Republicans sweep at-large council seats By Michael Gagne Record-Journal staff

Cheers filled Viron Rondo Osteria Tuesday night, Nov. 5, as Republicans appeared to pull away with a sweep of at-large Town Council seats, and looked poised to take three out of the four Board of Education seats up for election.

“It looks to me like the Republican Party won in a landslide,” said Town Council incumbent Rob Oris Jr., the current chairman, who also appeared to be the front-runner in the race for at-large council seats. In the Council’s Third District race, Republican Party candidate Don Walsh appeared to have ousted

Democratic Party incumbent Jeffrey Falk from the seat. Meanwhile, Democratic Party candidate Jim Jinks appeared poised to take the District Two seat, previously Republican held, in a tight race against his Republican opponent Guy Darter. Thanksgiving — it’s a “love it or nota-fan” holiday. For some it can be a nightmare. The cousins don’t get along, the potatoes are lumpy or you hate turkey, or Uncle Joe starts talking politics — even though Aunt Ginny told him not to. Then again, it also can be a harmonious time where relatives renew their acquaintance, your new stuffing recipe is well-received, or a new baby in the family is introduced.

Thousands of luminaries lit up the town on Saturday, turning Lights of Hope into a glowing vista of goodwill. Now in its 15th year, Lights of Hope has raised nearly $1 million to date.
