In the first 30 minutes or so, we will learn basic steps and terminology associated with line dancing. Then we will move into fun, easy beginner dances to all rhythms of music. In the last part of the class, we will focus on improving your skills as a line dancer. Dancing helps tone muscles and may help increase your memory and focus.

Introductory Foxtrot

Ages 16+. First developed in 1914 in New York City by Vaudeville Singer and dancer Harry Fox, the foxtrot became very popular during the big band years with music by Glenn Miller and the Dorsey Brothers. The foxtrot is easy to learn with a slow slow, quick quick step. You will learn six patterns to glide around the dance floor with your dance partner. You can dance the foxtrot to popular music from artists such as Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé.

Heart Safe
Richland Fire Department will provide instruction in a 45-minute session on simple but effective CPR and AED techniques that people can use to help save lives. Ninety percent of cardiac arrest victims die before reaching a hospital or medical facility. Effective CPR provided in the first minutes can increase survival by two to three times. Youths ages 8–15 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Richland youth basketball is for boys and girls entering 1st – 6th in the 2023-2024 school year.
Richland Recreation Youth Basketball Program’s Mission is to provide the children of the community a fun opportunity to learn and appreciate the game of basketball through active participation in practice and games.
Practice will take place once a week beginning the week of January 8th for teams that have approved coaches. Practices will take place on weekday evenings at Richland School District elementary school gyms, typically at the players school or a nearby school. This class is especially beneficial for anyone with lower back, hip, shoulder, and joint issues.
Yoga Flow II (Hybrid)

Merge basic yoga postures with breathing to create a heat-building workout. A cardiovascular workout that combines strength and stretching poses to lengthen and strengthen muscles. Basic yoga experience recommended although class is designed for all levels. Please bring a yoga mat, blanket or towel, and a water bottle.

The City recognizes that the primary purpose of Parks and Recreation is to provide for the recreational needs of Richland residents. People living within Richland’s city limits support the City’s parks and recreation services through taxes. People residing outside the city limits are welcomed and encouraged to enjoy City-sponsored events and programs at a non-resident rate.
Class Refund Policy
The City reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, relocate, or combine activities as needed. If Parks and Recreation cancels an activity, participants will be notified, and a full refund will automatically be issued. A participant-initiated refund for classes and activities must be requested at least three (3) business days before the start date and will not be issued for any value less than $5. Participant-initiated refunds will be assessed a $5 processing fee per class/activity for each person involved. Refunds take approximately 14 days to process. Refunds for VISA and MasterCard transactions will be credited to the same card used in the original transaction.

Outdoor Facility
The city cannot predict the weather or other environmental conditions such as insects, wildlife, uneven terrain, wet grass and puddles, dirt, dust, noise from other park users, or other unpredictable, unknown, or natural factors that occur in a public park. The city will use its best effort to provide the facility at an acceptable level of service consistent with that provided to all park users.
Outdoor Cancellation Policy
All event cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations made 14+ days before the event date receive a full refund of the agreed hourly rental fee. Cancellations made 7–13 days before the event date receive 50% of the agreed hourly rental fee. Cancellations made 0-6 days before the event date receive no refund of the agreed hourly rental fees. Damage deposit refunded in full if canceled before the event. The administration fee is non-refundable (admin fee only pertains to Special Event Agreements).
Statement of Non-Discrimination

Participants shall not be refused services due to their gender identity or gender expression. Non-Discrimination in Education Programs and Activities
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal statute created to prohibit sex discrimination in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. The City of Richland does not discriminate against any person based on sex in the operation, conduct, or administration of community athletic programs. City sub-recipients and contractors providing educational programs and activities are also prohibited from discriminating against anyone based on sex.
Sports Concussions and Head Injuries
A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury or TBI caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, creating chemical changes in the brain and sometimes stretching and damaging brain cells. Medical providers may describe a concussion as a “mild” brain injury because concussions are usually not life-threatening. Even so, the effects of a concussion can be serious. Columbia Point Golf Course is an upscale, daily-fee facility built and owned by the City of Richland. It is a challenging course for all levels of golfers and is located on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains adjacent to the Columbia River. It boasts a variety of tee boxes and measures 6,571 yards from the Championship tees.
This James J. Engh design features mounded, rolling fairways and large, undulating greens. The parkland-style course opened in 1997. Columbia Point has a fully stocked golf shop, cafe, covered patio, and driving range complete with extra amenities, including men's and ladies' lockers available for daily use. The clubhouse matches the nature beauty, of course, at Columbia Point. The covered patio with a panoramic view of the front nine complements the spacious golf shop and indoor cafe seating.
