LIONS GIVE HOLIDAY HELP The Cheshire Lions Club donated $1,000 in gift certificates, for use at local department stores (Walmart and Target), to the Department of Social Services on Thursday, Dec. 3. The certificates will allow families to purchase toys for their children. Events held by the Cheshire Lions Club, such as the annual Sight Saver Day, Paper Shred Day and its affiliation with the Cheshire Half Marathon Road Race provide the means to fund civic projects, said Membership Chair Anthony Cipriano, Jr. In the photo, from left: Cheshire Lions Club Vice President Nancy De-

When a child is suffering and needs help, it might be surprising to know that sometimes an animal is the best way to connect and help. “Healing the hearts of children, one wagging tail at a time,” is the motto of Soul Friends, an animal assisted Francesco; Kristen Schechter, Town of Cheshire Social Worker; and William Manthey, past Lions District Governor.
