Have you ever stared blankly into a mirror and not really ‘seen’ what you are looking at? Well, try this!

Take a pen and a journal to the bathroom. Stand in front of your mirror and spray window cleaner onto it. Watch as your patches of misty cleanser hide your image. Observe portions of your face reappear as the froth subsides and rivulets dribble down to the bottom edge.

What do you see now? Feel into this and look for parallels in your emotional state.

Jot down your responses as you ask yourself questions such as:

• Who do I see?

• How do I feel about what I see? What emotions bubble up?

• Am I hiding parts of myself? Are there parts of me that I haven’t fully expressed?

• Is this physical distortion actually reflecting my inner state?

Next, take a clean cloth and lightly wipe away the cleaning fluid. Notice how your image is slightly smudged and still not totally clear.

Remember, questions are the KEY!

Observe your expressions, listen in to your feelings and note any areas you would like to improve as you now ask yourself:

• Do I really KNOW who I am or what I WANT or am I looking at me through the biased eyes of others or the shackled lens of ‘shoulds’?

• What is my purpose on this earth?

• What brings me JOY?

• How DO I want to FEEL as I move through every day?

Next, rub the mirror vigorously until it sparkles and your face is clearly illuminated.

Now, think of something that fills you with joy and beam your beautiful smile into that mirror and allow the person in the reflection to truly capture your warmth, your hopes and your dreams!

Ahhh – there YOU are!!!! The true reflection of YOU just emerged!

Imprint this image on your mind, your heart and your soul and pledge to act on your promptings TODAY to allow your magnificence to shine brightly – not only for you, but as a beacon of hope for those around you!

(To further enhance this practice, I use doTERRA essential oils to address the emotions that come up during the exercise and integrate them into my daily rituals and journalling to facilitate healing.)
