Dear Readers, December 21st has come and gone and we all know that the world was not doomed to end as some people had believed. Instead, we are given yet another fresh start, full of hope, peace and new possibilities. We are ready to celebrate and embrace the arrival of another new year and to look forward to the future! While in celebration, we can't help but wonder what the year 2013 will bring. In review of yesteryear, we learned that the industry has changed to a great extent. As a whole, we have grown despite the difficulties and challenges that we have faced. During our Asia Imaging Forum (Los Angeles) held in December, we were honored to have some of the industry's veterans present on a number of major issues facing our industry today, including a review of 2012 and how we can look towards the future with hope for change. The issues that were discussed will matter to you and the industry as a whole, which is why we have condensed these presentations into this month's Feature Article. Read about the ongoing legal battles with major OEMs, the effect of counterfeit products in our industry, as well as the importance of China's role (especially in regards to toner) on the global market. Asia Imaging Fair-Los Angeles Off to a Good Start by Ms. Sunny Sun, Publisher Recharge Asia's 2012 Asia Imaging Fair-Los Angeles ("AIF-LA") was held recently in beautiful, sunny Southern California. While the Asia Imaging Forum has taken place in Beijing for several years, the inaugural AIF-LA was off to a good start for the remanufacturing community in North America. In this shaky economic climate, where printing volume has been decreasing and our industry has gone through a tough time, people ask Why an Asia Imaging Fair in North America and why now? The answer is simple--true to our mission, Recharge Asia is committed to helping our industry grow. That being said, we hope that through our Asia Imaging Fairs we will in instill a confidence in our industry for continuous growth through capitalizing on opportunities to expand and explore new markets. Media is our specialty. We understand good communication and, what's more, we understand that good communication, and good understanding, can oftentimes produce a win-win partnership in business. The remanufacturing industry is in much need of a new channel of communication between the various sectors in our community--manufacturers/suppliers and distributors/resellers. China has grown to become the second largest economy in the world and a global hub for manufacturing. The U.S., despite the recent recession, has begun a momentum of growth. Since Recharge Asia bridges the East and West, what better place to complement our event already taking place in the East? We aim to develop this platform for the remanufacturing industry because we recognize, as we have since our inception, a need to develop a strong channel to facilitate communication between the two super-regions. The golden time of high profit margins may have left us, but those who have stayed and become more resourceful will continue to evolve and grow into an elite group to lead the industry in the right direction. There are 500+ companies, both large and small cartridges recycling enterprises, located in the greater Los Angeles area. All are actively engaged in buying and selling remanufactured consumables and bringing to market a low-cost alternative to high-priced OEM products. We all need to take advantage of the business opportunities still in the active process of expanding if we are to truly provide quality alternatives to OEM goods. The point is that no matter how advanced the world becomes in this digital age to connect one to another, face-to-face interaction still holds, and will always hold, the key to eventually seal the deal with the desired result. Exhibitions, like the Asia Imaging Fairs, have proven to be effective promotional vehicles for companies to expose their brands and expand their market share. They enable participants to conduct personal, human communication with their target group(s) and engaged with vendors and buyers in a way text or email messages simply cannot. In short, there is no substitute. Asia Imaging Fair-Los Angeles has great unparalleled potential to connect, to engage, to educate, and to grow the remanufacturing community. Competition from Digital Channels is Reshaping the Use of Print Across Ver tical Markets According to InfoTrends Study In today’s new media world, print hasn’t lost its luster, but it is sharing the spotlight with other media forms. According to InfoTrends’ Understanding Vertical Markets: Enterprise Communication Requirements, print will remain a major component of communications spending but it is declining, as firms are shifting dollars to mobile and online/web channels. Print’s future role, the study finds, hinges on its ability integrate with the mobile and online channels. “Print is not disappearing, but its use is declining and its role is changing,” says Steve Adoniou, Director of InfoTrends' Consulting Service. “Competition from digital channels is reshaping the use of print and the production methods to deliver it. Defending prints’ role will require investment in workflow automation enhancements that improve productivity, delivery speed, and cost.” The study surveyed 1,026 enterprise-size corporations across 10 vertical markets (automotive, education, financial services, insurance, government, healthcare, hospitality, retail, manufacturing, utilities) to: • Quantify spending by key application area and media type • Identify sourcing preferences by application and media type • Assess process for selecting providers • Identify strategies and recommendations for business growth by market and application The survey results are supported by 15 in-depth interviews with key communication decision-makers in corporate enterprises across industries studied. “The research study confirms that pursuing a multi-channel communications strategy is important and growing in the corporate enterprise market,” says Lisa Cross, Associate Director of InfoTrends' Business Development Strategies Service. “Its importance is driven by organizations’ need to serve and communicate with customers that have different delivery requirements and preferences.” The study compares findings to a 2006 InfoTrends’ vertical market study on communications trends and reveals that overall, there is a migration in corporate enterprises to using print and electronic media together--not to exclusively using one form in lieu of the other. Survey respondents reported that 47% of printed marketing materials were linked to online digital channels in past 12 months, indicating that firms understand the value in combining print and electronic media. AsiaPacific Large Format Printer Market Fell Sequentially and Annually in 2012 Q3 SOURCE:IDC IDC's results show that the Large Format Printer (LFP) market in the Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APEJ) region declined 12.9% sequentially, and 12.2% year-onyear in 2012 Q3 to reach about 14,000 units, the lowest since year 2010. Most of the countries were largely impacted by the uncertainties of the global economy during the quarter, except for Thailand and Malaysia that managed to experience some growth, which was driven by the infrastructure development plan by the Thai Government, and a strong vendor-driven activity that boosted the channels sales in Malaysia. The technical market dropped 10.3% sequentially in 2012 Q3, mainly due to a drastic dip in Australia and India markets. The construction and manufacturing industries' performance in Australia and India have been falling for 2 quarters since 2012 Q1, which has caused businesses to become very vigilant and more tensed with a lower business confidence that resulted in a decelerated market. On the other hand, the graphic market fell 14.8% from 2012 Q2 to 2012 Q3. Most of the Asia/Pacific countries were facing a decline or pretty stagnant market. The demand on graphic printings such as banners for elections and signage for retail outlets are still increasing, however, due to the economic slowdown, most of the graphic print service providers have been conservative on their budget, and holding back their spending in purchasing or changing their large format printers. "As comparing to the shipment during global financial crisis in 2008 Q3, we are seeing a slowdown in 2012 Q3. Nevertheless, moving forward, we expect the overall market to start picking up with a healthier growth in the next 4 quarters, as there will be stimulus fund from the government in developing countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand for the on-going implementation of infrastructure projects," says Sharon Cheng, Market Analyst of Asia/Pacific Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions Research at IDC.

The Top 10 Ways to Appeal to the Asian Email Marketing Customer By Curt Keller Many online marketers of digital print technology and consumables to the AsiaPacific region may be operating under the assumption that with the onset of globalization and the widespread increased fluency in English, their email marketing strategies can be implemented in a manner identical to the “way it’s done” in the United States or United Kingdom. In fact, there are very clear differences in the preferences of Asian email readers which vary considerably from their counterparts in other regions of the planet, and the savvy online marketer is well aware of these variances and how best to approach this specific geographical customer. 1. Hard sell equals no sell – There is a school of marketing thought which teaches that the harder you hit a customer, the faster and more frequently they will proceed to checkout. This is a fallacy regardless of where you’re engaging in email marketing, but nowhere more than in the Asia-Pacific region. The culture of respect and restraint is strong among the vast majority of the cultures which make up the patchwork of Asia, and your customers will not react well to hype, hard sell, and overwhelming frequency of email sends. Demonstrate to your customers how your company and products can fulfill a need, and show them how they can derive additional value through dealing with your business, while framing the entire conversation in a coherent application of respectful deference and utter courtesy… and you will have gone a long way towards capturing the attention and loyalty of the Asian customer. 2. Show that you’re here to stay – The Asian customer has a very low tolerance for flash in the pan companies which appear

out of nowhere to make a quick buck and then disappear, taking their laughable socalled warranties with them. The solidity and reputation of your company has an inordinate effect on convincing the Asian customer base to trust you with their digital print technology and consumables investment, so pack your email marketing newsletters with real testimonials from leading and respected corporate clients, and stress that you’ve been in business for many years and operate under the ethical framework which will ensure that you are in business for many years to come. 3. Localize your entire marketing strategy – The United States is composed of fifty states, but essentially they are “states” in name only. Although there is a measure of notable regional differences from state to state and the customer in Maine is quite different from the customer in Hawaii, it is still a very homogenous region and it can be approached in a more or less universal marketing strategy as opposed to Asia as a whole. The wealth of different languages, customs, and geography has a marked effect on the way that each Asian state’s c u s t o m e r i n t e r p re t s yo u r m a rk e t i n g approaches. Although many major brands very successfully deal with the USA as a unified whole, taking that same approach to the Asian market is a recipe for disaster. Learn the unique qualities of each of the Asian countries where you’re marketing your particular digital print technology and consumables, and cater your email strategy to fit. 4. Speak their language – An integral part of localization is to approach your customer in their language, not necessarily yours.

English is a superlative “second language” to use in your marketing messaging throughout Asia, but the local language should almost always be the prevailing local one. It is crucial to remember that there is no automatic technology that can produce adequate translation services, so ensure that each and every word that you are translating into another language is written by a professional and experienced human, not computer, translator. 5. Keep an eye on the clock – First thing in the morning in one part of Asia is the middle of the night in another, so time your email messaging to arrive in the inbox of your customers at the proper time in their specific time zone. An email newsletter which arrives at 9:30 a.m. is going to be seen in a completely different light by your customer than one that plops in at 4:30 a.m.! 6. Keep an eye on the calendar – Each country in Asia has a different schedule of national and regional holidays, so don’t expect that you’ll attract throngs of turkeysated post-Thanksgiving customers to

Islamic countries also tend to have Friday be their “Sunday” so take the time and make the effort to understand the calendar rhythms of each of the Asian countries in order to derive an email schedule which does not approach your customer on a date when their attention is focused on aspects other than business. 7. Consider the diaspora – There are a number of Asian nations where a considerable proportion of the population is first generation emigration from other nationalities both within Asia and outside of it. In the countries where you have a disproportionate number of customers from other citizenships and cultures, it is imperative that you take that aspect into clear consideration. There are some nations where there is an effective split between primary population groups, so it becomes necessary to cater to each group in a manner coherent to the way you are approaching their home country, not necessarily their adopted one. 8. There’s no one-size-fits-all in Asian social media – Social media marketing is fairly straightforward in the United States. Your B2C social network is Facebook, your B2B one is LinkedIn, and your microblog is Twitter. That universality completely breaks apart when applied to the Asian social media model where the popularity of each of those sites can vary wildly across borders. Embrace weibos and the rest of the uniqueness of the Asian social media sphere and show your customers that you care enough to present a social networking presence on the sites which are their national favorites, not just the pan-Asian or global ones. 9. Steer clear of religion – Some major brands in the USA make a point of highlighting that they adhere to “Christian values” and adorn their email marketing missives with related theological imagery. By far the best way to approach the Asian customer is to not ever touch upon the topic of religion in any way, as the Asia-Pacific region is a patchwork quilt of beliefs and no matter which one your embrace, it may be seen in an unfavorable way by adherents to different religions. Keep your approach strictly secular and you’ll stand a far better chance of earning your Asian customers' business. 10. Risque is no way – It seems with every passing year the attractive models in many hero shots end up wearing less and less clothing, and the entire marketing pitches become more risqué. There are some email marketing missives by major brands which integrate headlines and subject matter which should be rated R (if not X outright). Titillating your customer is especially frowned upon in Asian cultures where modesty and traditional family values are generally revered to a far greater degree than in the United States and most of Europe. The cliché of Sex Sells will likely have a negative effect on your email marketing in Asia, so feel free to keep your overall promotional approach entertaining, but don’t fall into the gutter trap of crossing the line into blatant semi-nudity, overly suggestive poses, and back alley double entendres. Print vs. Non-Print InfoTrends Analyzes the True Cost of Business Communications Producing and distributing documents involves many processes which include a combination of tangible, “hard” costs (printing, shipping, storing materials, etc.) and other less tangible, “soft” costs (composition, design, editing, project management, etc.). Companies of all sizes need to understand all these related costs to manage their businesses effectively. InfoTrends’ study, The True Cost of Business Communications, compares and examines the costs associated with outsourcing and doing the work internally as well as provides key considerations to what the outsourcing print should be. InfoTrends has found that nonprint costs are typically higher than actual print costs in environments where older methods are used for producing, purchasing, creating, and managing printed documents. However, the ratio of print costs to non-print costs varies dramatically depending on the quantity that is being printed. InfoTrends recommends that companies conduct a thorough analysis of internal work processes that are involved for the most common documents that get produced. They should then quantify the internal and external expenses to create, produce, and distribute these documents on an annual basis. “Companies should determine the level of savings that could be achieved by outsourcing to the right service provider," says Steve Adoniou, Director of InfoTrends’ Consulting Group. “They should consider one who not only could save money on printing and related services through operational efficiency gains, but could also provide services beyond printing to reduce the costs of non-print related activities by delivering improved and consistent product quality, quicker turnaround times, and enhanced performance to service level agreements (SLAs).” Regardless of whether someone is printing just one or over a thousand pieces of a certain document, the costs associated with non-print activities and services is significant. Consumer Confidence Holds Steady as Printer Sales Dip in 3Q 2012 Source: IDC The overall multi-function printer (MFP) and single-function printer (SFP) market experienced a severe decline of 25.5% in 3Q 2012 after it showed some positive indication of recovery in the previous quarter. The market registered a total of 249,563 units shipped in 3Q 2012 as compared to 334,923 units in the previous quarter. Out of the overall total, inkjet MFP and SFP registered a total of 166,504 units followed by laser MFP and SFP with 72,589 units and finally Serial Dot Matrix (SDM) with 10,470 units shipped. (Refer to figure 1 for percentage share) The inkjet MFP and SFP market was affected most by the slowdown as majority of the inkjet MFP and SFP are consumer based models. The inkjet MFP market registered a QoQ decline of 31.1% registering 136,893 units and inkjet SFP suffered a decline of 40.0% with a total market size of 29,611 units. On the other hand, the laser MFP market also recorded a decline of 19.7% on a QoQ basis with a total of 23,886 units shipped. However, the laser SFP market experienced some growth on a QoQ basis of 4.6% with a total of 48,703 units shipped in 3Q 2012. Donovan Low, Associate Market Analyst for IDC's Imaging, Printing and Document Solutions research in Malaysia, says "The printer market has been hit hard by certain factors especially the slower government spending on printer hardware as well as the shift in consumer spending to other products like mobile devices and tablets which has seen growth in recent times". "Business confidence has also reported to have declined as most vendors are now seeing less large scale tenders as before. On top of that the global economic woes have taken their toll and there is the ongoing uncertainty which continues to linger", adds Low. The last three months of the year will be particularly slow for the printer market as traditionally it is a holiday period and m o s t o f consumer savings will Figure 1 be spent elsewhere. "The uncertainty is set to trickle down to private sector and consumer spending on printers as the market can expect several gloomy months ahead. In addition, the contraction of the global economy will likely decrease the overall spending and increase concerns", adds Low. Considering all these factors, IDC expects a slight decline of 2.0% for the rest of 2012.

CEO on the Go: Zheng Gongli, Hueway Technology Q: When did you start your consumables business? Which products were you involved in at the beginning? A: Hue Way Technology has been involved in the printing consumables business since 2003. We mainly focused on ink cartridges, toner, ribbon and related printing consumables. Q: Could you please briefly introduce Mr. Zheng's personal experience? A: Mr. Zheng came from a poor background and migrated to the South with nothing. Like many youths under 20 years old, Mr. Zheng Gongli took his simple baggage along with his dream to Shenzhen's Special Economic Zone in 1999. He started at the basic level, and worked through many hard times. In 1999, he worked as a warehouse porter and then became a salesman for a printing company by chance the following year. With the tenacity of a young man, he shuttled to and from every corner of Huaqiang North Road on a daily basis to distribute promotional materials, perform shipping tasks, collect receivables, and soon became a top salesman in the company. With his excellent performance and diligence, he earned his first pot of gold in life. Then, he founded Hue Way Technology in 2003. Using e-commerce to build a strong foreign trade platform: During 2003, the demand for printing consumables was largely increased. Many domestic suppliers rushed into the domestic market and hundreds of different brands surfaced. It seemed to be a good market situation but Mr. Zheng thought differently. He firmly believed that the good opportunities were laying in the foreign oversea market, rather than in the fluctuating domestic market. Then, the Hue Way team began paying more attention to the Internet's networking platform and strengthening their cooperation with all the different e-commerce networking platforms. For the next several years, they invested a big amount of money in keyword ranking and enlarging their sales team. Now, the e-commerce trade platform is considered as the top one or two platforms in the industry. Hard work and proud results: After several years of hard work, Hue Way Technology has developed into an integrated group, both in production and trade. The production base is located in Shenzhen, with the domestic sales headquarter located in the famous, beautiful building -- "CEO Enterprise Avenue" in Tower C,14E. Hue Way has several distribution partners in foreign countries including a branch office and a central transit warehouse in Dubai along with an elite sales team for expanding into the overseas market. Hue Way has also established a few domestic MPS print outsourcing service departments. In 2013, they plan to expand with more branch offices and warehouses in foreign countries. Stability and diversification: While pursuing printing supplies as their primary business in the beginning half of 2011, Hue Way also focused on developing other areas. For example, they partnered with the Chamber of Commerce of Shenzhen to increase its network members. It has also been involved in poverty alleviation projects via

Merchants Investment in the Mainland. Hue Way Technology was thus awarded the title of Guangdong Province's "Top 10 Network Operators" in the second half of 2011. At the year end network operators conference, Mr. Zheng was also elected as the Chamber of Commerce's Executive Vice President of the Shenzhen network. Q: What are your main products and your market direction? A: At present, the company's main products are the environmentally friendly printing consumables, such as remanufactured toner cartridges and ribbons. The biggest changes during these nine years have been our continuously improved product quality and expanded products line. We are dedicated to providing our clients with one-stop high quality printing services. Our products are sold in 110 countries and regions. We look forward to a win-win situation with our customers. Q: It is not very optimistic for the current global economy. How do you prepare your company to be more market-oriented? A: I believe there is no bad industry, rather, it is the incapable man who cannot make it work. Imagine if you want to become the forefront of the industry, how can your prevent it from developing and changing? Although the global situation has been changed, we need to build our company endogenously and improve own team service. That way, we can bring more choices to our customers. Nowadays, it is a time full of competition, teamwork and cooperation. I firmly believe that the environmentally friendly printing consumables industry would have a bright future. Q: Please tell us how you could offer environmentally friendly products and avoid being involved in patent disputes. A: We earnestly study intellectual property, respect our counterparts’ intellectual property, and understand the rules of the game in the international market. At the same time, we pay much attention to our intellectual property rights protection and adhere to the development of innovative routes. Q: What is your plan for marketing in 2013? A: In 2013, Hue Way Technology will still continue to focus on not only the market in Europe and the emerging BRICS, but also on a few countries in Africa. OKI Launches DICOMEmbedded LED Printer Range in Europe - a First for Medical Imaging and Printing

Simple-to-use LED-based A4 and A3 printers also suited to general office use OKI Data Corporation, an OKI Group company specializing in printer business, launched its new range of DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) embedded printers aimed at the specialist medical imaging market in Europe. OKI is the first company to introduce LED-based print solutions, which are significantly faster, more flexible and cost-effective than existing DICOM solutions based on film or solid ink technologies. DICOM is the primary international standard for the handling, storing, printing and transmission of medical imaging and other related information. A DICOM Print Server is fully embedded in the new OKI A3 and A4 printers, so there is no need for conversion software or external hardware. Medical institutes no longer have to settle for expensive printing on specialist media and devices. Medical images such as x-rays, nuclear medicine, MRI and CT scans and ultrasounds can be printed on a range of media, in High Definition color for nondiagnostic purposes such as medical discussions or for clients or patients to take away. HP Printer Sales on the Decline Being such a big player in the printing industry, it ’s always big news when you hear that Hewlett-Packard’s business is hurting. After all, HP owns 40% of the worldwide market share for printers. According to Federico De Silva, Analyst at Gartner Market Research, while printing is presently still big business, it is slowly declining and he does not see it making a comeback. According to their research, what was once a $50 billion industry worldwide in 2010, will become $47.8 billion by 2014. International Data, another research firm re vealed that printer shipments have dropped 26% in the third quarter, globally. HP’s sales in 2008, was $30 billion globally. By its 2012 fiscal year, sales are at $24.5 billion. But according to Steve Nigro, Senior Vice President at HP, “printing is not going away.” While it may not be the glory days of printing anymore, the company is still optimistic in certain parts of the world where that industry is growing, and they are focusing in those countries. Last October, HP also launched new printer models. Apart from smart phones and tablets, environmental consciousness is also a reason why most people have reduced their printing requirements. Innovative Design The sleek, compact PIXMA Wireless Photo AIO printers has a low-height body to reduce the space needed to open the scanner, and a new paper cassette on the MG6320 and MG5420, as well as on the iP7220, that allows the printers to sit flush against a wall to conveniently fit in a variety of spaces and home offices. Maintaining document security is among the highest priorities of most organizations. Imagine, a printer that allows up to 8 users to wirelessly connect to the internet. Now you can, with the new HP Hotspot LaserJet Pro M1218nfs multi-function printer. As a multi-function, it can print, scan and copy. In addition it is capable of wireless printing through Apple Airprint, HP ePrint, and HP wireless direct. Installation is easy with this printer with HP’s Smart Install where a software is no longer required during the installation process. This printer is targeted for the small office/ home office (SoHo) market. Currently, the HP Hotspot LaserJet Pro is only available in China and India and costs $334. Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Launches New Wide Format Inkjet Printer Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. launches a new wide format inkjet printer, DocuWide C842. Delivering the industry's highest colour output speed of 152.4mm per second and 42-inch wide format capabilities, It meets the needs of the design, advertising, manufacturing, construction, geographic information system (GIS) and other sectors. With its high productivity and quality of 1,600 by 1,600 dots per inch (dpi) output resolution, the DocuWide C842 produces exhibition banners, in-store and backlight displays or large posters, as well as illustrations, perspective drawings, technical document texts and photographs. Optimum image quality is met at identical speeds for different media types ranging from plain, matte coated, glossy or tracing papers to bond, vellum or film. Productivity The DocuWide C842’s fixed line five print head system simultaneously produces fourcolour inks (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black or CMYK) for one-pass printing and output resolution of 1,600 by 1,600 dpi at a print speed of seven A0-sized sheets per minute. The device can handle wide printing up to 42 inches, long-paper printing up to five metres, and large 36-inch posters with register marks for trimming. Fine air bubbles in ink are one of the factors that hinder beautiful image reproduction. The DocuWide C842 is equipped with a newly developed ink circulating system, which eliminates air bubbles and impurities to ensure a consistent print quality. Usability The DocuWide C842's ease of use improves operations and allows businesses to focus on other game - changing areas. The device can be functionally enhanced for network copying with the DocuScan C1500 or DocuWide 6055MF series colour scanners. A maximum of four rolls can be mounted - a 2-inch roll, 3-inch roll and a manual feeder, preparing the DocuWide C842 to meet various printing requirements and minimising the trouble to change paper types every time. Remanufacturing the Samsung ML-1860 Toner Cartridge By Mike Josiah, Technical Director of UniNet Imaging

Mike Josiah Mike Josiah is the Technical Director at UniNet’s East Coast office, a global distributor of toner, Smartchips, OPC drums, and other toner remanufacturing components. Mr. Josiah is an industry veteran since 1987, and a member of ASTM committee F.05, the STMC Technician Certif ication committee, as well as an STMC trainer. He and his support team at UniNet contribute with technical articles to industry trade magazines, and conduct seminars at association meetings and tradeshows worldwide.

First released in May 2011, the Samsung ML-1860 series of printers is based on a 19ppm, 1200 Dpi engine. Other than the toner cartridge, all the other consumables are rated for 30,000 pages. (Fuser, transfer roller, paper pickup rollers). That coincidentally is also the rated life for the printer. It seems Samsung considers these models throw away machines. Figure A shows the basic printer/ cartridge position layout.

These cartridges do not have a built in drum cover, but do come new with a black plastic cover. (See Figure 1) The replacement cartridge it self is rated for 1,500 pages at 5% coverage (ISO 19752). The starter cartridge is rated for 700 pages.

If toner gets on this seal it will not work and the cartridge will leak. It can be replaced with silicon, but it’s easier to just keep it clean by leaving the DB on as long as possible when cleaning. See Figures 21 & 22 It is highly recommended that the Doctor Blade be cleaned. Failure to do so will cause streaking. Dampen a cotton swab with alcohol, and clean the blade. Be careful not to press too hard and damage the blade. If the blade has a heavy buildup of toner on it, clean it with Acetone, and then alcohol.
