Away from the fun & horrors of Halloween and straight to ‘ancestry of the day’ According to Ancestry.com, Actor George Clooney is related to the 16th US President Abraham Lincoln . The finding came recently as Ancestry.com researchers were tracing the president's lineage in celebration of the upcoming film, Lincoln. "We noticed there were similarities between the names and places of Abraham Lincoln's tree and George Clooney's tree," the genealogy website's Michelle Ercanbrack tells PEOPLE. "They both have deep roots in Kentucky, so once we honed in on that we were able to find a connection between the two." The men are connected through Lucy Hanks, who was Lincoln's maternal grandmother. Marriages and births make Clooney the president's half-first cousin five times removed. But the men share more than just family, Ercanbrack points out.

‘HIGH HEELS’ the Sexy Symbol Of Glamour
A
bout 95% of adult women wear high heels at some points in their lives; do you know where the high heels come from? How did they evolve into something women wear today? From ancient times till today, get to know the heels' evolving journey. 3500 B.C. - Precursors to the high heels were found in Egyptian tomes and on murals. At that time, high heels were worn the higher class mostly. 200 B.C. - Platform sandals with high cork or wood soles became popular among actors in ancient Greece and Rome. Middle Ages - Women and men all worn patterns or wooden soles, which would help them stay away from mud. These were clearly a precursor to the modern high heels, 1400s - Sandals with platforms was very popular, called "chopines", the heels ranging from 15 to 42 cm tall. Being associated with sexuality, this shoe was banned in Venice in year 1430. 1533 - Petite figure Catherine de Medici worn high heels when she married King Henry II of France to appear taller. The high heel fashion was introduced to the European aristocracy. 1600s -English Parliament decided to punish all women who worn high heels as witches to seduce or attract men into marriage. 1700s - France's King Louis XIV worn heels with 2 to 5 inches decorated with battle scenes, called "Louis Heels". He deemed that no one could wear heels higher than him. Typical king mentality! I hope that he didn't kill anybody for that. 1745 - Madame De Pompadour promoted high narrow "Pompadoure Heels" due to her own tiny foot. Ladies tape their feet to make them look smaller. Painful habit. 1793 -Napoleon banished high heels to show equality due to its associations with wealth and aristocracy. Since then, the height of heels continued to shrink, that was the start of low heels. 1800s - High heels arrived in the US and gaining momentum. The invention of sewing machine marked the varieties of heels. The heels then even were promoted as beneficial to health through advertisement as reliving back pain and correct posture. 1858 - First Parisian footwear company was founded by Englishman Charles Worth, named the Pump Pinet. 1920s - After the 1st world War, with the development of the economy, shoes became essential fashion accessories. They were even used for dancing. Ginger Rogers danced backwards in her high heels. 1940s -Since the 2nd World War, due to low supply the high heels went through a phase of moderation - lower and wider heels became popular. 1950s - Shoe maker Roger Vivier worked for designer Christian Dior, and the duo together invented the heel stiletto. 1960s - Heeled boots became popular to style with mini skirt. Due to the high price of leather, synthetic material heels were introduced in the fashion world. 1970s - The Platform became extremely popular for both men and women. The platforms were mostly with psychedelic colors and swirls. 1980s & 1990s - High heels made a successful comeback. Although feminists argue that high heels means women's submission to please men. However modern women claimed that they wear high heels for themselves, because high heels represent efficiency, power and authority. 21st Century - High heels are in our everyday life and new styles are coming out fast. Models and super stars always stay at the front of the fashion scene, sometimes with the shocking shoe design. High heels symbolize glamour, elegance, femininity and confidence.
High heels are amazing; however wearing for long time might hurt your feet. While low heels can elongate your body and won't make your feel too bad, however it's not as 'sexy' as high heels. What do you choose? This also brings in another question, why are high heels so enticing? What is it about sex and this type of shoe or do heels just depict sexuality? Gad Saad is Professor of Marketing at Concordia University and author of The Evolutionary Bases of Consumption and The Consuming Instinct writes “I reviewed several studies that have explored high heels from an evolutionary/biological perspective. It turns out that high

depending on the size of the heel). In other words, it is an anti-gravity device meant to create a more youthful figure given that the effects of gravity are less than complimentary as we age. Hence, a Gestalt is created by the high heel, which caters to men's evolved visual preferences. As might be expected then, several consumption settings wherein sexuality is sold or promoted by women to men, will involve the wearing of high heels. Examples include the proclivity of actresses, strippers, and bikini models to wear high heels in film scenes, strip clubs, and beauty competitions respectively. I should note that the wearing of high heels is the direct cause of severe podiatric injuries. That fact notwithstanding, this is not a manifestation of the evil patriarchy seeking to uncover new ways to harm women. Rather, both sexes go to great lengths to be impressive in the mating market, even if some of these attempts are self-harming (e.g., men engage in risky matingrelating behaviors that are exceptionally dangerous, as a means of impressing women). A British movie, Kinky Boots (2005) depicts this clearly - "Look to the heel, young man. The sex is in the heel." Finally, I would be remiss if I did not mention a recent study by a woman urologist who apparently found that the wearing of high heels strengthens a woman's pelvic floor muscles, leading to improved sex. Bottom line: the wearing of high heels has totally evolved and is a win-win situation (sexy to men's eyes and better sex for women) unless you are a short man dwarfed by your high-heeled mate. Amazing journey, isn't it?

The Clash of the Titans Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X vs iPhone 4S They are big, very bold and they will probably be the best selling phones of the 2012. But how do they compare to each other? We've dug into the spec sheet, fondled the phones and mused deeply on what a smartphone is to find out. Here's what we found‌ Body and build Samsung Galaxy S3 - Plastic, Gorilla Glass II HTC One X - Plastic, Gorilla Glass iPhone 4S - Metal, toughened glass, oleophobic surface If you want a giant-screened phone, you'll have to accept that your mobile will have a plasticky finish that probably won't feel quite as good as the hard and dense vibe of smaller metal phones. It's not a hard and fast rule that big phones can't use a metal like aluminium, but most manufacturers stick with plastic to keep weight down. The HTC One X has taken a leaf out of Nokia's book, with a Lumia 800-like plastic finish. Samsung's Galaxy S3 comes in two shiny plastic finishes - white and a dark blue brushed metal-effect, but it's still definitely plastic. LIke the Samsung Galaxy S2 before it, the battery cover is a very thin piece of plastic. It looks nice, but doesn't feel a million dollars converted into phone form. On the other side of the fence, the iPhone 4S is covered on each side by layers of toughened glass. It helps to keep the phone feeling ultra-premium, but doesn't half make you worried about dropping the thing. Dimensions and weight Samsung Galaxy S3 - 131 x 63.7 x 8.9mm, 133g HTC One X - 134 x 70 x 8.9mm, 130g iPhone 4S - 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm, 140g Using plastic as the main body material pays off in weight. Both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X are significantly lighter than the iPhone. We say significantly, but its only so in phone design terms. The sub-20g difference is only worth worrying about if your arms are weaker than our puns. What's less easy to forget is that the Samsung and HTC are both very large, on account of their oversized screens. Two centimetres in length and one in width makes the larger phones completely different to hold. In our experience, though, larger phones slip into most pockets fairly easily because they're so thin. The iPhone 4S is the thickest device of the three and - let's face it - it's hardly a porker. Screen Samsung Galaxy S3 - 4.8in Super AMOLED, 720 x 1,280 pixels HTC One X - 4.7in Super IPS, 720 x 1,280 pixels iPhone 4S - 3.5in IPS, 640 x 960 pixels An important question for phone buyers in 2012 is - IPS or Super AMOLED? As more manufacturers start to move on from the so-so S-LCD screens of 2011, these higher-performing screen types are becoming the standard at the top-end in 2012.The HTC One X and iPhone 4S use a variation on the IPS type - which stands for in-plane switching. These screens are also used in iPads, and most top-end tablets. Benefits include excellent viewing angles and great overall picture quality. The one chink in the IPS armour is the use of a universal backlight. In a dark environment, the luminescence of the backlight is visible - appearing greyish or blueish. The Samsung Galaxy S3's Super AMOLED screen avoids this effect. It uses light-emitting pixels rather than a standard backlight, letting pixels displaying black stay perfectly dark. Another big consideration in screens here is, of course, size. To watch movies or play games on, the extra screen inch of the HTC and Samsung Android phones comes in seriously handy. Storage Samsung Galaxy S3 - 16/32/64GB, microSD HTC One X - 32GB, non-expandable iPhone 4S - 16/32/64GB, non-expandable Apple's iPhone has never had expandable memory, and it's not something that's likely to change with this year's iPhone 5, either. However, leaving out the microSD card slot in the HTC One X is arguably even more annoying than it is in iDevices. You can buy a 64GB iPhone, but the HTC One X maxes-out at 32GB. That's not really enough to house a large music collection, plus apps and games. The Samsung Galaxy S3 continues the trend of its predecessor the Galaxy S2, with at least 16GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot. Best of both worlds? Yes, although the 64GB does not come cheap. Software Samsung Galaxy S3 - Android 4.0, TouchWiz HTC One X - Android 4.0, HTC Sense iPhone 4S - iOS The argument of Android versus iPhone has been fought for the best part of five years now, and the two sides are just as passionate as ever. In case you've not read up on this ongoing debate before, Android is more open, more customisable and - usually - a fair bit buggier. Android 4.0 helps to lessen the gap on this front, but it's still roughly true. With an iPhone, you can't change any of this. You can alter background images, but that's about it - unless you hack the phone. The trade-off is that iOS has a much better selection of apps and games available. There are loads on Android too, but they don't reach the same heights in most fields as iOS.

Connectivity Samsung Galaxy S3 - microUSB w/MHL, 3.5mm jack, microSD, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 HTC One X - microUSB w/MHL, 3.5mm jack, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 iPhone 4S - proprietary socket, 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth 4.0 Like many top-end Android phones these days, both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X have rejected the miniHDMI port. You're not left high and dry for video output, though. The microUSB slots on these phones are MHL-compliant, meaning you can plug them into a TV and pipe across HD video and surround sound with the right cable. Samsung has also produced an AllShare dongle, to make piping content over Wi-Fi to any TV easy. The iPhone is a little more constrained, predictably. You have to invest in an HDMI adapter to get video transmitted non-wirelessly, and the official one costs between £28 and £35. That doesn't include the HDMI cable, either. Cameras Samsung Galaxy S3 - 8MP, LED flash, 1.3MP user-facing HTC One X - 8MP, LED flash, f/2.0, 1.3MP user-facing iPhone 4S - 8MP, LED flash, f/2.4, VGA user-facing Is the megapixel war coming to an end? Maybe it's already over. The first 8MP phones were released four years ago in 2008, and yet we're still rolling along with similarly-specced sensors today. It's not quite as simple as that, though. Manufacturers are starting to pay a bit more attention to the aperture of their sensors, which also has a big effect on image quality. In spite of using a very wide aperture for a phone, we found that the iPhone 4S was still a bit better than the HTC One X at capturing detail. We haven't yet had a chance to give the Samsung Galaxy S3's camera a proper going-over, so stay tuned for the full review. Battery life Samsung Galaxy S3 - 2100mAh HTC One X - 1800mAh iPhone 4S - 1432mAh The Android duo have much larger batteries than the iPhone. It's no surprise when they have to power much larger screens with many more pixels in 'em. However, as with processor power, there's another factor to consider here - power management. Android is notoriously bad at power management, in part because it allows apps in the background when not being used, to access all sorts of battery-sapping system functions. There is a solution to increase any smartphone's battery life hugely, of course - switch off mobile data. But then your smartphone stops being quite so… smart Courtesy of Trusted Reviews
