This project is an outdoor space designed specifically to practice yoga, individually and as a group. The design focuses on two concepts of yoga, the circle and the three energetics. In yoga the circle represents wholeness, enlightenment. The energetics are three specific methods to practice yoga. Bramana is energizing, Samana is balancing, and Langhana is calming. Each of the canopied platforms is designed specifically for one energetic. The individual designs are primarily differentiated by how the senses are stimulated in that location.
Bramana : Energizing
The Bramana platform is designed to heighten the senses, the Langhana platform muffles the senses, and the Samana platform is a balance of the two opposing energetics. The canopies are designed to imitate natural tree cover. Using yoga methodology as inspiration, the structures use minimally processed materials found in the local environment. They use the same basic structure to cover each platform, with curated changes in canopy transparency and ceiling height.
