Dear Parents and Caregivers, This week has been another busy one for the senior students. The last hurdle for the Year 12s prior to writing their Final HSC Examinations is their Trial Examinations, which started this week. This week they had their last lessons in each of their subjects, which is always a bittersweet moment for both teachers and students.
The Drama students had their HSC Practical Marking Days on Thursday and Friday. NESA expects these performances to be in front of a live audience and I would like to thank the Year 10 and Year 11 Drama students for being that audience. As an appreciative audience, they were an amazing support for the Year 12s providing them with the best conditions in which to succeed. The Year 11 students also started their Final Examinations this week. They will start their HSC following their feedback.

hearsals and competing in the Gold Coast Choral Eisteddfod. The Reddam tour group stayed in a hotel on the river, spoiled with pool time, great food, and a dedicated space for movie nights and rehearsals. Students could choose to swim or walk on the beach in their free time with Ms Bortolotti, or join Ms Wood and Ms Karney's morning exercise sessions in the gym or running on the beach. Mr Bortolotti and Mr Barton oversaw an enormous order of pizzas at a Brisbane restaurant before the group watched the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Cinderella at QPAC, and Ms Ngu enjoyed riding the roller coasters with students at Warner Brothers Movieworld. On Sunday afternoon, following a fantastic workshop with guest conductor Nicole Thompson (from the Central Queensland Conservatorium Of Music), students chose to either attempt the second highest external climb in the southern hemisphere at Q1, get soaked on a jet boat ride, or take a scenic kayak to Duck Island. The trip was topped off with an unbelievable result at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, with Chamber Choir receiving 3rd place, and Senior Choir taking out first place in the same section. The competition was stiff, however both choirs rose to the challenge, each receiving a Gold Award for scoring over 90 points each. Adjudicator Kate Albury commended the Chamber Choir on performing unconducted, and for listening to each other and the accompanist well. Ms Albury also made special mention of the soloists; Tilley Edwards Hill and Hugo Nicolau Borde Bergeret, who she said created "stunning moments". Ms Albury thanked the Senior Choir for a contrasting programme; commenting on their superb balance and blend, tuning, attention to diction, and sensitive interpretation. The choir's performance even made it onto 9 News, you may enjoy a small clip of them HERE.

A huge thank you to the fabulous staff who attended, and to the exceptional students who made this trip such a huge success. We are very proud of our choristers, their hard work and dedication, and look forward to seeing what they present next. Photo’s pages 4 and 5. @REDDAM—The Reddam House High School Newsletter

MUSIC - STUDIO RECITALS Congratulations to all of the students who performed at our first week of studio recitals. We have heard from violin and viola students on Tuesday afternoon (Jessica An), percussion and guitar on Tuesday night (David Shirley and Franco Raggatt). Wednesday saw an afternoon of piano and guitar (Natalya Aysnely and Mitchell Clews), followed by a woodwind and vocal evening (Kirsty Tickle and Catherine Bouchier). And to round the week off, our young woodwind and violin students (Colden Anderson and Anna Cross) performed on Thursday afternoon, followed by Rebecca Currier's vocal studio in the afternoon. Another five recitals follow next week, and we are so very proud of all our students - particularly those for whom this marked their first public performance! We are so glad that students are taking advantage of these important performance opportunities.
