A memorable fall season for many local athletes Plainville squads had a strong fall season, with the high school football team earning a spot in the penultimate round of the state playoffs, and the middle school boys soccer team registering an undefeated campaign.
While the PHS football team fell to Bloomfield 35-7 in the semifinals on Dec. 9, the 2019 Blue Devils have much to be proud about. The team ran up a record of 9-3 this season, and defeated Bullard Havens Tech in the first round of the playoffs. “It was a very good experience for the kids. It showed
through a lot of hard work and perseverance and a little luck,” PHS coach Tim Shea said. Wide receiver Christian Collin scored his team’s sole touchdown against Bloomfield. The TD came in the fourth quarter.
Runners race along Northwest Drive in Plainville during the "Thanks for Giving" race on Oct. 9. The run raised around half the money needed to fund the spring sports program at MSP.
