Local and state officials got a behind-the-scenes look Thursday, June 20 at Amazon’s new robotic fulfillment center, which is expected to open later this summer. “This is how we continue to modernize and grow our

economy, by welcoming these changes and making sure we can make it happen for Amazon and a lot of others,” Gov. Ned Lamont said. The 855,000-square-foot facility was built on the former site of Pratt & Whitney off Route 5. Once it is fully operational,

the center will be able to ship a million items per day during peak periods. “In this particular building, we’re capable of storing tens of millions of units ... and we want to be able to manage that as effectively as possible See Amazon, A7

The business, located at 560 Universal Drive N., will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from inrestaurant sales between 5 to 8 p.m. that day to Mikaela (Kayla) Carbaugh. Carbaugh, 20, graduated from Lancaster Bible College this May and left soon after on a senior trip to retrace Apostle Paul’s mission trip. While taking photos in Turkey she slipped on rocks, which resulted in a broken back. She was paralyzed from the waist down. Carbaugh worked for Chick-fil-A North Haven last summer and her younger sister, Megan, 19, has been an employee for about two years,
