Hot cocoa ‘bombs’ a big trend this holiday season

Businesses in the area have been selling plenty of hot cocoa bombs since this new hot drink concoction went viral on social media earlier this year.

Two new streaming services offered by the library will continue into next year, but their long-term future is unclear.

Hot cocoa bombs are chocolate spheres topped with different flavors and often filled with marshmallows. A “bomb” is placed inside a mug and hot milk or water is poured over it to create a hot chocolate drink with a twist. Cheshire Baking Company sells cocoa bombs out of a local coffee shop, Main St. Caffe. Kristin Raucci, Cheshire Baking Company owner, started making the cocoa bombs last fall. “We can’t keep them in stock. Every single day they sell out,” Raucci said. See Cocoa, A7

Acorn TV and the Great Courses, two audio streaming services available to library cardholders since April, will continue until June, said library Director Beth Crowley, during a library board meeting last week. At the Dec. 22 meeting, Crowley also reported that since July, 146 different programs have been offered online through the library’s website. About 2,000 people have viewed the programs. Crowley added that virtual programming will continue through the winter and spring seasons. The next library board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 18.
