From the General Manager by Travis Dale
The July 4
holiday celebration is just around the corner. Please plan to join us for this Pine Lake tradition. Our team has an amazing, fun filled day planned for you and your family to enjoy as we celebrate America! th
Congratulations to the Pine Lake Piranhas on a fantastic season. Our team did an amazing job. We had almost 100 swimmers. The Piranhas had an undefeated season and won the league. We could not do this without all of the parents and volunteers that make our swim team possible. A big thank you to Coach Ken Konstanty and his assistant coaches. Mark your calendar for a mid-year membership meeting. We will present a financial snap shot of the year to date, discuss our current membership level, and provide a capital project update. The meeting will take place in the Ballroom on Friday, July 15th at 6pm. The club will provide complimentary hors d’ oeuvres, wine and beer after the meeting. We encourage you to join us for this informative event. The membership has done a great job with introducing Pine Lake Country Club to your friends. You have forwarded your marketing material to them, brought them to the club, and have let them experience just how special your club truly is. We are happy to announce we have 37 new Pine Lake member families for 2016. Please continue to market your club! My team and I look forward to seeing you at the club! Sincerely,
Travis

From the President by Gene Lee
Dear Fellow Members, I hope everyone has started to enjoy the summer season. The golf course is in great shape. Let’s all thank Richard McDanel and his crew for providing us with one of the best courses in Charlotte. Congratulations to the Pine Lake Piranhas swim team. They are undefeated and the league champions. A big thanks goes out to Ashle Basden and all of the parents who help make this season a big success. The board is compiling the most updated information regarding the lounge renovation project, of which will be presented at the upcoming midyear membership meeting. The board would like to thank Judy Turnage and all that were involved in updating our ball room restrooms. If you have not had a chance to stop by the ball room, please do and check out the freshly painted and up dated restrooms. I want to remind everyone that we will be having our mid-year membership meeting on Friday July 15. At which time the board of directors will bring everyone up to date on the club financials, and several projects that are going on at the club. The club will be sending out more detailed information regarding the membership meeting. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. Last I would like to remind everyone the 4th of July is approaching. Please plan to spend your day at the club. We will have various activities for everyone’s enjoyment, topped off by a spectacular fireworks display after dark. I hope to see you and your family there. Have a happy and safe 4th.

We
have experienced a string of ninety degree temperatures already this season. Bermudagrass thrives as soil temperatures increase and has the playing conditions in great shape. Now all we need is some rainfall to further enhance conditions.
sod will also be installed as needed throughout the course. We have 10K sq. ft. booked, which is approximately the size of two putting greens. The focus will be areas of concentrated play and some remaining cart path edges. This project is scheduled for the second week of July.
The greens recovered quickly from the June aerification, and seem to be handling the heat well. Soil temperatures usually peak around the third week in July and stress the bentgrass well into August. We use spiking often, to allow oxygen to enter the soil profile and harmful gases escape.
The hedge at Lebanon Rd. was neglected last year, due to the installation of two acres of sod along the cart path edges. We were able to finish the pruning in June, as man hours allowed, and are glad to have that project behind us.
The bunker sand replenishing is complete. It should firm soon with some normal rainfall events. A few areas surrounding the sand will be sodded. Bermudagrass
Enjoy your Independence Day!
