Which food choices should we really be afraid of? With over 1,900 edible species on Earth, insects already exist in the diet of many nations and cultures. Is it time for Americans to adopt insect eating as a (tasty) strategy to counteract the harmful and costly effects of livestock agriculture? Let’s find out!

PRODUCES

The overcrowded conditions of animal feedlots produce concentrated amounts of manure and urine, which seep into water, causing eutrophication and infecting the water with harmful bacteria. This also makes it necessary for large livestock to take heavy antibiotics, which also ends up in water or in the humans that consume them.
