Your Wheel of Wisdom! WOW!

Ever had the misfortune of driving when one of your car wheels came off? I have! Definitely NOT a fun experience and one that I had to adjust to and remedy immediately! BUT, how often do the wheels ‘come off’ in some area of our life and we just keep patching things up and enduring the bumpy ride?

Well, guess what? It’s a new year and what a great time to give our most important vehicle of all, OUR LIFE, a tune-up and ensure it is perfectly road worthy for 2021!

Here is a simple diagram and explanation for just ONE way to analyse your current situation and take back control and design the life you want for this new year.

Like any good wheel – it needs a NUT to keep it attached to the rest of the vehicle! That ‘nut’ is YOU! You control the outcomes in your life so take back your power and choose decisions, actions and people who will support you to become the best version of yourself and live the life of your dreams.

Communication is the ‘grease’ that will keep your wheel components turning smoothly so it is critical to examine how you speak to yourself, what questions you ask of yourself and note the bias of those questions; e.g. are those questions designed to elicit solution-focused answers?

To simplify things, look at three areas that affect our mind, body and spirit – nutrition, exercise and rest. We need to wholesomely ‘feed’, adequately exercise and restoratively rest each of these areas.

Ask yourself the following types of questions in relation to each of these areas and how they affect your mind, body and spirit and write down your answers.

• Why do I want to change and grow?

• Who can support me? Who is the ‘version of me’ I want to become?

• What actions do I need to take? What habits do I need to break/create? What toxic people/events/ actions do I need to let go of?

• When will I carry out these actions?

• Where will I find these people? Where will I carry out these actions?

• How soon will I do this? How will I make this happen? How do I feel about this?

As you proceed with these tasks, also ask yourself, how can I BOOST the wellbeing of my mind or body or spirit and what can I add to or subtract from my ‘Wisdom Toolkit’? This will be the ‘air in your tyres’ and I’m sure we all know a smooth ride depends on our tyre pressure!
