Joann May (Ladd) Sekscenski
KENSINGTON - Joann
May (Ladd) Sekscenski, 77, of Kensington, CT, passed away peacefully Friday, May 19 th at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late Glenn and Beatrice LeClair Ladd, Joann was born in Hartford, CT. She graduated from Portland High School in 1964 and then entered the United States Navy. Before being Honorably discharged, Joann worked as an Aircraft Storekeeper at Quonset Point, Rhode Island, during the Vietnam War. She and her husband Lawrence were together almost forty-two years throughout Joann’s working career. There were two jobs she loved above the rest, working at Middletown Lanes and co-owning J&L Stained Glass with her husband, Lawrence. She was also a certified firefighter for the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department. Joann was known throughout the neighborhood as Mrs. C, always creative making something out of nothing. When the kids were in midget football, Mom made it an event, packing everything you would need for a year. The same could be said about the yearly vacations to the shore every summer. She would pack every pot, pan, clothes and groceries. Joann and Larry traveled to many different states and every town or city visited, she wanted to move there. Besides her parents, Joann was predeceased by her first husband, Wendell Campbell, Sr.; her sister, Glennis Puglisi
