On Saturday, Dec. 14, Northeast Fire Company 4, headquartered at 366 Washington Ave., collected wrapped presents from parents and family members from 12 to 4 p.m. And this Saturday and Sunday, the fire company will load the gifts onto one of their antique fire engines and deliver them, with a little help from Kris Kringle.
The Landing, North Haven’s newest addition in senior care facilities, is abandoning the idea of sending loved ones to a home and instead sending them to a resort.
“This is our major fundraiser of the entire year,” said North Haven fire fighter Todd Ricci, president of the Northeast Volunteer Fire Associa-

Though they have been hosting 30 residents since October, The Landing invited the community to its ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Dec 12. According to General Manager Eric Piekarz, the facility expects another 124 residents to be coming in. “It feels terrific. After months and months of construction and preparation it feels extraordinary to finally be at the ribbon cutting,” Piekarz said. “And to have such a fantastic team that got us here; between the town, the community and all
tion. “It’s really a great event. It’s nice to see the kids smile and there’s a lot of camaraderie amongst us to get it done.” The fire company asks for a $30 donation for deliveries of up to two kids and $5 for each additional child. Ricci said the fundraiser brought in more than $2,000 last year. “It’s just part of our giving back and giving the Christmas spirit to the children of the town,” he said. Kate Mena, a newcomer to North Haven, dropped off presents for her 3-yearold Lily, who “loves Santa and fire trucks.” “I think this is so great,” Mena said. “Stuff like this is why we moved to North Haven in the first place.”
