include yoga rehabilitation, healthcare consulting, and massage therapy with techniques including manual lymph drainage/ lymphatic massage, manual therapy, facial rejuvenation, and posture work. Stepping into the Real Estate industry was an easy transition as many of the skills required are tied to ones she has attained through her collective work leading up to present day. Seeing clients as more than consumers wanting to buy or sell a house is a huge portion of the role. As a therapist she was taught to see the client as a whole versus in parts. It is a trait she excels at through her experience in healthcare working with a broad range of people. She translates the work as an occupational therapist to, “the job of living,” and that directly carries over into real estate, finding and selling places to live. “In the healthcare world, you have to be your own advocate, take your health into your own hands,” Kim stresses. This can also relate to the real estate world with all the options there are for buying and selling. “Learn what questions to ask, research, and get second or third opinions. Never stop learning.”
Just like swapping out food items for healthier choices, when working in real estate you also have to modify and adapt to a client’s individual wants and needs, being knowledgeable, offering alternatives and finding solutions. It’s about recognizing the interconnected aspects of a person or situation. “I create a calm and healthy atmosphere for clients in a busy and stressful time. I understand the client as being holistic, guiding them through the real estate experience while taking the well-being of the whole person into account to make it a stress free process.”

The History of Balayage This method of coloring emerged in Paris in the 1970’s; the name is French for “to sweep,” a reference to the way in which the color is applied. After it was exported to the United States, Balayage
I
n the 70’s, this technique was originally called “Balayage a Coton” for it’s use of cotton strips to separate the colored hair from the untouched portion. It was introduced during the time when the industry norm was frosting caps and solid colors, making the Balayage technique truly revolutionary for its time! In the 80’s the industry introduced many varieties of foil highlighting techniques and it wasn’t actually until the early 90’s that Balayage first entered the US by storm grabbing the attention of top celebrities and became one of the hottest color trends to date! When Sarah Jessica Parker began rocking the sun-kissed, dimensional
color pattern in the last days of Sex & The City, every fashionista in the nation was on board. IT IS A TECHINIQUE When hair is colored with the Balayage process, the highlights are painted on by hand in a sweeping motion that moves from the base to the tip of the hair. At the base, the color is applied very lightly, while at the tip, the color is very heavy. The result is a chunky highlight that looks naturally sun bleached, and as the hair grows out, the root will be concealed for the first few months by the thinner color applied to the base of the hair. Balayage can give the illusion of length if you’re in the process of growing out your hair, it can add width to your style to balance out a long face shape or it can even just add points to give drama to an asymmetrical cut. It is structure and technique and knowledge. But it is also freedom and creativity and style. Balayage is totally personal and individual and should be customized to your desires by a very experienced master colorist ..... call an ARTIST HAIR STYLIST. NOT JUST FOR BLONDS It’s important to note that Balayage is definitely not just for blondes. Brunettes, redheads, even those with black hair can all take advantage of hair painting. The results will be subtle, but they’ll add the dimension that everyone craves, giving dark brunette swirls of cinnamon or caramel, for example.
FOILS -VS- BALAYAGE Foils often end up looking contrived - a neat row of uniform highlights. When a section of hair is colored using a foil, the entire section is saturated with color resulting in dense, unnatural stripes of color. Balayage color is painted in soft brush strokes across the surface of the hair, leaving you with natural-looking swipes of color that flow from thick to thin and play off the hair’s natural movement. Even better, Balayage won’t leave you with any signs of demarcation, creating a softer and more manageable grow-out. BALICOLOR: A combination of dry haircutting and Balayage; the former maximizes the movement; the latter emphasizes it. OMBRE BALAYAGE: The super-chic shading from dark to light in hair color, created by adding Balayage highlights on the mid-shaft and ends of the hair. “ENJOY THIS TECHNIQUE AS IT IS STILL A HOT TREND FOR 2017” Sheila Venancia International Hair Stylist (941) 822.2152 sheilasvs@hotmail.com Facebook - Sheila Venancia International Hair Stylist

“Now in my 18th year as president of Ringling College, I am so thrilled to have played a part, along with our faculty and staff, in transforming the institution as a whole. Together we have established a challenging, nurturing, inspiring educational environment that fully embraces and encourages creativity on every level. When our students graduate, they are poised and ready to take on the creative career of their dreams. They are the game-changers. Fully understanding the fact that art and design inform every single facet of their lives, they also know it does the same to ours. This is why creativity is the “oil” - the economic energy of the future - and the future is now.”
