The oldest of her three children, Sophia Messino, 6, agreed that the warm weather is best since it lets her get on her bike. Piping up from inside the stroller their mother was pushing, Ella Messino, 4, said she prefers the snow.

"It will be a very beautiful week," said Gary Lessor, meteorologist with the Weather Center at Western Connecticut State University.
“I don't remember a year that was like this,” said Plainville resident Jeff Cates, who was joined by Karen Kowalczyk and their English sheepdog Bella at the dog park just off the trail.
The forecast was for temperatures to be 10 degrees or more above average through the week, which Lessor called "highly unusual.” “January was 7 degrees above normal. February was almost 5 degrees above normal," Lessor said, adding that March has already been nearly 7 degrees above average. “This is just a continuing pattern of extreme warmth."
Cates said they try to bring Bella to the park on weekends as often as the weather permits. Dozens of other dogs were also in the parking enjoying the unseasonable weather on Sunday. Kowalczyk said she wouldn’t have minded at least one big snowstorm this year to really make it feel like winter.
Christina Messino, of Wolcott, said the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail is her favorite spot when the weather is warm enough to bring her three kids outdoors. “The kids like to ride their bikes and I like that it’s paved,” she said.
“I like having real winters with the cold … and preferably a white Christmas,” she said.
