Luminarias light up town for Veteran’s Day On Saturday, Nov. 11, Berlin got to puff its collective chest out, thanks to the local Lions Club as it assembled and set out over 2,300 luminarias, starting at Veterans Park and sprawling all the way along Mill Street, Farmington Avenue and the Worthington Ridge War Memorial Memorial statues at the top of Worthington Ridge. On a brisk but perfectly clear evening,
“We were pleased to get 14 bids for the project,” said architect Brian Humes, who is overseeing the project.

He said that of the 14 bids they received, the best were from Millennium Builders Inc. for $2,524,700, followed by Scope Construction for $2,575,000.

Following the Berlin Town Council unanimously approving an appropriation of $1 million from the city’s general fund and $3.7 million to be bonded for renovations to the Berlin Police Department, the town officially closed the bidding window on October 26 and has received a recommendation.
