In his book, The Future of the Mind, Dr. Michio Kaku, an American physicist and futurist writes that the two greatest mysteries in all of nature are these: the mind and the universe. With today’s vast technology, we have been able to accomplish things only dreamed of decades ago, from getting a glimpse of galaxies billions of light years away to manipulating the very genes that control life.
In the Internet era, we have excitedly uncovered many of life’s mysteries and experience interrup- tions brought by accelerated innovations and technological breakthroughs. While this connectiv- ity has enabled us to be more efficient and produce more profits, it has also made us more depend- able and vulnerable. Security (privacy) has become an integral part of how to keep our increasingly data-driven economy functioning more secure and away from harmful breaches.
