Hyla and her mom, Jennifer Scott, at the Kids KIngdom Grand Opening

The Kids Kingdom Grand Opening was well underway before I took a moment to look around. There was a three-year old beating the bongo while dad whipped out his cell phone, two 12-year old friends spinning each other on the stand up spinner, siblings climbing the rock wall, parents encouraging their son to climb the ladder to the top of the play structure, and so much more. As I turned and faced toward the swing set, I focused in on a mom carrying her girl towards the Zero-G chair swing. I couldn’t take my eyes off of them. Hyla was born with Moat-Wilson Syndrome which manifests as Cerebral Palsy, inhibiting her from free play. At age 11, this lovely and patient girl is almost as tall as her mom, Jen Scott. “She LOVES to swing, and it has been part of her therapy,” said Jen, “but she always needs to sit on my lap for that extra support.” Even though Hyla is non-verbal, when Jen and Hyla’s sister, Faith, carefully sat her down in the Zero-G Chair, it was clear that Hyla was delighted. A small, sweet smile lit up her face as she gently swung back and forth, back and forth. I turned to her two grandmas, who were clapping their hands and taking photos with tears streaming down their faces. At that moment I knew this playground would make a big difference for Hyla and many other kids. Thank you, each and everyone, for helping create a playground where people of all abilities can play together. Be Active and Be Well,

Come learn, play, have fun and develop your skills and love of the game! Open to all levels of players, Kindergarten thru 12th graders. In the Fall League, teams are formed by coach request, player request, school attending, and/or luck of the draw- there is no player evaluation. A Player Draft is conducted by a Softball League Representative and all Team Managers working together to divide talent (especially known pitcher and catcher talent) as equally as possible to create well balanced teams that will allow for healthy and fair competition.

Practices can begin September 5th Games will be scheduled September 25th-November 18th mainly on weekday evenings with 6 or 6:30pm game start time. Divisions of play are determined by player’s grade in school. However, in the Fall League, players may choose to play in the division they played in Spring 2017 or the division they will play in Spring 2018. Some will choose to play up to prepare themselves for the following Spring season while others will choose to play down to build confidence. We are anticipating a 10-12 game season which will ultimately be determined by registration numbers. No more than two games/ week/team will be scheduled on the following days and locations: Division
