WHAT WILL I DO?

The Level 2 Art and Design programme at SRC will offer you the chance to develop your creative skills. You will carry out a rage of projects to develop your skills in drawing and painting, sculpture, textiles and illustration and graphics. You will also visit exhibitions, have a go at location work, see your own work exhibited and complete a work placement.

HOW AM I ASSESSED?

You will assessed through a portfolio of practical and theoretical work.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You will progress onto SRCs Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design or Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion and Clothing

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or four GCSEs Grade 9-4/A*-C including Maths and/ or English or a merit in a relevant Level 2.

WHAT WILL I DO?

By exploring different techniques, our Art and Design courses will help you discover your own creativity. You’ll carry out a range of projects to further develop the skills you gained in the level 2 course. You’ll see your own work exhibited and work to live briefs set by local businesses which will let you see what it’s like to work in the design industry. This course can be worth the equivalent of 3 A* at A level.

HOW AM I ASSESSED?

You be assessed through a variety of assignments, portfolios and practical work throughout the programme.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You could go on to university to study subjects including fine art, textiles or graphic design, or move on to a relevant apprenticeship or employment in areas such as interior design, set design or illustration.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Costume and Production Design

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or four GCSEs Grade 9-4/A*-C including Maths and/ or English or a merit in a relevant Level 2.

WHAT WILL I DO?

If you’re fashion focused then this course could be perfect for you. You will get the chance to explore new creative techniques and draw on new skills including design, surface pattern, pattern cutting, construction and textiles. You will also have the opportunity to get hands-on in a work placement and go on a number of education trips. This course can be worth the equivalent of 3 A* at A level.

HOW AM I ASSESSED?

You will be assessed through portfolios, creative work and development of garments. Some work will be assessed by outside companies.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You might choose to go to university to study subjects including fashion design, textiles or fashion business. Or you could go on to an apprenticeship or employment in areas including design, fashion buying, dressmaking or fashion journalism.
