Support for Kendall as she battles cancer
Ways to get your apple fritter fix this fall

The cancellation of the annual Apple Harvest Festival this year due to COVID-19 brought along the cancellation of the beloved Zion Lutheran Church apple fritter booth as well.
Kendall Lord played on the swings and danced to live music at YMCA Camp Sloper Sunday, while hundreds of friends, family and members of the local community raised money for the local 5-year-old’s cancer treatment. little girl,” Lord said, looking over the pavilion crowded with people wearing shirts emblazoned with her daughter’s name. The family expected around 500 people would attend the event, spread across four hours to encourage social distancing.
Local businesses and individuals donated enough raffle prizes to cover a half dozen picnic tables, the band Shed Rats provided live music and Tops Supermarket donated lunch.
For 50 years, people lined up sometimes for more than an hour for the church’s famous apple fritters. This year, get your fritter fix at the following restaurants, or make them at home. See Fritters, A4

Trash hauler close to approval for expansion A local trash company is close to state approval for a transfer station on Triano Drive that will sort recyclables, take residential debris and speed the removal of trash.
HQ Dumpsters and Recycling is completing a 28,000-square-foot building at its Triano Drive property that will house sorting and trash transfer operations.
