POSITIVE PATHWAYS These programmes offer the main core subjects in the Key Stage 4 Curriculum: • Maths • English Language & Literature • Biology • IT In addition learners will gain qualifications and skills development through Employability, Enterprise, Sport, Enrichment and the Prince’s Trust Achieve Programme. Learners will take part in both theory and practical sessions including hair & beauty, construction, digital media, art & design and other vocational areas. Vocational tasters will rotate to allow learners to experience a wide range of subjects.

Assessment will be through a range of methods including exam assessments, practical activities and portfolio evidence. Initial assessment on entry will determine which pathway a learner will join with regular reviews taking place throughout the year. We recognise that for a variety of reasons not everyone needs to access a course at the start of the academic year or to access a full year programme. The flexibility of these programmes allow for entry at any point during the academic year with progression routes being: • • •

A positive and supported transition back into school Progression onto a vocational programme Completion of the full 25 hour programme

Primarily based at the Skills Academy but will include visits to other college sites

Duration:

25 hours per week, September to June and can be accessed at any point during the academic year 5
