LE MUSE INQUIETE. La Biennale di Venezia di fronte alla storia.

Apertura fino al 8 dicembre 2020. Una mostra incentrata su episodi particolarmente significativi della storia della Biennale, racconterà l’evoluzione di questa istituzione nata con l’Esposizione internazionale di Venezia del 1895. Organizzata con i materiali dell’Archivio Storico delle Arti Contemporanee della Biennale (ASAC) e con materiali provenienti da altri importanti archivi, e curata per la prima vol- ta collettivamente da tutti i direttori artistici della Biennale, vede in dialogo tutte le sue discipline artistiche: dall’arte all’architettura, dalla musica al teatro, fino alla danza. Ai Giardini e all’Arsenale nello stesso periodo avranno luogo attività, spettacoli dal vivo e performance. Fino al 4 ottobre: 11.00-19.00. Venezia e lo Studio Glass Americano.

Apertura fino al 10 gennaio 2021. Prosegue, nella sede dedicata allo studio e alla valorizzazione dell’arte vetraria del Novecento e contemporanea, il ciclo pluriennale promosso da Pentagram Stiftung e Fondazione Cini. La mostra, a cura di Tina Oldknow e William Warmus, già curatori di vetro moderno e contemporaneo al The Corning Museum of Glass di New York, presenta oltre 150 oggetti, tra cui vasi, sculture e installazioni in vetro creati da 60 artisti, americani e veneziani. Il tema proposto sarà l’influenza che l’estetica e le tradizionali tecniche di lavorazione del vetro veneziano hanno avuto sullo Studio Glass americano dagli anni Sessanta ad oggi. THE DISQUIETED MUSES. When La Biennale di Venezia Meets History.

Open until 8 December 2020. An exhibition on particularly significant episodes in Biennale history, recounting the evolution of this institution, born with the Venice International Exhibition in 1895. Organised with documents from the Biennale’s Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts (ASAC) and with material from other important archives, and curated collectively for the first time by all of the Biennale’s ar- tistic directors, it features a dialogue among all of its artistic disciplines: from art to architecture, from music to theatre, to dance. This same period features activities at the Giardini and at the Arsenal, live shows and performances. Until 5 October: 11am-7pm. From 4 October 10am – 6pm with last admission at 5.30pm. Open until 10 January 2021. The pluriennial cycle promoted by Pentagram Stiftung and Fondazione Cini is continuing in this venue dedicated to the study and enhancement of Twentieth century and contemporary glass art. The exhibition, by curators Tina Oldknow and William Warmus, the former modern and contemporary glass curators at The Corning Museum of Glass di New York, is presenting over 150 items, including vases, sculptures and glass installations created by 60 American and Venetian artists. The theme proposed is the influence which the aesthetics and traditional processing techniques of Venetian glass have had on American Studio Glass from the 1960s to our day. GALLERIA INTERNAZIONALE D’ARTE MODERNA Santa Croce 2076 - Linea 1 Actv, San Stae

Omaggio a UMBERTO MOGGIOLI (1886-1919).

Fino al 8 dicembre 2020. Una mostra ideata dalla Fondazione Musei civici di Venezia in omaggio al maestro trentino, di cui ricor re il centenario ripercorre, attraverso una selezione di venti opere, oltre ai principali periodi dell’artista, un momento importante della vicenda di Ca’ Pesaro e di un significativo tassello della storia artistica del Novecento. Con Gino Rossi, Pio Semeghini e Tullio Garbari, Moggioli sviluppò agli inizi del secolo la pittura di paesaggio, da un lato riscoprendo le atmosfere della tecnica divisionista, dall’altro i suggerimenti stilistici dei maestri di Pont-Aven. ARSENALE

La Biennale all ’Arsenale 1998/2020. Gli interventi di restauro e riqualificazione.

Fino al 25 ottobre 2020. Una mostra speciale allestita all’interno di un percorso guidato, illustrerà gli interventi realizzati da La Biennale di Venezia negli spazi un tempo occupati dall’antica industria navale veneziana. Grandi pannelli presentano immagini degli spazi sviluppati lungo l’area Sud-Est in concessione alla Biennale, prima dei lavori, durante i cantieri, e dopo il completamento delle opere di restauro e riqualificazione. A riguardo, la Fondazione veneziana ha condotto a partire dal 1998 un ampio programma di valorizzazione dell’area con l’obiettivo di aprire al pubblico gli edifici, oggi da lei utilizzati, per molte delle sue discipline (arte, architettura, musica, teatro, danza…). GIARDINI DELLA BIENNALE

Padiglione Venezia. APERTURE STRAORDINARIE.

Fino al 31 dicembre. Un progetto ideato da Giovanna Zabotti, curatrice 2019 del Padiglione Venezia, presenta uno speciale ciclo di appuntamenti all’insegna dello scambio e del confronto tra professionalità e generazioni diverse con l’obiettivo di identificare nuove conoscenze e modi alternativi di vita. Il Padiglione, trasformato in una sorta di salotto, farà da scena ad un programma di 13 eventi (uno per ogni fine settimana) dove grazie all’intervento di ospiti speciali verranno raffigurate non solo arte, ma anche nautica, imprenditoria, editoria, design, filosofia, musica ed artigianato, quest’ultimo carattere da sempre determinante della cultura veneziana. INTERNATIONAL MODERN ART GALLERY Santa Croce 2076 - Actv boat line 1, San Stae

Tribute to UMBERTO MOGGIOLI (1886-1919).

Until 8 December 2020. An exhibition conceived by the Venice City Museums Foundation as a tribute to this master from Trentino on his hundredth anniversary, retracing an important mo ment within Ca’ Pesaro activities and a significant portion of Twentieth century art history, as well the artist’s key moments, through a selection of twenty artworks including oils, drawings and etchings. Together with Gino Rossi, Pio Semeghini and Tullio Garbari, Moggioli developed landscape painting at the dawn of the century, on one hand rediscovering atmospheres from the divisionist technique, on the other, the Pont-Aven masters’ stylistic suggestions. THE BIENNALE AT THE ARSENAL 1998/2020. Restoration and upgrading work.

Until 25 October 2020. A special exhibition set up within a guided tour will illustrate the work carried out by the Venice Biennale in these spaces, once occupied by the ancient Venetian naval industry. Large panels display pictures of the areas developed throughout the South-Eastern area under concession to the Biennale, prior to works, under construction, and after the completion of restoration and upgrading work. In this respect, the Venetian Foundation has imple mented ample enhancement planning for the area since 1998, with the aim of opening the buildings it uses today to the public, for many of its disciplines (art, architecture, music, theatre, dance…). GARDENS OF THE BIENNALE

VENICE PAVILION- Actv boat lines 1-2, Biennale Venice Pavilion. SPECIAL OPENINGS. Until 31 December. A project conceived by Giovanna Zabotti, the 2019 curator of the Venice Pavilion, presenting a special cycle of rendez-vous featuring exchanges and comparisons between different professions and generations, with the aim of identifying new knowledge and alternative ways of life. Transformed into a sort of salon, the Pavilion will be the stage for a programme of 13 events (one each weekend) during which, thanks to the contribution of special guests, not just art but also boating, entrepreneurship, publishing, design, philosophy, music and craftsman- ship, an ever-determining ambit of Venetian culture, will be illustrated. Apertura al pubblico fino al 29 novembre 2020. Seconda tappa di TBA21 - Academy a Venezia. Frutto di un progetto di ricerca interdisciplinare avvia to tre anni fa che indaga le trasformazioni subìte dagli oceani dovute all’impatto umano, questa esposizione approfondisce il preoccupante tema dell’innalzamento dei mari con una installazione - all’interno e all’esterno dello spazio di San Lorenzo - che esplicitamente segna il livello che nella città di Venezia il mare raggiungerebbe nell’ormai prossimo 2050. Per tutta la durata della mostra, diretta da Daniela Zyman, verrà proposto un programma di incontri ed eventi dove saranno coinvolti relatori impegnati nella tutela e nella ricerca ambientale. HENRI CARTIER-BRESSON. Le Grand Jeu.

Fino al 20 marzo 2021. Realizzata da palazzo Grassi con la Bibliothèque nationale de France, in collaborazione con la Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, questa mostra mette a confronto lo sguardo di cinque curatori sull’opera del celebre fotografo (1908 – 2004) pioniere del foto-giornalismo e più in particolare sulla sua “Master Collection”, una selezione di 385 immagini che l’artista ha individuato agli inizi degli Settanta, su invito dei suoi amici collezionisti Jean e Dominique de Menil, come le più significative della sua opera. Il progetto è ideato da M. Humery.

YOUSSEF NABIL. Once Upon A Dream.

Fino al 20 marzo 2021. Affianca la mostra dedicata a Henri Cartier-Bresson, a cui è riservato il primo piano espositivo, una rassegna monografica dedicata all’artista Youssef Nabil (Il Cairo, 1972) curata da Matthieu Humery e Jean-Jacques Aillagon. Queste fotografie - realizzate con la tecnica tradizionale egiziana largamente utilizzata per i ritratti fotografici di famiglia e per i manifesti dei film che popolavano le strade de Il Cairo - e successivamente dipinte a mano dallo stesso autore restituiscono la suggestione di un Egitto leggendario. Open to the public until 29 November 2020. Second part of TBA21 - Academy in Venice. A result of an interdisciplinary research project launched three years ago investigating the transforma tions undergone by oceans due to human impact, this exhibition explores the concerning theme of seas rising, with an installation - inside and outside the venue of S. Lorenzo - explicitly marking the level the sea would reach in now near 2050 within the city of Venice. For the entire duration of the exhibition, directed by Daniela Zyman, a programme with meetings and events will be offered, involving speakers engaged in environmental protection and research. Until 20 March 2021. Organised by palazzo Grassi with the National Library of France, in collaboration with the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation, this exhibition compares the viewpoint of five curators on the work of this famed photographer (1908 – 2004), a pioneer of photo-reporting, and par ticularly on the “Master Collection”, a selection of 385 pictures which the artist chose at the beginning of the Seventies, requested by his collector friends Jean and Dominique de Menil, as being the most significant within his opus. The project is conceived by M. Humery.

YOUSSEF NABIL. Once Upon A Dream.

Until 20 March 2021. A monographic exhibition by curators Matthieu Humery and Jean-Jacques Aillagon, dedicated to artist Youssef Nabil (Cairo, 1972), to whom the first exhibition floor is reserved, will accompany the exhibition dedicated to Henri Cartier-Bresson. These photographs - created with the traditional Egyptian technique widely used for family photo-portraits and for the film posters once populating the streets in Cairo - subsequently hand-painted by the author himself, convey the suggestiveness of a legendary Egypt.
