Dear Parents and Caregivers,
For the entire school, the King’s Birthday long weekend has come at the perfect time of the term. A week out from Half Yearly Examinations, which start next Friday, gives students the ideal opportunity to catch up and prepare in readiness for this set of assessments. Year 12 students have a different timetable with an extra week of lessons before their starting date of 23rd June. They use this opportunity to arrange tutorials with their teachers in their pursuit of excellence.
This week the Annual Vocal Competition was held on Tuesday, and once again, the standard left our adjudicator, Dr. Simon Lobelson, in awe of the talent of our students. Hosted by Judiciary members Darcy Keene and Joseph Glasson from Year 9 and Year 12, respectively. Congratulations to the twelve finalists in both sections and to the eventual winners:
Year 7- Year 9
Gold: Luca Del Monaco
Silver: Hugo Nicolau Borde Bergeret
Bronze: Ella Kirby
Year 10 - Year 12
Gold: Lili Ogrin
Silver: Zoe Topper
Bronze: Andrew Lok
Please enjoy an assortment of photo's on our Music News page.
This week the Sydney Eisteddfod has started for our students with the Year 7 Concert Band entering the Novice Section and the Reddam Concert Band competing in the Intermediate Section. These performance opportunities are crucial for everyone that enters, creating a more prosperous and vibrant culture where students dream, perform, achieve, and be inspired. My thanks to the Music Department for making these available.

Tomi travelled to Melbourne the following week to compete in the Australian Combined Events Championships, where each State sends the top 3 athletes in the U15s boys and girls age groups to compete in a heptathlon over two days of competition. The competition included an individual points ladder and separate State team scores, with the top 2 x performances from each event contributing to the State team's overall points. UAC Guide 2023/24
Applications
A reminder that if students from NSW or ACT didn't receive their UAC PIN via email on 5 April, please have them contact our customer service line on 02 9752 0200 for assistance.
Students who are completing IB or Year 12 in WA can now apply via UAC, as we have their details in our system for them to lodge their application.
I have had many questions about not finding courses on the UAC website. Please advise your students that if they can't find the course/s they are looking for, it just means that the uni hasn't provided UAC with all details as yet. All courses will be listed progressively and no later than 1 August.
Schools Recommendation Scheme
At the end of April, UAC received 2000 SRS applications which is up by 18% at the same time last year.
And a reminder that schools won't be able to rate students until early to mid-August. We will be in touch soon to confirm the timing of this. We want to thank you for your patience while we are working on changes to improve SRS.
Early entry offer schemes
As you are all aware, there are many different early-entry applications, including SRS, so here are a few tips for students.
• If students want to keep all opportunities open to them, then they should apply for both early entry as well as through UAC for ATAR-based offers.
• Don't duplicate preferences across applications.
• Keep track of all applications lodged.
• Early entry isn't a guarantee of entry, as students must meet the minimum entry requirements.
For more information about each early entry offer scheme, check the UAC website here.
Educational Access Scheme
The UAC website has a great deal of information on the disadvantages students can apply for under EAS. We would recommend students check each category of disadvantage for details on documents they may need to provide to get themselves prepared for what's ahead.
To date, we have received just under 3000 EAS applications, with many who have already uploaded the required documents for a full assessment of their application.
The Access booklets are available online for you to download and provide to students if need be.
