Paul’s Clothing to close; owner plans to retire
WILD KINGDOM Cheshire has an abundance of wildlife, no doubt most everyone in town will agree to that. However, Monica Roy’s home just might be a special case. This Cheshire resident seems to have cornered the market when it comes to animal friends. Roy has come out onto her backyard deck to find a roly-poly groundhog sitting on the stairs. In her front yard, Roy took a picture of a deer who appeared to pose at her hanging feeder. Soon after, a family of turkeys dropped by for lunch. Her latest discovery was a friendly raccoon family, who apparently decided to move in under her deck. “I love my neighborhood,” Roy said.

Paul’s Clothing, Cheshire’s iconic men’s store, is closing. Since opening in 1979, it would not be far-fetched to believe that owner Paul Camerato has clothed at least half the town since he first opened the doors. He plans to retire soon and while no specific date for closing the store has been announced, this will likely take place by spring. Camerato’s job, his passion, his lifeblood and livelihood began with his brother Don’s store in Hamden, the town where they both grew up. It was a men’s clothing store, D’Camm Limited.
