The 1st May Class is in the city because of its location, not because of its structure. It is not a city street. It is the periphery. No one wants to spend time on the periphery. We are confident that cosmetic treatments will not help. Only redefining the space and recreating the street line and making a person's scale on 1st May Class make sense. The 1st May Class, like the whole city, is tempted to be seen as a region south and north of the lane that cuts the city with its extravagance. In such a vision, the northern part becomes constricted between the watchtowers and the downhill goggles is almost insoluble. In addition, the buildings on this street are so heterogeneous that they can not be connected to it, except for the part at the mouth of the street where the town houses are still standing. These circumstances lead us to put emphasis on the internal coherence of the proposed structure in the proposal. In this way we want to consolidate this diluted street without any clear continuity. Since it is a great whole, it is necessary to pay attention to the diversity of places with different character, life in all its forms.

erasmus Apartment building Andres PĂľime

with: Katrin Lang

Our residence is a center of living and social life in the peninsula of Kopli, Northern part of Tallinn. The building has underground parking for all citizens of the residence. In the first floor there are commercial zones, such as shops and caffeteries. There is also located open-air cinema and walkway in glazed atrium. In the eastern part there are apartments with their own gardens. Second and third floor are typical living floors, where are 3-4 room apartments located. On the fourth and fifth floor loft apartments take place, some of them have roof terraces and some of them atrium balconies. Idea of the residence was to make a place in the quarter, where all the aspects of life would be balanced. Construction of building in underground floor is monolithic reinforced concrete, in aboveground floors reinforced concrete with white sheet metal or wooden coverings. White sheet metal is used to cover all walls and roofs. Atrium, balconies and terraces are covered with wooden planks.
