ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD
SMOKE AND MIRRORS
INDEX
SMOKE AND MIRRORS The project is a proposal to replace the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysees. In search to propose a new self-camouflaging malware propagation system the project explores the nature of transparency, reflections and glossiness, aiming to create an architecture that overcomes shortcomings in the current generation of metamorphic formalism and specifically to produce nonphenomenological ethereal masses of architecture While working with just a few sympotoms in particular the project ultimately explores for a potential architectural expression(s) of a contemporary neo formal transparency/ reflectivity. Through using very precise digital techniques, multiple ontologies are created through the stitching of architecture pieces and different level of motion transparency, reflections and shininess.

ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD Artist’s Apartment and Studio - Secession House, Vienna Surfaces to Flowers, Masses to Flesh We argue that the mismatches between architectural conventions for space and the multiplicity of biosociologial realities are severe. This project explores other possibilities by attempting to accommodate one particular, highly idiosyncratic formal tissue condition that is entirely unsuited to a conventional exhibition space. Using the historical frame of a city with the tradition of surface decoration of Vienna All That Glitters is gold explores the predominant effect of this ‘isomorphism’ being the aggregation of diverse forms of design intelligence into an almost universal condition of image production. Perhaps some might see this as a triumph of superficiality over depth, but it’s certainly also an intensification of the conjectural and fictive logics of design. We see this as a real and complex demand that global network culture makes on producers of architectural content.

GUGGENHEIM HELSINKI
(Professional work)
The role of an Art Museum is not just to be a museum, but a beacon of culture and society, It’s achievements and aspirations. It represents a city, a country, a history and a future. This proposal for the Guggenheim Helsinki’s museum has the aspiration to be a permanent seismographer of society and its culture and as such architecture can be updated revisited modified. Permanence tells us less about architecture and more about society’s self-image of permanence even if they are not. But really even then, and this should limit to some extent what we mean with our proposal here; we find it limiting and rigid when we are presented with a complete piece, building or city. So we would take an incomplete project approach, this project need to be complete by the city of Helsinki and it’s habitants, the people, it’s culture, the urban tissue. The collection of exhibition wood masses and the glass boxes, which surround them, are part of this notion of architecture. They are perhaps what the architectural idea is at this point. What is captured is time itself being tracked. Maybe that is why the internal masses work; because they captures architecture the way we really see it, which is partial and distracted.
