Valoria K. has been a resident of Deerfield Beach for over 12 years and intends to remain that way. Valoria loves the city and says she, “wouldn’t move for the world,” and that’s because of the services that the city offers. The city events assist everyone in the community to get involved, get active and spread positive messages throughout the community. Valoria believes, “the city is so lovely, the beach is clean and the pier is simply delightful!” The City of Deerfield Beach has been nationally recognized for their “Blue Wave” beach. The Clean Beach Council awarded the City of Deerfield Beach because of the outstanding water quality, beach conditions, habitat conservationism and safety and public information services. Thanks to this and many other great attractions in the City of Deerfield Beach is the only place Valoria states, she can truly feel at home.

DID YOU KNOW? By 2020 the Florida Legislature has mandated all counties achieve a 75% goal in recycling rate. Although the City is a leader in recycling in Broward County, the City’s current recycling rate is approximately 32%. The introduction of the single-stream recycling program is anticipated to boost the City’s recycling rates and get closer to reaching that 75% goal. The City received grant funding to purchase the new carts and implement the rewards program to promote recycling and hopefully allow the City to continue to be a recycling leader in Broward County.

CLEANING UP DEERFIELD BEACH The City of Deerfield Beach also holds Coastal Cleanups through the year. Residents are invited to register as volunteers and help pick up litter along Deerfield Beach’s coastline. These efforts help keep litter out of the ocean and away from animals but also help to keep the beautiful beach clean and inviting for visitors and residents. In 2014; 7,105 lbs of trash were collected in Broward County thanks to the efforts of nearly 4,000 volunteers! You may not have noticed litter before but it’s all around you. It’s in the corners, the medians, the ocean, and on the streets. It’s everywhere and you can help prevent it, clean up your city, and help the environment all at once!
