Garfield HS KEY CLUB The Official Newsletter of James A. Garfield High School Key Club, Division 26

August 28th, 2013

Social Events Key Club is more than just community service; it’s about meeting your peers and making new friends as well! Although it may seem like most of the social events are on the divisional level (DCMs, fundraisers) or on the district level (DCON, rallies) we do try to organize a few socials throughout the school year and summer. We’ve done some barbeques/potlucks, karaoke, and we recently just organized an Ultimate Frisbee game at Jefferson this past week! There was also an unofficial multidivisional bonfire at Alki that some Division 32 Key Clubbers organized, so be on the lookout for events independently hosted by members. Currently, there aren’t any club socials happening, but the September DCM and the annual Ice Skating DCM are sure to be FUN!

MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR Dear Key Clubbers, One more week until school starts! You can thank a few of our Key Clubbers for helping stuff and distribute your first day packet. We have a few new events coming up, including the return of our Seahawks event, the 8th Annual Bike/Walk for Sickle Cell, and the Night Market & Moon Festival. Yes, it’s the yearly night market that takes place in the International District, and if you went last year, you’ll remember it was full of booths, delicious food, awesome people, and even a late night dance party. We also wrapped up our last car wash on Saturday! We were a little short of our $1,000 goal, but we hope to make up the fundraising gap through future fundraisers, such as our popular peppermint bark fundraiser. I’d like to give a HUGE thank you on behalf of all the officers to those who helped fundraise at the car washes, even if you only dropped by for a few minutes to wave a sign or two. If you have any questions about joining or becoming more active in Key Club this year, feel free to contact me! I’ve received a few messages so far, and I’d be happy to answer any questions.  -Reanne Wong
