The top Senate Republican accused Democratic lawmakers Tuesday with building a “workaround” provision into the new transportation bill that would allow the General Assembly to expand tolls on large trucks to all other vehicles after two years.
endorsing more borrowing for various initiatives to “buy votes” for tolls. “After two years, we could very well see cars and all trucks tolled in Connecticut without the fear of a bond covenant stopping it,” Fasano said during a late morning press conference. “That could happen.”

Regional Economic Xcelleration Development met with the North Haven Economic Development Commission recently to provide a comprehensive economic report on the town.
The new 25,000-square-foot gym in the Washington Commons plaza on Route 5 was designed by gym-goers and features Precor equipment, hydromassage chairs, saunas, beauty light therapy and exercise classes. “We wanted something where you walk in and you feel calm and you want to do your workout,” said Moruzzi, whose father and partner Joe Moruzzi owns the plaza.

“No great change in anything at this point. Median income has gone up a bit and population has gone down a bit, but no great changes,” she said. One concern Malmberg noted is that the median age in town has continued to rise in the past year. She pointed out that this trend is due to the town not attracting enough young people and families. Another concern raised by Malmberg in her report is the number of brownfields that could make development in the area “very difficult.” See Update, A8
