Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies is looking for Civil Society Coordinator
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programs, the successful candidate will be assigned to the Unit of Programs at the Community of Democracies’ Permanent Secretariat (PSCD) based in Warsaw. He/she will support the Head of Programs by performing the following responsibilities: ñ Organize civil society participation at the Community of Democracies (CD) Governing Council meetings, Executive Committee meetings, CD Working Group meetings, as well as biannual ministerial meetings;
ñ
Provide administrative and organizational support to the International Steering Committee ;
ñ
Liaise and mantain communication with regional networks of civil society and individual civil society organizations (CSOs) affiliated with the CD;
ñ
Proactively organize meetings between the CD Secretary General and PSCD staff and civil society in Governing Council countries;
ñ
Research, map and analyze best practices on Government-‐CSOs relationship, as well as on the meaningful participation of CSOs in decision-‐making processes, with a particular focus on best practices adopted by CD Governing Council member States;
ñ
Design and develop new project proposals focused at promoting open and free civic space and government-‐civil society dialogue;
ñ
Prepare briefings, notes and reports, as required;
ñ
Contribute to maintain up-‐to-‐date records contact details relevant for the position, including directories of institutions, civil society partners, international agencies, non-‐governmental entities, etc.
ñ
Undertake duty travels as required;
ñ
Perform any other duty as may be assigned
Qualifications ñ Completed a university degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Administration, Management, Political or Social Sciences, Law, or similar ñ Minimum of two years professional experience in a similar position; previous experience with CSOs and/or in project management would be an asset ñ Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relations with relevant Government counterparts, International and non-‐governmental organizations ñ Professional fluency in English, including excellent drafting skills, other languages would be a strong advantage; ñ Excellent organizational skills and attention to details; ñ Planning and meeting coordination experience; ñ Ability to work with minimal supervision and under pressure within a multicultural environment; ñ Computer literacy. Contract conditions The position is based in Warsaw at the Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies. The position is full time. The proposed salary will depend on the candidate’s professional experience.
