The monetary gift is offered annually to the two departments as a way to thank them for services provided to Elim Park throughout the year. As a religiously affiliated organization, Elim Park does not pay taxes to the Town of Cheshire, however, police and fire personnel do respond to emergency calls at the Elim community. The funds are meant to help the departments supplement their operating budgets for the fiscal year. In the past, both departments have used the money to purchase new equipment or fund training programs. — Press Release
