1HAPO’s Winter Wonderland Festival of

Lights – OPENING NIGHT!

Join us for the annual HAPO’s Winter Wonderland Festival of Lights. The highly awaited “flipping of the light switch” is an event you won’t want to miss. Countdown with appearances from Santa & Mrs. Claus and holiday characters, food vendors, free kettle corn and cocoa (while supplies last). The lights will be on display starting at dusk each evening through January 2, 2023. Richland Walks: Winter Wonderland Houses

Join Richland volunteers to hear the story behind the alphabet house models erected at John Dam Plaza for a "mini" walk and an informal conversation about these historic wartime buildings still in use today. 9260 Sunday, December 4 2:00pm 9261 Sunday, December 11 2:00pm 9262 Sunday, December 18 2:00pm John Dam Plaza No Fee (Pre-registration required)

4Youth Basketball For boys and girls in grades 1st through 6th. Richland Recreation Youth Basketball program's mission is to provide the children of the community a fun opportunity to learn and appreciate the game of basketball through active participation in practice and games. Games are played at local schools. & PROGRAMS Coaches are needed. Starting the season on time will depend on volunteer-coach participation. Practice Begins: Week of December 5 Games Begin: Saturday, January 14 Early Registration Resident Non-Resident Sept 28-Oct 30 $50 $62.25 Late Registration Resident Non-Resident Oct 31-Nov 13 $60 $75 Richland Walks: History Through the Houses Join Richland volunteers for a walk through the city's history as revealed in its houses. From pre-war to mid-century with a heavy dose of alphabet homes. EVENTS This is an easy walk. Walks are weather permitting. 9164 Saturday, November 19 9:00-11:00am Activity Level 1, Approx. 3 miles Meet at corner of Wilson St. & Johnston Ave. by Chief Jo Middle School No Fee (Pre-registration required) Gentle walking with little elevation change. Pace is very social with breaks. ADA accessible. COMMUNITY Richland Walks: Urban Greenbelt Trail This volunteer led walk will follow Richland’s Urban Greenbelt Trail (UGT), and urban path that encircles the central city. Along the way, we’ll talk about the city’s history and look at pictures of Richland in earlier days. Walks are weather permitting. 9166 Saturday, December 3 9:00-11:00am Activity Level 3, Approx. 3.2 miles Meet in front of the Richland Community Ctr No Fee (Pre-registration Required) Moderate to difficult walking and hiking which may include major elevation changes. Pace is brisk with occasional stops. Typically, not ADA accessible.
