SOUTHINGTON — The Farmington Canal Heritage Trail blossomed with activity Sunday as unseasonably warm temperatures brought residents out for a springlike day. North Haven resident Christian Monahan said this winter has been the best for being outside since he started running in 2014. The lack of snow and ice has helped him get off the treadmill and go outdoors to join other runners. “This whole winter’s been a Connecticut runner’s dream … it’s been uncharacteristically warm,” he said after covering a little over five miles on Sunday.
