RARE INI TIATIVE
Officially launched on 17th October 2015, Rare Initiative is a local label offering consumers quality, minimalist and edgy items specially curated for their shopping pleasure. Current collections include Unstallation and Spring Essentials 2016, with apparel for the young adult woman designed and produced locally by our in-house designer; and Sticks and Stones, with tech accessories for all focused on structure and textures of semi-precious stones like graphite and marble. Till date, Rare Initiative has made its way onto the stage of charity fashion show Slightly Scarlet 2015 and discussions are underway to bring its pieces into the stores of renowned local designers.
Un.stallation Our first collection, titled Unstallation which is a portmanteau of the English word Installation and French word Un, literally translates to mean Installation One. Unstallation is inspired by the whirlwind of emotions one goes through after a period of hiatus. In the rediscovery of self, there comes stretches of introspection and reflection tinged with hope and a recognisable vulnerability. The Rare Initiative woman is brazen and vulnerable synchronously, with a quiet, sweeping calmness dilated with meaning. Unstallation aims to encapsulate the modern woman while offering a peek into her soul. This collection explores the colour palette of grey, blue and orange in the different mediums of cotton, faux suede and leather. The motif of circles incorporated in the designs suggests infinite wholeness. All pieces of this collection are designed and produced locally by our in-house designer.

Since it’s inception, it has launched 3 main collections and 1 mini capsule collection- the recent anime collection being featured in Singapore Fashion Week 2016.The brand focuses on creating street luxe statement pieces and is well known for its signature bomber jackets. CHI CHI VON TANG has a flagship boutique at Scotts Square and the brand is also stocked at TANGS departmental store. Founder Lisa Von Tang’s inspiration for the brand - Asia’s diverse design heritage and her vision of real, beautiful and badass women.
This collection is inspired by the tribal women of Myanmar. Designer, Lisa Von Tang, explored the Burmese countryside, and found four tribes, the Kayah, Kayan Paduang, Pa-O, and Long Necks. She spent the most time with the Kayah women, who invited her into their bamboo huts, dressed her up in their traditional dress, and shared their way of life. The Burma collection draws on the pride, purity and strength conveyed in the tribal dress, and is produced in luxurious silks, cupros, highly textured linens and leather.

MENS & KIDS BOMBERS The signature warrior bombers were made available in different colourways for kids and men. I managed the orders placed for the mens bombers in 3 colourways- camo, oriental navy and black blue brocade as well, as the order for the kids bombers in 5 colourways. Manufacturing was done in Hong Kong and China, and I was in charge of sourcing for potential long term manufacturers as well as overseeing the communication, sampling and production for the bomber jackets. The mens bombers were well received mainly by the affluent western male customers and local creatives who embrace statement outerwear. It has been spotted on celebrities like Mr Mickey and Mick Jagger.
