Bees abound on the Broadway Island pollinator garden North Haven Garden Club members Sue Dannenhoffer and Fran Notaro, caretakers of the Broadway Island, are always making improvements to the plot. The pollinator garden attracts a lot of pollinators even though it’s in the middle of a busy road. Recently, a diseased boxwood was removed and replaced by a rose bush, the second one on the island. Don't forget to check out the North Haven Garden Club on Facebook for lots of useful and entertaining information and pictures of all the club does in town. K-9 From A1
Obaid Malick, a marketing director for BMW and Mercedes Benz, said he was happy to see the turnout that morning. “It was one of those things that we wanted to partner with our first responders and decided ‘let’s support the K-9 unit,’” Malick said. “We thought it would be a good community event that would be a great connection with the event.”
BELLOWS FALLS, VTSean D. “Animal” Kelley, 58, of Bellows Falls, VT, died peacefully on July 6, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. He was born March 8, 1963, in New Haven, CT, the son of predeceased parents, Fern R. Goodrich and Norman Kelley, and stepdad Mike. Sean attended school at New Haven High, CT. He worked as a gas attendant in his early years, then attended Netty Trucking School in North Haven, CT, and moved to VT to start his career at Brattleboro Haulage Trucking. Sean is survived by two sons from Dawn Colberg: Adam, Adam’s wife-Kristi Pierce, Adam’s daughtersKaylee and Kylee Kelley; son Alexander with a daughter from Jen, Lilly Ann & son Colton Kelley from LeAnn Kicza; his brother Dave, Dave’s daughters-Ashley and Amber Kelley, also a bunch of nieces & nephews, best friends, predeceased best friends. There will be no services, but we are having a gathering (pig roast), at Adam Kelley’s home, 18 Nina Lee Drive, Putney, VT 05346, Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, 1 p.m.

Malick said he had done events like this at other dealerships. “The main goal was to support the K-9 unit and help raise funds for them. We had easily over 500 people that came through,” Malick. “We have a great connection with the police department, and Lt. Matt Falcon understood what I wanted to do.” Falcon said it was a great event. “The K-9 program is a huge asset to our department, and we’re happy to have it,” Falcon said. “These K-9 officers are so committed, and we have been so successful with the program.” K-9 officers Taro and Cyrus were in attendance at the “Cars and Coffee” event, as was retired K-9 Koda. Falcon said the department is getting another K9, a female labrador, this December. Typically K-9 officers are in the department for about eight years. They spend the first one or two years training for a specific unit.

Life coach writes migration memoir about leaving Mexico
“I’m part of the community of closeted romantics,” she said in a virtual interview. “I am very cheesy, although I try not to let it slide into the vulgar or ordinary in my writing, but to keep it deep and serious.”
This June, Cuadriello-Arreguín celebrated seven years in Connecticut and launched a book of meditations about her immigration process called “Informalmente: Reflexiones” in Spanish.
Migration Her cousin, Selene Borges Hanson, 50, remembers the difficulty of the first years of migration. “It cost her a lot to insert herself into a society that works differently from what she knew,” Borges said in a telephone interview. Despite the distance, she said that she stays in touch with Cuadriello-Arreguín and considers her a friend and mentor.

Memoir From A13
Borges recalls. “And she did it. She has a community that accepts her, that recognizes her, that talks about her.” Among other services, Avanza con Laura offers life coaching, seminars, couple workshops and individual counseling for Spanish speakers. Maribel Rodríguez, 38, attended a marriage meeting at her parish with Cuadriello-Arreguín. They stayed in touch through community events, and Rodríguez did a year of counseling with Cuadriello-Arreguín during the pandemic. “My idea has always been to have the support of people who are more qualified than me to make decisions,” she said in a telephone interview. “It is easier for me to talk to an expert who I know is going to tell me a neutral point of view than to tell my neighbor.” Rodríguez participated in a livestream that CuadrielloArreguín hosted on Facebook about the emotional price of migration.
Integration Cuadriello-Arreguín is a lifelong learner. She has a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, two academic specializations and more than 30 years of experience as a teacher, she said. She recently became interested in understanding how the immigration process affects her clients from an emotional point of view, both for those who migrate and for those who are left behind.
Cuadriello-Arreguín wrote the last chapter of the book on the plane back to Mexico.

Raúl Rivera, 67, came to the celebration and read a copy of “Informalmente.” He has known Cuadrello-Arreguín for more than a decade and attended counseling with her. “It’s a love story,” Rivera said in a phone interview. “It is easy to understand. It hooks you. I was caught by the way she describes daily life, nostalgia, encounters and reunions.”

Rivera remembers the last time he spoke with Cuadriello-Arreguín. He decided to give her a book written by the Argentine doctor and psychotherapist Jorge Bucay about the search for the goddess of fortune in other horizons.

After the launch in Coyoacán, Cuadriello-Arreguín is looking for a place to launch the book in Middlefield in August, while working on a book for parents on how to discipline their children. Cuadriello-Arreguín retains a lot of affection for her native country. She arrived at the virtual interview wearing a traditional white blouse embroidered with blue flowers and retains the musical nuances of the Mexican accent. She also said she is learning a lot about the new culture and has since become an U.S. citizen. Cuadriello-Arreguín says she is learning to live with her mixed identities as a woman, Mexican and migrant. “I know I’ve made it when I can eat a hamburger with one hand and hold a tequila in the other,” she said.
