Veach talks taxes, legislative priorities

After serving as a Berlin town councilor for two years, Donna Veach realized there were “limitations on what she could do at a local level.” Seeking to bring bigger changes, Veach ran for a legislative position and in January, was elected to represent the 30th District, which encompasses parts of Berlin and Southington.

Veach is a strong advocate against new taxes and for cutting spending. “With a Republican majority in Berlin, we were able to freeze property taxes here. But on the state level, I feel that the current mindset of raising taxes and adding one new tax after another is detrimental to all of Connecticut,” she said.
