NEW
THE ALL-NEW JOHN DEERE 6R SERIES GO SMART, DO MORE Since their launch in 2011, John Deere’s 6R Series tractors have set standards in both field and transport performance as well as precision ag technology. With 14 new generation models from 110 to 250hp announced this month, these tractors have become even smarter to help operators achieve even more. In addition, four brand new models include the fourcylinder 6R 150, aimed particularly at mixed farms, and the six-cylinder 6R 185, a specialist transport tractor for farmers and contractors who spend more time on the road. A key new 6R Series feature is the integrated 1-Click-Go AutoSetup system, which makes tractor and implement settings much quicker and easier. The operator can save up to 90 per cent of display clicks in the field and the tractor is always perfectly adjusted. All the required settings can be pre-planned and managed in the cloud, including agronomic data such as field boundaries, guidance lines and prescriptions. Once the tractor crosses the field boundary, the stored profile is automatically available and even temporary drivers can be consistently accurate and avoid mistakes. While AutoSetup makes the driver’s life easier, John Deere has also increased operator comfort. Among other features, the dashboard behind the steering wheel has disappeared – this not only improves forward visibility, but also operator control using the armrest and right-hand console. All settings and indicators are provided on the corner post display. Another new feature is the E-joystick, which is particularly useful for front loader work. The operator can freely configure the layout of the buttons and can easily change the direction of travel using the reverser button, while a special hand detection system replaces the former safety flap. For front loaders, there is a dynamic weighing system that allows weighing on the move, without having to stop. In addition, the Return to Position feature enables the loader to be placed into the correct position with one click, while Level to Horizon avoids spilling the bucket load. IPM (Intelligent Power Management) has been made smarter on the new 6R Series. This means that in addition to IPM functioning in transport and PTO applications, it also delivers additional horsepower in hydraulic applications as required. The four-cylinder models can now deliver up to 20hp and the sixcylinder models up to 40hp when using hydraulic fans, pumps and the most power-hungry hydraulic implements, eg wrapping balers, slurry tankers and drills. In late 2022 a new StarFire satellite receiver will offer even more precision ag performance. No matter which level of correction signal accuracy farmers choose, this new receiver will provide superior signal stability when operating in shaded areas. Another highlight of the latest 6R Series tractors is their new design. The hood and mirrors are well known from John Deere’s larger tractor series, while the name and numbering system has also been adopted from the 7R, 8R and 9R Series models. The 6R range name is now followed by a separate indication of the rated engine horsepower.

To meet individual customer requirements, the 6R Series has been extended by four new tractor models. Chief of these are the compact and efficient 6R 185 that delivers up to 234hp with IPM and is specially designed for transport work, plus the 6R 150 with a four-cylinder engine and high payload, which is the perfect all-rounder for mixed farms. There are also more transmission options available in this new range. In addition to AutoQuad Plus and the AutoPowr infinitely variable transmission, customers can now choose the CommandQuad option for fourcylinder models.
6R 185: King of the road The new 6R 185 is aimed at farmers and contractors looking for a compact, versatile and powerful 6-cylinder tractor to be used mainly for transport, but also capable of handling demanding hydraulic power requirements. It delivers up to 234hp maximum power with Intelligent Power Management in transport, PTO and hydraulic applications. The 6R 185 is also an agile tractor, due to its short wheelbase of just 2.76m, which makes it more compact than the larger 6R Series models with a 2.8 or 2.9m wheelbase. This feature, combined with the proven 6.8-litre John Deere PowerTech PSS engine and highly efficient AutoPowr transmission, makes this tractor particularly fuel efficient on the road. The 6R 250 flagship model has already set a new efficiency standard in transport applications, and John Deere is convinced that the 6R 185 will be a worthy heir in this class.
6R 150: The all-rounder Mixed farms prefer four-cylinder tractors, but do not want to sacrifice power. With a maximum power rating of 165hp or 177hp with IPM, the 6R 150 is now the largest four-cylinder model in the series and covers this tractor segment perfectly. Tyre size has also been increased, with rear wheel options available up to 650/65 R38. Its short wheelbase of only 2.58m makes this machine particularly manoeuvrable. With a low empty weight of 6.5 tonnes and a total permissible weight of 10.45 tonnes, the 6R 150 tractor provides a very high payload of 4 tonnes. It therefore offers the performance of a six-cylinder tractor with the advantages of a four-cylinder machine, compact dimensions and light weight combined with agile and versatile performance. For lifting heavier equipment, rear hydraulic lift capacity has been increased by 12 per cent. The 6R 150 also offers a larger 155-litre hydraulic pump which, combined with the dynamic weighing system, provides considerable front loader performance advantages.

Tractor oil leaks can be costly to keep maintaining the correct oil level. We wash the tractor to help find the source. It may be a simple ‘O’ ring leaking. In this case there was a fan belt shredding and half missing. If the belt brakes it could cause the engine to overheat causing consequential damage, it is good practice to check and replace at regular intervals. Front headlight glass is misted obscuring light, this part can be easily be replaced.

It’s important to reduce competition for feed between livestock in the same batch. All animals must get their fair share of quality mixed rations! The PROFILE range features an impressive selection of discharge solutions to ensure even distribution of the rations whether you have sheds with no separate exit, troughs with retaining rims or very narrow feed passages, feeding tables on both sides of the passage requiring simultaneous distribution, or other constraints requiring distribution from the rear of the machine, you will find what you need in the PROFILE range.
EXCLUSIVE KUHN MIXING AUGER! The double-pitch angle of the auger enables quick breakdown of feed, no matter how full the machine already is. To reduce power consumption, the PROFILE range is equipped with asymmetric knives which give a “self-cleaning” effect and also have a progressive-cutting knife edge for constant torque transfer. The continuous auger helix naturally moves the fodder from the bottom to the top of the tub for even mixing with no forced movements, reducing fuel consumption during the mixing process.
K-NOX TECHNOLOGY To ensure the long-term performance of your PROFILE (PLUS) 2 DL-2 CL mixer wagon, the optional K-NOX auger mixers are designed to substantially reduce wear and tear caused by abrasion and silage acidity. K-NOX mixing augers are built entirely from the same alloy: coil, cone and scraper, providing greater resistance to silage acids.
The machine transmission is made up of a two-stage bearing therefore even during breakdown of a whole bale, stress is absorbed. The combination of the pre-stressed subframe (1) and the solid auger base provides maximum resistance to the load bearing in the bottom of the machine. 1. The unit is fitted on a collar (2) which reaches up to approximately half the auger height, thus protecting the transmission from lateral forces exerted on the auger. Based on KUHN technology, the angle gearbox is known for its reliability and used on all the 2,000 mixer wagons produced each year.

The EMC (Mass Electronic Control) system regulates flow automatically and independently left and right during spreading and the spreaders have a CDA distribution system for accurate distribution in all conditions and "continuous" regulation with the weighing system for absolute application accuracy. EMC or “Electronic Mass Flow Control“ regulates the flow on the left and right sides independently like a “weighing” device on each disc. This unique regulation system, enables each plant on the plot to receive the right fertiliser dose each second. It’s simple, the fertiliser flow is measured on each disc: in case of clogging, only the concerned outlet is instantaneously and automatically adjusted.
SECTION CONTROL The VARISPREAD PRO allows continuous highspeed section control thanks to the SpeedServo. With OPTIPOINT, you automatically get the right outlet opening and closing position and these are ISOBUS compatible across the entire range of AXIS electronic spreaders. Hydraulic or mechanical disc drive available. Composed of two electric motors 2.5 times faster than a traditional cylinder, it changes the
drop points and adapts the application pattern to the shape of the plot. You obtain improved overlap management and the right dose in the right place even at high ground speed. The VARISPREAD PRO is available as standard on mechanically driven AXIS (M-EMC (W)) and hydraulic models (H-EMC (W)). It manages points in both directions: from the inside out and from the outside to the inside.
Sensors measure the disc drive speed every second. According to these measurements, the fertiliser flow is automatically adjusted independently for the left and right discs without being affected by slopes or vibrations. Fuel efficiency is improved with the reduced engine speed. No calibration test is required, only programme the dose and start spreading. The application rate range is very wide: between 20 and 500 kg/min. The left/right application rate modulation per GPS is thus possible with great precision.

RODBASTON COLLEGE VISITS RVT In October we were pleased to welcome Rodbaston Level 2 and 3 students to RVT Shrewsbury. Running over two days the students learnt all about the different areas of the business including Precision Ag, Marketing, Careers and Aftersales. Paul Delahay, RVT Aftersales Support and Steve Carver, RVT Newport Service Manager, presented an overview of tractor servicing and maintenance, and explained how remote monitoring is used for proactive connected support from the RVT Connected Support Hub. By logging into the John Deere diagnostics centre, used by technicians, they demonstrated how the technicians identify issues for timely effective solutions. There was a yard tour, looking inside a John Deere self-propelled forager and also an introduction into the HarvestLab technology.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LUKE CHIDLEY ON GRADUATION
Tommy Adams, RVT Precision Manager, logged into John Deere Operations Centre to view tractors and a forage harvester foraging maize live. It was interesting to see all the data collected from each field and the HarvestLab data of the forage, giving an example of just how data gives businesses more insight to making better decisions in the future. ‘Businesses are now more data driven and it was interesting to see how technology is helping to drive agricultural business to becoming more efficient and sustainable,’ says Jamie Youngs, Rodbaston College Lecturer. Employees are at the heart of RVT, the core values of: Trust and Respect, Committed to Service and Teamwork create a great working supportive culture and there is a lot of investment in the products, people and service. The students learnt how RVT aims to be ‘employer of choice’ and were introduced to the apprenticeship opportunities throughout the business. Tyler Richards, RVT Parts Assistant Manager, explained the role of parts within the business and his journey through the John Deere apprenticeship programme. Quickly see the status of your equipment and field work
View crop performance in a selected area with Field Analyzer Beta
of the field. The information for the selected zone will then appear next to the whole field’s totals in the data analysis table.
Use Field Analyzer Beta report card for end of year review and decision making for the next season. Now it has the ability to review crop performance in an area of the field to the data analysis table below the map. This new experience lets you compare two operations or map layers for a selected zone. Your ability to take a deeper dive into farming decisions made in past growing seasons has never been easier! • See how different populations or varieties performed in a selected area • Remove headlands when evaluating field trials • Review how tillage affected yield in an area of the field • Look back at past conservation practices – tiling or terraces in a selected zone to see how they affected the crop performance To get started, select two work operations or map layers to compare in Field Analyzer Beta, such as yield and as planted rate. Make sure the independent variable such as yield in this case, is selected as the first operation. Then use the standard simple drawing tools located above the map legend to draw a zone around an area

For a better fleet management Operations Center mobile shows instantly whether the equipment is working, idle, or in transport mode under the “Active Equipment” list. To know exactly what is happening in the field there is a new green pulsing light in the Home tab.
Improvements to Work Detail Cards Track what is happening out in the field, with the recently improved work details under the map. Select a field in the map tab and easily access field summaries. For harvest work, view field details, such as work progress work completed and remaining hectares, work totals with total yield and total wet weight, moisture, average yield, and variety information.
Compare how machines and technology are being used throughout the busy season! With this update, there is even more information to view to help you understand how your operators are using the technology on your machines. This data is available to add to a custom view, from the View menu, select “Add new view”. Then create a name for the new view and use the search box to find the information to include.
Improvements to Equipment Detail Cards On equipment detail cards monitor Equipment performance, Utilization and Work history of machines, highlighted in bold or with a bar chart to give you all information that you need about your machines. In the John Deere Operations Centre on the web keep up to date with your team in almost real-time locations on the map. Your machines that are equipped with 4G MTGs update their location every 5 seconds.

07723 466995 METHOS WEATHER STATIONS Application Optimisation System (AOS) The METOS AOS ISOBUS (Application Optimisation System) supports the farmer or contractor in his plant protection work in real time. It monitors the spraying weather conditions and logs real-time weather data like temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction on the ISOBUS terminal. Unlike other systems, the METOS AOS delivers precise near real time data of the wind conditions and potential drift risk combined with the DeltaT value directly into the cab of the operator on the display terminal and at the same time it can be viewed by a farm manager on their mobile app via Bluetooth connection. Spray quality assessment (weather before, during and after the spray) is very important for all stakeholders (multinationals, farm chemical dealers and farmers) in the whole value chain as process/work control. Close monitoring of chemical/pesticide drift is increasingly important to prove that all applications have been executed with proven state-of-the-art technologies in real time. With METOS AOS ISOBUS you can now provide your spray diaries with additional proof of actual in-field weather parameters on the applied fields.

TURNING INFORMATION INTO PROFITS The data allows the operator to make more accurate decisions in the field in real time, making product application decisions based on location specific data. The operator can also input his own spraying parameters into the system and receive notifications when the present conditions are outside these pre-set parameters. An added benefit is that it informs the operator of the sprayer about the actual weather situation. This information is used to adapt driving speed, water amount and nozzle type to the actual vapour pressure deficit (VPD), DeltaT and the wind speed and direction. On sprayers with ISOBUS Terminal and GNSS receiver the sensor connects via cable to this terminal and displays the actual data. If thresholds are over or under a certain threshold it will displays warnings and alerts. If it is used without ISOBUS terminal it can connect to the mobile phone of the operator and uses the GNSS of the phone to correct speed and direction. The ISOBUS terminal and the mobile APP enable the data download to document the weather situation during spraying.

ORGANIC POTATO HARVESTER UTILISES RVT PRECISION TECHNOLOGY
RVT Precision will be following a field with Alastair Heath, at James Heath & Sons, Shropshire, through to harvest to understand the benefits John Deere precision technology can bring.
John Deere precision technology is being utilised on a Grimme Varitron with weigh scales to monitor yield of each variety during potato harvest at T.C. & N. Taylor Ltd Organic Farms, Shrewsbury. At planting the varieties are mapped and uploaded to the harvester. Using a SF6000 receiver and 4640 display, with weigh scales on the potato conveyor, the harvester can collect data on the potato variety, tonnage, work out the average yield and each seed can be traced back to the planter.
They have been direct drilling winter wheat, watch the video on the RVT you tube channel to see how variable rate plans created in John Deere Operations Centre can be used with a John Deere ISOBUS ready 750A direct drill for precision drilling of variable controlled seed rates and variable rate application of a liquid ‘P’ release. Watch out for more videos in the Spring during spray application. The generated map will be used to compare to the yield map at harvest.

RVT DEMO JOHN DEERE M732i SPRAYER WITH 24M BOOM 3200 L tank volume 400 L rinse tank 280 L/min pump capacity Sprayer control with multi functional lever (Joystick) HYDRAULIC PUMP OPTION The hydraulic pump drive option replaces the standard PTO drive shaft with a heavy-duty hydraulic motor to drive the piston diaphragm pumps. Eliminating the PTO drive shaft makes attachment to the tractor significantly easier, eliminates the costs associated with replacing worn or damaged PTO shafts, and reduces regular maintenance, as daily greasing of the pump drive is no longer required. As the pump speed is controlled independently from the tractor engine rpm, operators can reduce engine speed during filling, spraying, and rinsing with reductions in fuel consumption and noise. The hydraulic pump drive option also includes an over speed protection for the sprayer pumps. In combination with correct setup of the tractor SCV, this feature protects the pumps from premature wear or damage through accidental over speeding. It also enables operators to run the sprayer pumps during transport, for example, to agitate the solution tank. RINSE CYCLES PERFORMED FROM THE CAB M724(i), M732(i), and M740(i) Trailed Sprayers feature the same 400-L (105.6-gal.) onboard clean water tank, allowing full rinsing and dilution to be completed in the field. With the optional hydraulically driven AutoDilute pump, it is possible to perform different 2016
TerrainControl Pro automatically maintains a level boom and a constant spray height above the crop on uneven ground and in changing crop conditions, resulting in an effective deposition of spray liquid and less dissipated chemicals, better crop penetration, and reduced spray drift. Ultrasonic sensors mounted at each end of the boom measure the height of the boom wings above the target. If the slope of the field changes and the spray boom is no longer at the desired distance to the ground or crop surface, TerrainControl Pro controls the boom tilt and height automatically. The boom sensors used for TerrainControl Pro are purposefully designed for agricultural spray boom levelling applications. They incorporate both an ultrasonic height measuring sensor and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) capable of measuring chassis or axle movements in addition to boom height. For MY22 machines a new feature called Contactless Steering is launched which removes the need for a steering mechanism between the tractor and sprayer, instead it uses the GPS receiver to calculate the sprayer position and adjust the steering automatically.

Two drawbar steering cylinders are automatically controlled by a potentiometer or mounted on the drawbar. The potentiometer measures the angle between the tractor and the drawbar. The sprayer controller operates the proportional hydraulic valve to accurately steer the drawbar in such a way that the wheels of the sprayer follow directly in the tractor tracks. Manual steering is possible as well.

EXOLUM CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE DAY The Off Road Test The Isuzu All-New D-Max is not only a well designed truck for the road but with the high power of the 1.9 turbo diesel engine it also has impressive off road abilities, therefore in the afternoon Exolum drivers tested the vehicles on the 4x4 off road driving experience at FoxTrax, Hodnet by kind permission of Mike Fox. The hill decent and four wheel drive was tried on the steep grassy banks with stunning views looking out across the north Shropshire countryside. In this environment you could see and feel the D-Max difference. The D-Max features a strengthened ladder chassis with under body protection, a fast engaging shifton-the-fly 4WD system and rear diff lock. They drove through the bumpy muddy rutted tracks in the woodland where the high ground clearance certainly helped the Isuzu tackle the course. The Isuzu also features electronic steering and a 800mm wading depth.
In November members of Exolum visited RVT Isuzu to find out more about what RVT Isuzu Commercial Vehicles have to offer their business, from support of the workshop, parts supply, through to the All-NEW D-Max Pick-ups, on and off road capabilities. Testing the intelligence safety system The day kicked off with presentations and a demonstration of the intelligence ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist System) in these pick-ups, it helps drivers stay alert to there surroundings to prevent and reduce accidents. Isuzu pick-ups also have Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking that will brake before a collision occurs. A foam wall was built for drivers to test out this system. With an Isuzu Trained Specialist, drivers drove towards the wall at speed and the Isuzu automatically engaged the Autonomous Emergency Breaking.
CPL Flatbed Conversions Isuzu pick ups are very versatile and can be modified to many different commercial requirements. CPL showcased the Isuzu pickup flat bed conversions with a CPL Cherry Picker on an Isuzu and an Isuzu that was converted with a Chip Tipper to carry and tip forestry wood chip. Simon Pearson, CPL Sales, demonstrated the features of each conversion and explained the many optional specifications available. A CPL Isuzu pick-up conversion is more a luxurious workman’s tool.

ADAS also has a Smart Duo Cam that can judge distances and identify obstacles, a Rear Radar to monitor the distance from vehicles approaching and this will warn the operator of any potential collisions and Lane Departure Warning that alerts the driver to correct the path of the vehicle if the pick up is about to veer out of the lane. The Turn Assist monitors the opposing traffic when turning and will help with breaking for a smooth turn and the Adaptive Cruise Control detects the vehicle in front and will automatically adjust the speed to keep a safe distance. Another great feature is at night the Automatic High Beam will automatically adjust the light setting to low beam when it detects an on coming vehicle ahead. Overall, ADAS gives the driver the confidence and safety during their driving experience.
Gearmate The Gearmate draw system, available in all Isuzu pick-ups, was showcased by Jonathan Moberley, Gearmate Sales. These lightweight aluminium, lockable robust draws are ideal to keep a workmans tools safe and organised. Jonathan demonstrated how the draws extend 100% so that tools are easily accessible. Draws and shelving units can be designed and made to customers requirements.
